Stardew Valley is the best idle game for any platform, I will never not recommend it. (Switch, ios, android, PC- PC is best bc you can mod it.)
Switch (if you have one) -Animal Crossing New Horizons -Pokemon (anything but Scarlet/Violet- it's buggy as hell; and Legends is like Dark Souls of Pokemon, so I don't recommend it if you need to take it easy- that game is STRESSFUL lol)
PC/Laptop: (I run on Steam) -Plague Inc Evolved -Diablo 4 (I hear it's good; I haven't been able to afford it)
Mobile: -Merge Dragons (It's really good for scratching that "I need to organize" itch. It keeps my ADHD satisfied) -Plague Inc -AFK Arena (It is a bit pay to play but I've been playing it as F2P since launch and it keeps me entertained.) -Card Thief (Sneaky solitaire type game that requires strategy and has really neat art!) -A Dark Room (text based RPG, similar to the Kittens Game- building up civilization and navigating the wilds) -Two Eyes Nanogram (nanogram game with soothing music and a sweet story about soulmates) -Lily's Garden (Cheesy "fix up the old house" type game with match three playstyle, but the characters are really well written and the game gives a lot of free lives, boosters etc, so it's not Pay to Play...I mostly play it when I'm high and it distracts me lol)
Disco Elysium & the Witness are the best RPG and puzzle games (respectively) in my book. Both have slower-pace gameplay with none or almost no stuff that requires great reflexes or reaction time or anything like that.
Slice and Dice (mobile available) - incredibly good indie game if you like roguelikes and basic RPGs. you get 5 characters in your party and play through 20 levels. each character has a die which has their attacks and can be leveled up and upgraded with items. TONS of replay value and the full game is only $7. if you dk if you'll like it there's a demo version.
Night in the Woods - this isn't new but it's well regarded. visual novel with platformer elements. with bonus social justice/labor organizing themes! also spooky/halloween/autumn themed if that's your jam.
Oxenfree - spooky visual novel about some friends who get stuck on a haunted island. has a few small puzzles and dialogue options and stuff. i have been told that different stuff happens when you play it a second time. :O
Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime - if you have a friend who can sit and play with you, this is a really fun and adorable co-op game where you steer a space ship around a 2D map and fight monsters. the characters are all cute woodland animals.

Imagine it's 2008-2010, everyone is watching Breaking Bad, and there's message boards where you can talk about it. Now imagine you are disabled and took a liking to Flynn/Walt Jr., because seeing a disabled character be treated like a person by the rest of the cast is nice, actually. But every time someone mentions Flynn in the message board, a gaggle of Walter White cocksuckers floods the replies to that post with stuff like "Oh yeah? Well, I hope Flynn gets killed in a violent way next time he gets a speaking line."
This isn't about Breaking Bad, and the analogy isn't perfect. But this is the state of another fandom discussion board I'm in, for a background character I sympathize with for different reasons (a show that also has a gaggle of cocksuckers for one of the main characters related to this background character). I just want to talk about my blorbos in peace, man. Is this a common occurrence or do the people just suck in this unnamed fandom?
Ime there are two very distinct flavors of this. The worst is Walter White cocksuckers descending with obvious intent to ruin the discussion for anyone that likes Flynn, because they hate Flynn, they hate anyone that likes Flynn because they can't imagine other people engaging with fandom in a way that isn't cocksucking and bullying, they think Flynn is dumb/problematic/gets in the way of their favorite blorbo, Flynn reminds them of their ex or a dream they once had so any and all discussion of him must be met with extreme hostility and rage, ect.
The other flavor is Walter White cocksuckers who don't care if you like Flynn or not, and enjoy talking about things they both like and don't like on the forum, and are oblivious to the fact that someone occasionally bringing up a character they dislike is not necessarily an invitation for them to react to the topic with their unsolicited opinion of: 'oh the forum is talking about Flynn now. no i think it's unfortunately like this in any fandom that gets more than a few crumbs of attention. it's why i never interact with anyone beyond small conversation and have entirely different alts for each of my interests, if the choice to just remain completely anonymous (like here) isn't available. not that i really engage in anything unusual or generally considered problematic, i just wouldn't touch most of the other people in the fandoms i'm in with a ten foot pole
sorry to bring up wolf site but anyone here seeing the shit show the newest update brought? tl;dr the thing most people are pissed off at is the implementation of a referral rewards system that 1. does not let you retroactively refer people and 2. having exclusive companions as rewards. idgaf either way but people were absolutely up in arms about it on the discord and theres like 4 threads in the pvp forums. the devs cant do a damn thing without a portion of the userbase throwing a fit.
I'm starting to think that maybe I'm a toxic person who is unpleasant to be around on Discord. But I can't tell if it's because of how I am as a person, or if it's because I've only ever been active in servers where the regulars are toxic drama mongers. I get into fights a lot, but it's always only been with people who've been mentioned in wanker threads. Does that mean I'm justified in verbalizing how I don't like the way they act, or does opening my mouth make me just as bad as them?
