An important update:

Due to a specific person being a complete child, comments are going to be screened by default.

This is only temporary, and I apologize for the inconvenience- this is going to be a pain in the ass for me, too, but multiple people have come forward about fears of doxxing, and this is the only way to make sure any doxxing is contained.

(This basically will force the doxxer to make a DW account to post any doxxing attempts unscreened, and will let me more reliably report them to DW staff/authorities.)

Again, I apologize, and will be working to unscreen comments as fast as possible, but I'm only one person.

(Vasemod has had some personal issues come up, so I am the only mod atm. Please bear with me until this bit of annoyance has passed.)

The most frustrating thing about all of this is that I have to operate like I'm walking on eggshells to avoid anyone else being doxxed- I can't even come forward to FR staff with some of the caps, logs, and such that folks have emailed me, because I run the risk of having my FR account banned by staff for running ARR in the first place.

Sure, they might use whatever I give them, but unless I take a laptop/phone to a different zip code, use a VPN, and throwaway emails, I run the risk of being banned because we know how petty Undel and co are about sites like this.

I... why the hell are people giving you proof? Not saying you're unworthy... More that people should be handing shit to staff themselves if it's that incriminating.

Said people have already turned things over to staff, but staff is being.... staff.

They'd rather pull their own teeth out than investigate anything that might make them ban a whale.

Forgive me for using an RPG metaphor, but: Sometimes you have to hand things over to mercenaries when the authorities are corrupted.

(Also, said folks sent me emails in case said assholes are banned, and shit hits the fan.)

That's fair enough. They need a smoking gun on site, like they had with Brightmyth to even consider it.

But it feels odd in this case when there's little anyone but staff can do other than block and avoid.

Well, at any rate, it makes sense in that case. And there's no point in you risking a ban when staff already has everything you do and won't act.

No, Brightmyth had multiple accounts and was found out because he submitted a ticket with the wrong email or some shit.

the fuckton of money is from printing popular UMAs, yeah. but the ban was for multiaccounting. according to a post on brightmyth's own tumblr, they said their previous accounts were made when they were younger and hadn't been touched for years. i don't know how much money they actually made from those, but no 13 year old running g&g on a couple of multis could have earned enough gems to buy the two g1 triples in their old lair lmao

Yea. I wasn't saying the wealth came from the multis. Brightmyth got wealthy legitimately, and was likely a good way to get folks buying gems.

But that smoking gun mistake of using the wrong email made it so staff couldn't really ignore the multi in fairness, even if the wealth wasn't from it.

And I do think staff tries to be fair in enforcement.
