Not salt, but I just found out from a friend that not every flight has their Dom Bank's numbers available for viewing. How do you know if your donations are actually going towards it, then?

in the same vein, are exalt levels recorded personally in other flights? as in, are you expected and trusted to record all your personal levels? do other flights' teams have a stricter record to check on their end during internal pushes?

recent smr post actually made me think: we know that dominance is shitfucked in regards to how exalts from different flights are weighted, but exactly how shitfucked is it.

arcane keeps getting pushed out of placing by beastclans, but it feels like we exalting way too much for that to keep happening? how many levels total do other flights usually do? are we actually just not exalting that much after all???

The thing is, arcane is profit pushing with plague having a PB and they allow dragons sent OOF to be recorded for profit pushes. The only profit push which they don't allow that is during a 'placing profit'. It's quite normal for arcane to scrape a 3rd place max if there's an OOF PB/raffle going actually.

the discussion about the trust- based dom bank donations has me thinking about a question again that I've had for a long while:
how do dom organizers make sure that people aren't lying about the numbers/levels that they are exalting in order to get a better chance at the raffle? in both flights I've been in, you just had to fill out a spreadsheet/google form and that's it, no proof needed ?!

Suggestions for Arcane Dom (and other struggling teams)

I have been a dom enthusiast for a long time and have experience being on the dom team of a dom-heavy flight. These are my suggestions for how dom teams in general, but especially Arcane (based on what I've heard) can improve. Hope this helps.

1) Committees for different aspects of dom

It's difficult for one person to do all the work themselves, so you will need a few people for each aspect of dom. One dom lead (or non-lead person who's super involved and okay leading a program) will be the point person for each committee. This means that any questions pertaining to this aspect should go to this person and they are in charge of integrating their part with all the other parts of dom.

For example, one person is in charge of rounding up artists and getting art made. It is their responsibility to determine when art is needed (to give artists enough time) and what art is needed for each push. They will maintain a pinglist for artists, ping them when it's time for graphics for a new push, keep track of who said they would do what, and then, say, a week out from the push, make sure everything is done and that other artists can take over if someone else flaked out.

Other aspects of dom that need a point person (that I can think of off the top of my head) include the following. Take some time to figure out what point people your team needs and what that person's responsibilities are. If anyone is no longer able to be the point person, it is their responsibility to say they need help. Sometimes two point people might be better, and some of these might be simple enough to be someone's "second job."

- Dom bank: This person makes sure the bank spreadsheet is up to date and that the flight has enough money for hosting PBs, festivals, and other dom events. They should make sure the flight has enough money for upcoming events and if not, should work with fundraisers to make sure fundraising goals are reached. The bank funds should be split among different people for safety reasons.

- Raffle team: The raffle team's biggest job will be for the flight festival and any battles. Other than that, they might host IF raffles for smaller pushes or similar. There should not be too many raffles in a year to avoid burning out this person as well as people in the flight who donate items. This person's job is to determine what prizes are needed for upcoming raffles, solicit donations, and work with fundraisers to raise funds for other needed items.

- Fundraising: There should be someone making sure the flight is bringing in money to use for future events. There are a WIDE array of possible fundraisers you can run on FR, so this person may need to work with other leads in case they need graphics, spreadsheets, etc. This person can also guide other flight members in running their own fundraisers and act as support for that.

- Communications: This person is in charge of IF/OOF communications, which includes maintaining and pinging the flight's dom pinglists as well as being in contact with DW and reserving DW posts. This person also maintains dom info threads and makes sure the links, dates, etc. are all up to date and does coding for push threads, etc.

- Spreadsheet whiz: This doesn't necessarily need to be its own position, if there's enough spreadsheet knowledge among the rest of the dom team. But there has to be someone (or ideally a few someones) who is good with spreadsheets. If your team doesn't have this, you can ask other dom teams for help. Personally, I would like to see more dom teams helping each other.

- Graphics: As mentioned previously, there should someone who wrangles artists and keeps them on track so that graphics are planned and produced on time for pushes. This person might also run foddart and/or work with skin artists for special events.

