longer answer: i think we have placed a certain amount of faith in the dom team to not funnel the funds as, afaik, we’ve never had that sort of issue with them. to be honest, i didn’t even know it was a common practice for the bank to even show how much is in it; i had figured it would open the door to arguments on how and where funds were used if the exact sum were to be shown, if that makes sense… but, then again, i also see why it would make one nervous to not be able to see that the money is actually there, and i also wouldn’t blame people for being a little upset if they found out we had a metric ton of money and weren’t using it for much these days. again, idk— could just be the trust that the team wouldn’t do something inappropriate with it. though it would suck if i was wrong, because we’ve raised a couple hundred million t for this current fundraiser alone, and who even knows how much else prior to it.
i don’t really know what’s going on with dom in my flight, which is unfortunate considering i’d be a lot more compelled to participate if things seemed more put together. but i’m think a lot of us might be too nervous to confront them since they’re otherwise pleasant, not to mention the question of who would come to run the show if anyone actually quits. i can’t recall anyone actually being brought on when some other dom leads retired or moved flights a while back.
sorry, this got a bit long! just have a lot of thoughts.
Well, even if they're funneling, I don't think anyone has proof or that they're doing it in a way that anyone can catch on right now so I don't expect anyone else to want to rock the boat regarding dom funds. I think it's mutually beneficial for dom funds info to be public though. A dom team running things in good faith wouldn't have anything to hide and would be less likely to run into confrontation from the more cynical bunch while the public would know when and what the funds are used for. An official flight bank feature would be great for that actually (cannot be bothered running into the suggestions pvp zone for that lmao just throwing it out there).
That said I don't think arcane dom's issue has to do with money right now, at least from what I can see. People are clearly willing to donate a lot to fund the bank in the current event. The disorganization and apparent lack of manpower seems to be the issue which is unfortunate really.
it's definitely not due to a lack of funds, yeah. i have no idea why feet are being dragged when it comes to reorganizing or getting more help, as this clearly isn't a well-working system. maybe it's been like this for so long that they don't see much of a reason to bother with it now? or maybe it's just that arcane's reputation of being a dom-less flight means nobody that has any lead experience would even think about moving there.
only option seems to be people stepping up regardless of experience, but, again, who wants to rock the boat? bit of a tough situation.

(Anonymous) 2023-07-07 12:29 am (UTC)(link)dom funds are the flight's funds. everyone worked together to raise the money so everyone should be able to see its status.
