An important update:

Due to a specific person being a complete child, comments are going to be screened by default.

This is only temporary, and I apologize for the inconvenience- this is going to be a pain in the ass for me, too, but multiple people have come forward about fears of doxxing, and this is the only way to make sure any doxxing is contained.

(This basically will force the doxxer to make a DW account to post any doxxing attempts unscreened, and will let me more reliably report them to DW staff/authorities.)

Again, I apologize, and will be working to unscreen comments as fast as possible, but I'm only one person.

(Vasemod has had some personal issues come up, so I am the only mod atm. Please bear with me until this bit of annoyance has passed.)

The user had 2 dragons previously owned by Alyx at the time of the ban. The first was renamed Fishmael and cover in memes. The second was renamed Groupon and scattered.

Multiple things the user is known to not like seeing done to dragons bought from her. She was still actively using the sale thread Groupon was bought from with a picture in the sold section. There was no way she was going to miss that he was no longer the color he was sold as.

You may not mind, but Alyx did and reported it. Which is her right. That's really all that matters in the eyes of the rules.

You can play devil's advocate all day long, but it all comes down to deliberate choices being made, and a pattern the staff decided was not acceptable on report.

The block evasion I can get being mad about, especially if there's beef between them. I'm just hung up on Alyx being a petty shithead.

I am high, so like, take this with a grain of salt. If you remove the block evasion out of the equation, changing a dragon they bought into whatever (serious, joke, scattering, geneing, etc) is the right of the new owner, and shouldn't be a reportable action if it's not blatantly offensive/targeted.

I'd never buy a dragon from anyone who'd report me for regening/scattering/changing the bio of a dragon I paid for.

Again- take the block evasion out of it- and Alyx is a pissy, petty little whiner, and if they don't want dragons to change... they shouldn't sell them.

They're all petty shitheads, honestly. Both sides.

The block evasion is the only reason it was reportable. If Weevil hadn't done that, he would not be banned.

If it had just been Fish, staff wouldn't care. If Groupon hadn't been bought from Alyx with Weeviĺ's money and ended up in Weevil's lair through a third party, they wouldn't care.

You wouldn't have problems because even high, you understand that if you know the user is like that, it's not worth it to buy that dragon. They were too busy figuring out how to maneuver getting that dragon to stop and ask "Should I really do this?"

alyx is not in the right, but weevil basically made it easy for alyx to report him and friends and get them into trouble.

i have a really hard time being empathetic towards weevil. alyx has been a well known shitter for a while, and specifically a known shitter for caring what happens to the dragons they sell. as soon as i heard that alyx watches their sold dragons i decided yep, never ever going to buy from them. but weevil and friends who knew alyx was known for doing this decided to not interact once but twice? like c'mon. you can't tell me that none of these people were aware it would annoy or upset alyx.

one of the dragons was sent to Vynne who said they "have no idea" [doubt] why. but vynne made the dragon their avatar?

all four of them give me the impression that we aren't being given the full story.

i could've sworn said it was against the rules to do what alyx is doing here, isn't it site policy that once a dragon leaves your lair you have no right to dictate what happens to that dragon? im confused

I think you can have all the rules you want about a dragon you sell, but they cannot be enforced by the site.

So, basically, Alyx can have whatever rules she wants on the dragons she sells, but the minute she tries to enforce them, SHE will be the one in trouble.

However, blocking people doesn't fall under, as far as I know, the 'trying to enforce the rules' umbrella, so she is perfectly within her rights to block people who don't follow said rules.

So, unless there are instances of Alyx contacting other people and harassing them (and I think at this point there would be screens of said instances) what she is doing isn't technically against the rules, because she isn't trying to enforce those rules on the people who don't follow them. She is just blocking those people to prevent them from buying further dragons from her, which, again, is perfectly within her rights to do so.

oh, i see. i think i got confused because people mentioned alyx being very controlling with what happens to their dragons after being sold by messaging people, then assumed the same happened here. thanks!

I haven't heard of her messaging people, but I believe there is a fine line between a simple message and harassing people. I just thought that with the way people dislike Alyx, if she really was harassing people (as opposed to having the rules and blocking people) there would have been evidence in the form of screenshots.

However, I don't really pay attention to what happens in situations like this. I don't know Alyx, not sure I ever interacted with her, don't know Weevil (and again not sure I ever interacted with them or their friends), and I rarely buy dragons, so there may be a lot I am missing about this.

The dragon ownership rule also states that it's not allowed to exploit that site policy to harass someone else so there's that.

That's what I was thinking and that this block was some kind of reverse uno card Alyx was using to snub people who did as they pleased, TOS abiding speaking, with the dragons they bought from her. While there could have been more to this situation than Weevil admitted, I still feel like Alyx may have been abusing the block function to punish people she couldn't mess with otherwise regarding her BS rules. So that's why I especially frowned upon the threat of a permanent ban for Weevil and all those people involved. In many other situations that ban would have been justified.

I mean, how is Alyx abusing the block system and those who block undercutters so they don't know the current LAH prices not?

If someone doesn't want to sell dragons to someone else, they don't have to. If they find people skirting their block to sell dragons to that person, they are allowed to block everyone involved.

I haven't seen the list of rules, but the few that I have heard of are ridiculous. However, I also don't see how Alyx is abusing the block function, unless she is blocking and unblocking to harass, then reblocking them so they can't reply to her.

There are a lot of ways that people can 'abuse' the block system by blocking people they don't like, but it isn't really abuse, because you can block for any reason, at any time.

The dragon ownership policy is a hot mess of contradictions. You can't force folks to follow your rules, but if you regularly go to free to non exalt home threads for fodder, that's a violation.

And yea, you aren't supposed to weaponize the rules.

I think that particular contradiction is with regards to a 'bad faith' rule.

IE, if you get free dragons from those threads and eventually exalt them, that is fine, because the staff can't say you didn't have the intention of keeping said dragons.

If you are getting those dragons under the pretense you will keep them, and immediately turn around and exalt, then you are acting in bad faith with regards to the thread.

It isn't a contradiction. The throughline is "Don't be a shithead"