2) Scheduling and delegation

Now that you have your point people, you need to figure out what needs to happen when. Most flights already have pushes planned out, so take a look at your calendar and figure out how much time each team member needs to do their job. Let's say you have a push in 6 weeks. Make sure that the graphics and spreadsheet people get a headstart so they're not crunched at the end. Allow buffer time for mishaps. An example schedule might look like:

Week 1 - ping to announce push, ping artists to sign up for needed art, check bank status, plan and implement fundraisers over next few weeks if needed
Week 2 - fundraising
Week 3 - send reminder to artists
Week 4 - recruit attendants for PB, prepare attending spreadsheets
Week 5 - all art turned in; find replacements for missing art, code push threads
Week 6 - push begins!

So, we pinged the whole flight in Week 1. This includes invitations to help if anyone wants to participate. Over the next 6 weeks, any interested flight members should be put to work. If they want to fundraise or do art, the point people should help them with whatever they need. Now that we have committees with defined responsibilities, we can delegate more easily and determine which areas need more support.

3) Improved communications

Communications with flight members should be regular (at least monthly) as you are most likely always either planning for a push, in the middle of a push, or fundraising for a push. It's easy to set up a general dom pinglist as well as pinglists (plus Discord roles) for each committee as needed. General dom pings should include information about upcoming pushes and what's needed for these upcoming pushes, as well as any preparation/fundraising events happening in the meantime. A lot of dom stuff happens outside of pushes! If it helps, you might have a regular date for dom pings, and skip only if nothing is happening.

Make sure you have a single dom thread you can point to where all information is concisely displayed and relevant links are organized. The FR forums can be confusing, but they don't have to be. If I switched to your flight right now, I should be able to easily find your main dom thread and quickly learn about what I can to immediately start helping with whatever is needed. Make sure opportunities for anyone to help are clearly displayed.

4) Fundraising

Fundraising should pretty much always be happening if you want to be a competitive dom flight. During WvE, Water spent over a billion treasure. This doesn't mean you need to raise that much, because during a battle you get back some money through exalting, but your bank should probably be at 500 million treasure or more to be in good shape for a battle.

If you're not looking to battle any time soon, it doesn't matter as much. Pulling off a good festival raffle or a chill PB to buy first place for your flight is not that expensive. At the very least, though, you should have a few regular fundraisers so that you're breaking even. I can provide more fundraising advice if needed but each flight seems to have their own things going already so I won't elaborate more.

5) Building dom skills/morale

It's not enough for the dom team to know what's going on. Flight members should be as involved as possible too. I highly recommend these three things for morale:

1) Don't let people use their own funds for attending. I am flabbergasted that some flights don't distribute bank funds for attendants to use. How are people supposed to get involved if they think they have to spend their own money? The whole point of the dom bank is that it's collective funds to be used for events.

2) Buy your flight first place with a PB at least a couple times a year outside of your fest. A chill PB will not cost you more than say, 20 million treasure (partially because of exalting money). This is a very small price to pay to keep the flight happy. It is very frustrating to be stuck in a flight because you love the lore/community/whatever but you can never expand your lair or get discounted scrolls. If your flight members know they can get their needs met at least a few times a year they'll be much happier!

3) Don't leave people on the forums out. It is sad when I see dom forums described as dead. They shouldn't be. There are many reasons people don't want to be on Discord; some minors may not even be allowed. There should not be ANY information that is exclusive to Discord. This has the added benefit of making sure everything is well documented in the forums so it's easier for new people, casual players, etc. to join in and to go back and look stuff up.

In order to pull off PBs and raffles (and especially if you want to be competitive in a battle), you need attendants who know what they're doing. Having a couple PBs every year is great to refresh people and get newbies some practice. Recording can be optional if people want to practice for an upcoming raffle. Encourage people to try attending even if they're apprehensive. You want as many as people at least familiar with it, so that when you're in a crunch, you have more people who can hop in. Make sure your attending process is as easy as possible so people don't feel as intimidated and can process dragons quickly.

Nurture your base of heavy exalters! These people are valuable and we don't want to lose them all to Earth lol. Even during chill profit pushes, have some incentives, like a badge for exalting 1000 levels or a mini raffle, or a scavenger hunt game. You can encourage them with these things even outside of pushes! I also highly recommend having a level 25 lending or even giveaway program so that it's easy for new/casual players to participate. Again, if someone even has some familiarity with coli, it'll be easier for them to jump in later when they may actually be needed.

