An important update:

Due to a specific person being a complete child, comments are going to be screened by default.

This is only temporary, and I apologize for the inconvenience- this is going to be a pain in the ass for me, too, but multiple people have come forward about fears of doxxing, and this is the only way to make sure any doxxing is contained.

(This basically will force the doxxer to make a DW account to post any doxxing attempts unscreened, and will let me more reliably report them to DW staff/authorities.)

Again, I apologize, and will be working to unscreen comments as fast as possible, but I'm only one person.

(Vasemod has had some personal issues come up, so I am the only mod atm. Please bear with me until this bit of annoyance has passed.)

Totally off topic but the docking station on my monitor that I use to connect my laptop and get a REAL keyboard and mouse (yes I'm old) stopped working. :(

I sat on the couch for a week using laptop-mode because I didn't want to deal with it and just now I have dealt with it and concluded yeah idk what to do.

So I scrounged a dongle and now I have my keyboard mouse and power back but no screen until I can find an HDMI cord.

salt to this person who i asked to buy a g1 from to use as a parent in my fandragon project. the thing is ugly as SIN and i offered way too much for that thing and still no. i get i'm not entitled to it but literally, the colors suck so bad so i'm salty i can't get it.

(the g1 is one of 4 dragons on site ever with those colors. because it is ugly.)

You gotta make your aesthetic breeding pairs' color ranges 2-3 colors wider than would be ideal. When those edge colors come out in a nest, exalt the fodderworthy babies. These are our little tithes to the FR Gods may they bless our wallets

Get an old UMA I've never heard of by a prolific accent artist that left the site.

Search some more, finally find a post of the original buyer thanking the artist for doing it as a commission for a now exalted dragon.

the staff are absolutely playing favorites. EVEN if they have great entries, there are still PAGES of other applicants that worked hard and want a spot.

besides, even historically and i have been on fr for all 10 years, they usually don't always pick the best winning accent. remember the spicy comments and arguments over that?

i feel like the animosity grows because one of the repeat winners was banned for multiaccounting. its like they got their cake and continue to eat it too. its a slap in the face imo

Yes. And it hurts me that such beautiful color combos haven't happened. I'd feel better if a dragon with the color combos I'm looking for got exalted, but ones that have never existed?

I've found the best time to do Baldwin's for silver/gold muck or white/black slime is during Festivals.

Because when I start dropping fams/apparel into the cauldron to brew for copper/grey to make currency, I get everything BUT copper/grey.

(I'm not irritated, just really amused because this happens EVERY festival- and once it's over, it goes back to popping out copper/grey.)

An important update for folks who host their dragons' bio images on Discord:

TL;DR: Discord is rolling out a change where the link to any hosted files will change every 24 hours, and if you want to host an image there, you'll have to create a new link every 24 hours if you wanted to keep using discord as a host for anything accessed externally.

I'll be honest, it was likely an oversight that you could use it for hosting at all. I was surprised it was a thing after years of sites banning hotlinking. Also, the images aren't being removed from servers, just the ability to long term hotlink.

But as a warning: a lot of dom badges use discord. If you want to keep them, save them and mirror them somewhere else. I did it for my badge collection.

If you're part of a nester group, ping the folks who run/maintain the hub. They often act as intermediaries if renters are stupid and block folks they forgot they rented from.

There's a billion categories of items that all melt down into different slop and each different slop has like 50 different color variants and I can never remember what turns into what and God forbid u want a specific color for a recipe AND THE SLOPS DONT EVEN GET THEIR OWN CATEGORY TO KEEP MY HOARD ORGANIZED

at least you can use the subcategory Transmutation in the materials tab you get to see all your slops + the other mats for baldwin but i still hate them all being squished all over materials next to two hundred junk items with no use.
what i hate most about baldwin is that the window to chose the items you wanna boil down is roughly as big as two ants, lags like shit and the item icons take forever to load

I hate some of the meat items being pets that I have IRL. Seeing the cockatoos and lovebird makes my imagination loud with images of dragons casually killing and eating them.

I decided to be nice as I have a lot of space in my lair that I don't always use.

So I leant some of it out for a mass egg hatch and yeah, 1k or whatever amount eggs to hatch is a lot and plenty of people were nice enough to loan out space for them all.

But it has taken 3 months.

We are doing this for free, I don't expect anything but now they are asking people to help price the dragons and of course it's a shet show since some are asking for payment for their services and others aren't.

I really don't care but I am sick of these dragons in my lair now and they are eating all my plants. I have a specific amount I like to be above and each day it goes below that, making me stressed..silly I know.

I am close to exalting them and leaving the discord.

I'm never loaning out free lair space again.

Honestly, I'd ask for some compensation in food, or a flat fee to pay to replace the food the squatters have eaten.

I'd prod them (not so gently) and say "When are you taking these dragons back? I want a date/time to send them back, or some kind of compensation for my time and food."

If they waffle on you? Refuse to send any of them back for less than fodder price. No one would blame you, and staff won't do anything about it because once a dragon leaves your lair... it's not yours anymore, so technically, those dragons are yours.

I certainly wouldn't be doing a callout or such about you because you're the one who took the time providing a free service, and they're the ones taking advantage.

Tell em to pony up or cut their losses. It was supposed to be temporary, and three months is ridiculous.

(Especially if this is about AoiNoRyuu, because if so, you're not the only one they're taking advantage of. I was waiting for an auction for one of their doubles, but even my love of a certain XX color isn't enough for me to ignore how badly they've been treating the folks who volunteered to help them.)

saw a dragon on the AH and got curious and checked the sellers g1 thread, and oh my god they got SO offended about someone making an offer to them for a dragon, based on a previous sale of a dragon with the same colors

That is both rude and also someone who doesn’t understand how fair value works. Basing off a prior sale that actually is an incredibly legit way to price a dragon!