I hated my flight's server for being cliquey and got banned for being combative. I hate the 18+ server I'm in now because all of the regulars piss me off and Dakkoki lurks there and everyone is fine having him around. I can tell nobody likes me in that server either, for some reason I haven't been banned yet. (Maybe that's part of the problem. I've never seen someone get banned.)
It feels shitty because I think if I tried to find refuge in a new server, I would just bring this toxicity in with me. I want people to talk to, I want to feel like I'm not crazy for going against the grain. Maybe I'll never fit in anywhere, because I don't conform to the norms of Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, or 4chan subcultures.
As someone who used to moderate a flight server, I can tell you that banning someone from those servers does not happen lightly. I think most flights want to be inclusive and usually only ban people who are causing a lot of problems. Every flight server I've been in tends to be a little cliquey simply because people get to know each other and become friends. A lot of people pass through a flight and don't stay, so the people that do stay are more likely to talk to people they know and like.
I guess my question is, why are you staying in servers where people piss you off? There are many different kinds of subcultures on most of the sites you listed. You are never going to find a single person, let alone a group of people, that you agree with 100% of the time. People are varied, have their own life experiences, and even the best of them have a shitty opinion or two.
My advice: 1. Unless you are a moderator of a server, there is no need to verbalize your dislike of how someone is acting. If you don't like them, don't interact with them. If they are breaking a rule and a mod hasn't noticed, DM a mod and let them know. It's not your job to police the people in servers where you are simply a member.
2. Cut people some slack sometimes. You don't have to agree with everything someone says to get along. Sometimes it's okay to agree to disagree.
3. Leave a server if you don't like a majority of the people in it. You are allowed to curate your own online experience and staying in a group that constantly makes you angry is not healthy.
4. This sounds kind of ridiculous, but google how to stop being toxic. There are some really good articles out there.
at the risk of sounding condescending or otherwise generic, i want to tell you that i think its good that youre reflecting on this behavior. at a basic level i'd recommend finding a counselor or therapist (NOT betterhelp, that company sucks), if your financial situation allows for it. i am not a therapist, but i think the other anon had some good advice and i can try to give you some as well. follow them or not, i'm just some random anon on a drama site lmao.
first, i'd say you should think about why you feel like you find yourself in situations with toxic people, and think about why you engage with them. im not looking for you to answer these questions, but i'd recommend thinking about: - why do you feel the need to engage with them? does it feel fun/stimulating/justified/something else? do you think other people feel the same way when they see you do this? - why do you stay in spaces with people you think are toxic, or generally people who are often criticized on drama spaces? - why do you feel like you don't fit in in any spaces on the internet other than niche drama-centric servers?
if you feel as though you will inherently bring toxicity to other servers, i'd recommend making a journal, text doc, or even a private discord server with only yourself. whenever you feel the need to rant/call out/criticize someone, write down those thoughts in that private space and then - importantly - move on. make it as ranty as you want, because it's getting those negative thoughts out of your head instead of instigating a fight. in the long run you'd probably want to wean off those immediate aggressive thoughts, but this can help curb some behaviors that you think are toxic.
try to find a hobby or IRL group that gets you physically engaged. apps like iNaturalist and pokemon go can give you a reason to do stuff outside and makes you more aware of all the stuff going on in the world around you. see if there's any low-key clubs or organizations in your area, like a cooking club, birdwatching group, or maybe even a zoom book club. if those social groups aren't viable, you can still turn it into a solo hobby - find something that you think is fun, and give yourself little goals (eg. try making a new recipe a week, research and try to find a new local animal every weekend, etc).
with that in mind, i do think that there are absolutely spaces on the internet that you can find comfort in even if you feel like you'll never fully fit in. with my above recommendation to find an engaging hobby, i'd also recommend trying to tie that in with some sort of online community dedicated to that hobby, even if its just posting photos on reddit of cool bugs you saw. you don't need to do this with the intention of making deep conversation, but being a part of a community - even if its just on some surface level to talk about bugs - could help satisfy your need for connection.

I feel like I’m going to sound crazy for this, like I’ll just get told to get over it like I’ve been before, or get told I’m a little dumb for posting this kind of thing on a dragon petsite anon comm, but. Man. It’s hard to talk to people. And I don’t really know who to go to about it, since I don’t really have friends. Not because I’m a “bad person” or like… combative, or anything that I’m aware of that would usually turn people away, but I just feel like there’s something wrong with me that everyone else can see but I just cannot understand. I’ve tried talking to people in the servers I’m in, joining conversations, sharing dragons and stuff like everyone else does, but I get ignored every time I do, so I can’t help but wonder if there’s just something about me that puts people off. I try to be friendly and respond to people when they ask for opinions, I compliment people’s art and writing when they share it, etc… but I always feel like I’m fucking up by doing so, somehow, because I haven’t actually be spoken to in months despite frequently posting in servers. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, but it has to be something, right? I’d love to make friends in my hobby communities the way I used to as a kid but it’s harder than I remember now and I don’t understand why.