Keep the lines of communication very open and very transparent. No hidden bank or raffle sheets. It comes across as sketch. These aren't DoD secrets, they're pixel dragons. It's okay if randos know how much money your flight has. Your flight members have entrusted you with their hard earned money and items for the purpose of putting on dom events for them, so make sure they're very aware of how those assets are being spent. Many people find dom leads intimidating. Try to alleviate that by making it seem less like an exclusive club. You want people to be comfortable approaching you and asking you things, and you want to give the impression that anyone who's interested can jump right in.

Hopefully this is all helpful! I'm sure there's a bunch of stuff I forgot, but hopefully this gives some idea of how to improve things.

It doesn't look like we're very organized this week. No post on the Dom Watch thread yet. No real word on what we're doing this push. Our IF raffle thread is a broken mess- a reused image from the last profit push theme, a typo in the opening paragraph, a broken image link, and most egregiously: the links to the spreadsheet and submission forms are from a previous push, so they're all closed and unusable.

There's a bit of activity on the forums to prepare for our joint push with Earth. Maybe everyone got so tied up with it that we forgot about our profit push this week?

I feel bad as if I could have done anything to help, but I'm just a casual dom participant at most.

It pisses me off to no end that Earth gets to place top 3 EVERY WEEK even when not even pushing. Fuck Earth for attracting all the heavy exalters from the other flights. Fuck Earth. Fuck Earth so bad oh my god I am so sick of seeing them pass flights that are actually conquest pushing.

it sucks knowing that flameforger's this year is likely to be just as disorganised as it was last year. i was one of the many people that raised feedback about the issues surrounding what fire dom was doing last year and even went to the lengths of running an event that used to run at least once last year. making sure that i could give fire what it really needed but it's REALLY disheartening when I get dreams telling me to move to other flights because it'll end up just like last year. it sucks, guys. like fire's GREAT, but i can't keep doing this.

like sure there's been SOME improvements but you can't tell me it's not discouraging as hell when you notice like the majority of the dom team's on hiatus or just coming back from hiatus less than a month from the push, the fact that the team only pinged foddart and made the raffle attending sign up thread after users were talking about it in the discord. it's not a good look at all and does not bring me confidence.

maybe this year's flameforgers WILL be different and I hope so, because if it's not then I'm leaving after the fire vs water battle, since I have made a committment in that regard to run an event for the battle. maybe to earth, so I can get projects done and actually be able to expand my lair, or to another flight with a more active dom scene that my skills would be useful in.

like i know this is a few weeks before flameforgers but it's not looking good again, and idk. I'm skeptical. I'm hoping that we've learned from last year's mistakes with the fest push and that we're not leaving oof people high and dry like what happened last year. admittedly there's probably not gonna be as much drama like what happened last year but yknow.

Hi, I'm that previous ember anon that warned y'all that this year's ff push was giving me a bad gut feeling that it'd blow up and i did see some people come to support.

I just want to be very very clear about this.

there was a plan by a few users to actually, yknow, make a new dom team. for years, actually. every time someone says "oh Duchess should step down and let new people lead" I can't help but have to laugh because how many times has that been said only for wider response by the community is to...keep letting this happen instead of sticking to your guns and standing by these very people when we actually go to talk about it.

Admittedly, this annoys me, because I have seen people be wary of Fire's reputation within our flight because of the fiasco upon fiasco that keeps happening. Especially when that impacts the support we get from OOF. We need OOF support to be able to pull this off and we need to ensure that we have that support.

You guys did it with Arcane and the old Celestial Senate dom team, and you all supported the other flights with the same energy when they needed to push out bad actors in their leadership. I think we genuinely need OOF support, especially from other Dom Teams, to put pressure on Duchess to either give up the reigns or at least step back and let new blood lead. The rest of the AA? Are actually sweet. They're just as frustrated as the Embers are, and as you guys are, that these issues keep happening, based on the convos I've had with them.

It's not the team making the decisions.

It's Duchess.

And if the flights altogether want the best for Fire, we need your support in actually making a change of guard with Duchess happen. You guys need to put pressure and a spotlight on this. If you all knew about these issues being a result of Duchess' leadership for years, then this is the call of action you need.

The real reason we haven't done a 'mutiny' like the lore of our Flight? Because we can't tell if OOF is going to actually support this new team. Embers would need to take some time readjusting. But the main bulk of support we need is from the outside, because without enough OOF support, it'll fail and we become more disorganised. And then the same issues will continue to crop up again and we're back at square one.

