An important update:

Due to a specific person being a complete child, comments are going to be screened by default.

This is only temporary, and I apologize for the inconvenience- this is going to be a pain in the ass for me, too, but multiple people have come forward about fears of doxxing, and this is the only way to make sure any doxxing is contained.

(This basically will force the doxxer to make a DW account to post any doxxing attempts unscreened, and will let me more reliably report them to DW staff/authorities.)

Again, I apologize, and will be working to unscreen comments as fast as possible, but I'm only one person.

(Vasemod has had some personal issues come up, so I am the only mod atm. Please bear with me until this bit of annoyance has passed.)

Yeah, it would be great if truly horrendous people could be banned because of offsite behavior, but it would be too easily abused.

Screenshots can be faked, and staff on FR can't access the behind the scenes information on sites like tumblr or twitter to see if someone faked/edited the information before taking the screenshot.

Sadly, I do believe that there absolutely would be some people (hopefully only a handful, but you never know) who WOULD fake 'evidence' against people they didn't like, just to get them banned, were this allowed. Look at how some people go through and add others to pinglists knowing it will cause those people anxiety or whatever, just because they disagreed on a forum thread. Look at some of the SMR posts about people who have 'rules' that others don't like (not rules about selling dragons, but 'rules' about asking people to not contact them)

See how many people were gleefully cheering on the idea of Alyx getting banned because they don't like her.

It's too easy for the internet mob at large to go from "I want this person banned." to "Let's make this happen by faking offsite crimes because they deserve it because we don't like them."

Yep, while I wasn't thinking of Alyx specifically, there have been a number of people who have, both on site and off, become the targets of various levels of dislike/harassment.

There have been people who have made screenshots of discords where they cut out certain parts to make things look worse than they are, where the summaries of those screenshots would use as inflammatory language as possible (a two line disagreement would become a full blown argument according to the summary) to make people go into the screenshots sympathizing with one party or the other.

So, I am definitely glad that FR doesn't ban for offsite things, even though when things are truly bad, it can suck a bit.
