Spooky Spite

An important update:

Due to a specific person being a complete child, comments are going to be screened by default.

This is only temporary, and I apologize for the inconvenience- this is going to be a pain in the ass for me, too, but multiple people have come forward about fears of doxxing, and this is the only way to make sure any doxxing is contained.

(This basically will force the doxxer to make a DW account to post any doxxing attempts unscreened, and will let me more reliably report them to DW staff/authorities.)

Again, I apologize, and will be working to unscreen comments as fast as possible, but I'm only one person.

(Vasemod has had some personal issues come up, so I am the only mod atm. Please bear with me until this bit of annoyance has passed.)

thread title.

for me, i would love if we could use the FR emojis to "react" to forum messages like on other forums. i know it will probably never be added due to concerns with harassment/bullying, but in that exact same vein it would be so so funny for a stupid post to have a dozen spiral_confused emoji reacts.

When the site first opened, you could "like" forum posts. Still not sure why they removed it and never brought it back.

Me? I wish they'd implement a site based nursery/nest rental system, maybe in the trading post.

I've always wanted the flight change vials if they could do it, because that would solve the need for nest rentals in many cases, as well as provide other benefits such as pretty and matching eyes for dragons, and players getting to customize their lore according to the dragon's function in the coliseum. It would also likely be a really popular feature, and if it were premium the site could expect to see a lot of IRL income for a vial or scroll. People will go ham for that level of customization, especially the gen 1 people I'd imagine.

Much of the defense against why there isn't one tends to be weak or superficial in its arguments [no, changeable FR lore shouldn't be stopping a high-income feature from being introduced]. The only valid concern is the time, constraints, and labor that could be involved in re-writing the code, and how feasible it would be to automatically remove battle stones and other attributes on dragons. I'm guessing this is why this feature was never retroactively considered. Sad, but understandable if that's the case. Maybe they'll get time to work on new projects like this someday.

You see it as a high income feature that users would love. I see it as something that would ruin part of the challenge of the site and drive folks away.

At that point, you might as well just let users pay to make the perfect dragon. If you're going to allow that, why can't I just pay to make a triple g1 with matching eyes?

Instead of an item that lets you change the flight of an existing dragon, it would be a lot less disruptive to let you temporarily change the element of one of your nests. I agree that people shouldn't be pushed to an unsupported behavior such as lending out their dragons, with the potential for scams and inconvenience to everybody, as the only possible avenue for getting hatchlings with a different eye color. (I get the initial intent was probably a purist 'users in Fire flight will only ever have fiery-themed pairs/fandragons/etc' mindset, but that's not how people work and nest renting is such an obvious loophole that clans 'using' nests of other elements is going to happen anyway.

“Official” dom vaults/banks.

As a player, they’d be neat to have to minimize the massive amount of additional work individual volunteers can do. In practice, they’d be hell on earth to moderate/approve/administer and the amount of potential petty drama that would arise would be exponentially more than the effort, especially for what is a community-fueled and approved system.

Also, the ability to take items and dragons out of banned accounts. Again, potential for abuse = astronomically high so it will never happen, but there’s so many pretty dragons and rare items stuck in those…

tert-only scatter scroll. I get why they won't add it and it does make sense but like....... I want one :( I have a sentimental hatch date g1 xxy but the y does not match at all and I'd kill to be able to change it

An official feature that replaces user nest rentals. It could be a NPC that offers an elemental blessing. Or one that's a travel agent that arranges a romantic getaway for your pair in another territory. It could cost a small fee or be limited to 2-3x/month or something.

I'm just tired of designing pairs that match my Flight's eyes; I really can't be arsed to deal with renting nests from other users. Sure, I could just make pairs out of whatever dragons, but I swear they don't sell as well if the eyes don't match.

Felt, I'm in Lightning for assorted lore reasons and just generally enjoying the aesthetic (plus cyans/teals are my favourite colours) but lightning eyes are really clashing with breeding pairs that aren't made for them. I've had fun coming up with some pairs that fit a lightning theme but there's so many other vibes I want to go with for my pairs that would just clash a little too much.

I would like to have a "user shop" for skins and accents, it would take the pain out of so much micro managing a shop and would give some security to the buyer rather than to send the skin maker the gems and hope they get what they paid for

- artists would have to submit their skin/accents first to FR mods for approval, as usual
- once the skin/accent is approved the artist can list the skin in their user shop and set the price, amount printed and maybe the maximum of copies that will be distributed if they want to limit their skins/accents, maybe even set it to 1 copy per customer
- once enough people have paid into that "pot" to cover the blueprint cost and the price the artist has set, it gets automatically printed and sent to the people that paid, artist gets their gems also automatically sent to them
- people that paid can pull out any time before the skin is printed and get their gems back
- artist can cancel the order at any time before the skin is printed and all money is automatically returned
- maybe make it that if the skin shop owner stops being active on FR, lets say they don't log in for a week, the shop gets automatically "locked" (just closed, like a real shop) that skins are just not printed over and over and stuff, once the artist logs in again they just need to confirm that they want to open their shop again etc.
- if a shop gets "locked" people can pull out their paid gems at any time, or let them sit in case they want to wait that the artist returns, but not pay again until the shop is open again

- upside:
* skinmods dont have to approve skins over and over when they are already approved and in the system
* also faster turnarounds once the skin is approved the first time
* takes out the gamble that people have to do when ordering from skin shops and when the artist dissapears

- downside:
* since they is no official treasure conversion people would have to pay with cold hard gems all the time, but for that we the various gem buy shops so I personally dont see a big issue converting the gems yourself tbh

thats all what I can think of so far, feel free to add your thoughts since we are building cloud-castles here :)

I would really like the ability to preview skins on morphologies in the Preview Skin popup window that shows up when you click on a skin's icon. Just a quick dropdown menu to select from Dragons or Morphologies would do. It'd make the process of finding a matching skin for projects so much easier, but I can't see them doing stuff like that with the amount of genuinely important stuff they constantly put on the backburner.
