Spooky Spite

An important update:

Due to a specific person being a complete child, comments are going to be screened by default.

This is only temporary, and I apologize for the inconvenience- this is going to be a pain in the ass for me, too, but multiple people have come forward about fears of doxxing, and this is the only way to make sure any doxxing is contained.

(This basically will force the doxxer to make a DW account to post any doxxing attempts unscreened, and will let me more reliably report them to DW staff/authorities.)

Again, I apologize, and will be working to unscreen comments as fast as possible, but I'm only one person.

(Vasemod has had some personal issues come up, so I am the only mod atm. Please bear with me until this bit of annoyance has passed.)

imho (retired dom organizer here), it's best to casually get started finding a few other people in your flight who enjoy dom the same way you do, or who already run activities you're interested in, and curate your dom experience that way. forum threads are great for orientation to the goals and objectives, but there's no real substitute for participation and for learning by doing.

one of the reasons i retired from dom is that even in the 'best organized' flights, it's still possible for cultures to shift and for individual team dynamics to no longer be a fit -- which is a separate reason altogether from quality of organization. my participation might have been more personally sustainable if i'd followed my own advice from the previous paragraph and made a bit more effort to curate my experience lol. while i enjoyed dom when i did it and still keep in touch with a few friends who are still active organizers, im personally very happily casual/uninvolved for now.

AYRT

i think that's also a great way to do that and probably the most ideal way for a vast majority of users, but personally while i'm very good at team-based communication and thoroughly encourage it, socializing is insanely taxing on my mental health and the less interaction i have with others the better. because of this, lists like the one that was shared is immensely valuable information, as it allows me to make up for my lack of socializing by doing the thing i do best: personal, detail-heavy research.

it fits specific niches of users who play solo and might not want to converse with others, those who prefer to do deep investigation before acting, or even players who come from other games with similar systems who want to dive headfirst into dom. it gives a structured idea of concepts that might be important to you and what to look out for, but enough room for you to do your own thinking and come to your own conclusion.

agreed -- particularly if the intent is to get started in dom without proceeding into an organizational capacity. my comments apply more to anyone considering becoming an organizer, themselves. i ran a few popular in-flight programs without interaction or support from my flight's team for about a year before getting a surprise invite lol.