I realise that this could be a bit of a hot take and turn some people off, but at the end of the day, if you want something done you gotta push for the change to make it happen. If the other flights want Fire to make a change like what's being proposed, then you guys gotta help make that happen.

So I know that fire was thrown for a weird loop with the person that was handling the OOF vanished but I really hate that the the list of events for Fire flight on dom watch doesn't feature the 50/50. I just found out the 50/50 is being hosted by someone not on the AA.

So in fire, even if you put together an amazing event it only counts if you are part of the AA. VYPERSENSOR's 50/50 is amazing and I hope they get plenty of love. Thankfully the ones who run dom watch like Sadistic actually see events run by members of a flight as important

Fire is backing out of the October FvW battle and restructuring their dom team ???? Finally!! Shame about FvW, but this was a long time coming.

An update regarding FireDom

Hello, it is Pessi once again, sorry it has taken me a bit to get back with yall.

A little bit ago I made a post mentioning that me, OOF dom team members, and fellow embers were all discussing how to change course for Fire Dom, and that i'd follow up with you all here regarding this. Things were discussed such as new organization, a complete reform to how the team operates, and discussion of our current lead stepping down due to their periodic absences due to irl reasons during important times when we've needed them... Newer members such as me, and a few others were for the idea. While the rest of the team seemed for the other two ideas brought to them, the idea of duchess stepping down entirely didn't seem to agree on them, rather, they wanted her to stay on the team, just not have the role as a lead.

While initially this seemed ok to roll with, when Duchess eventually reappeared (albeit briefly), there was only a mention of her having more of her responsibilities taken up, rather than the aforementioned having her step down as a lead. Additionally, I was offput by a message from one of the members (not listing who), stating I did not care about the team's opinions, for not having private channels for the team. Keep in mind, the "server" was basically a larger group chat so that us, embers, and OOF Dom team members to share the current state of FireDom and take advice on how to improve on it. This message was also sent to me right after I had invited a particular user who had left fire into the server, who had on-going issues regarding FireDom that lead to them leaving.

Another question that I am sure a lot of you are wondering is the cancellation of WvF. While me and the team were discussing things, OOF Dom Team members brought up the fact that we are very unprepared for a battle with Water. Water gave Earth a run for their money last battle, and considering how underprepared we were, a fight with Water would mean a certain curbstomp and unfun fight for both parties. Water has been prepping ever since the fight was announced- and we had nothing. Not only would we be possibly trying to reform the team and reorganize, but we would also be rushing assets, events, etc in only 2 months. Due to this, I had informed the Water flight that we needed to cancel the fight. That being said, thank you Ice for stepping in, water deserves a fight especially with all of the hard work they have put into planning and assets. To embers, I am sincerely sorry that the announcement about the cancellation of the fight was delayed to you. We were in the process of brainstorming the announcement when the announcement from Water was leaked into FRC. Please know that we had no intentions of withholding this information from you all- despite previous communication issues with the flight.

Continuing to the second paragraph I had typed here, I will not be mentioning names, but a lot of this had left a very poor taste in my mouth, not including the many grievances already shared here by others that I also have with the AA. With all things considered, I had returned the attending funds to one of the bank holders, and today eventually announced at 4:52 PM EST that I was leaving AA due to creative differences. 6 PM- No response... 8 PM- activity in a different channel, but yet again, no response. At this point, at 8:23 PM, I had left the AA server. I wish no ill-will to AA, but I no longer feel comfortable working with them due to these reasons.

Posted the same thing here in Fire's Discord so that embers are aware of this as well.

Flights to avoid

Given the recent Firedom shitshow, I figured a list like that would be helpful to Embers thinking of jumping ship and everyone else thinking of vacationing for various reasons. Especially since you can't easily dip out of a flight like you can out of a guild in most MMOs and it seems that dom orgs aren't easily displaced due to a combination of community pressure + dom bank being the way it is lmao.


Going to start of the list with:

- Fire for obvious reasons
- Lightning according to another anon here, I don't know the details of that myself so feel free to elaborate and show receipts.
- Arcane for the disorganization around dom. It's probably fine if you're a casual player but I feel like the disorganization would rear its head sooner or later. We'll see how it goes for them during their fest and AvL I guess.

I was told today that there are embers who just learned today that the battle with Water is canceled. Apparently the only announcement was a Discord ping. This announcement was still pinned in Discord, leading to confusion.