TL;DR the most recent update on the kickstarter page announced they will be foregoing the color wheel system for breeding in favor of... HSL? Hue, Saturation, and Luminosity. Maybe it's due the discussion about kinning and old Tumblr™ that made me remember this, maybe it's because I've been reading too much tumblr-aita, or this is just something that truly stuck to me, never to be forgotten. I am not posting this in the hopes that someone will know WTF I'm talking about, as this happened 15 years ago and the story was in Spanish. This is closer to venting and TL;DR.
This goes back to when I started to use the internet for something more than just YouTube to watch dumb videos, at 11 I discovered Pokeshipping thanks to, again, dumb videos (mostly AMVs in my futile search to find true scenes of the anime). Back then my English was trash and the translation tools weren't that great either. So one thing lead to another and I found fanfiction at 12. There was a site (of which I forgot the name) dedicated solely to store fanfiction in Spanish about those two, which honestly, was (probably) moderated decently, because I don't remember to have read harrowing/shocking shit in that place. The problem came when I finished all of the ones hosted there, going into the wild west of random ass fanforums, probably personal sites and, the then wilder, ffnet. Even then some of those stories I could immediately discard as boring or awful, others were "crash car" tier, those that are diamonds in the rough (nostalgia maybe) and the uniquely great fanfiction that if you told me their authors have made it big I wouldn't question it. But, there exist someone special in my memory.... not in the good way mind you.
This fanfic is placed in Hoenn,in the Advanced era probably. Ash is awoke and listening to a radio(?) And a romantic song (of course in Spanish) about separated lovers starts playing, he starts thinking about Misty and he decides to go find her or some shit. I stopped reading after the first chapter, because I shit you not, May wakes up to OoC Ash, and this fucker throws a big ass rock to her, killing her. No more though about this is given, Ash simply gives not fucks. Looking back at it, this whole thing is so ridiculous that I can't help but chuckle when remembering the details (but I still don't like to listen to that particular song). So, small me tries to find more about this author, and more of their works are in that site. In every story of theirs that May was present, she does. When Ash is not committing manslaughter of May, pokemon are the ones doing it, & I think in another story it was something like a character (80% sure it was Max) going "May is dead, lmao". Wild ass shit. Ofc I didn't read a fucking single thing of them, then I got better and found the videogames and haven't looked back to the anime since.
After some time, I tried to find the author again, but like a ghost I could never find them or the site. What I think disturbed me most, was the comments (I remember it was closer in UI to AO3) as most of them were encouraging the author.

at the risk of sounding condescending or otherwise generic, i want to tell you that i think its good that youre reflecting on this behavior. at a basic level i'd recommend finding a counselor or therapist (NOT betterhelp, that company sucks), if your financial situation allows for it. i am not a therapist, but i think the other anon had some good advice and i can try to give you some as well. follow them or not, i'm just some random anon on a drama site lmao.
first, i'd say you should think about why you feel like you find yourself in situations with toxic people, and think about why you engage with them. im not looking for you to answer these questions, but i'd recommend thinking about:
- why do you feel the need to engage with them? does it feel fun/stimulating/justified/something else? do you think other people feel the same way when they see you do this?
- why do you stay in spaces with people you think are toxic, or generally people who are often criticized on drama spaces?
- why do you feel like you don't fit in in any spaces on the internet other than niche drama-centric servers?
if you feel as though you will inherently bring toxicity to other servers, i'd recommend making a journal, text doc, or even a private discord server with only yourself. whenever you feel the need to rant/call out/criticize someone, write down those thoughts in that private space and then - importantly - move on. make it as ranty as you want, because it's getting those negative thoughts out of your head instead of instigating a fight. in the long run you'd probably want to wean off those immediate aggressive thoughts, but this can help curb some behaviors that you think are toxic.
try to find a hobby or IRL group that gets you physically engaged. apps like iNaturalist and pokemon go can give you a reason to do stuff outside and makes you more aware of all the stuff going on in the world around you. see if there's any low-key clubs or organizations in your area, like a cooking club, birdwatching group, or maybe even a zoom book club. if those social groups aren't viable, you can still turn it into a solo hobby - find something that you think is fun, and give yourself little goals (eg. try making a new recipe a week, research and try to find a new local animal every weekend, etc).
with that in mind, i do think that there are absolutely spaces on the internet that you can find comfort in even if you feel like you'll never fully fit in. with my above recommendation to find an engaging hobby, i'd also recommend trying to tie that in with some sort of online community dedicated to that hobby, even if its just posting photos on reddit of cool bugs you saw. you don't need to do this with the intention of making deep conversation, but being a part of a community - even if its just on some surface level to talk about bugs - could help satisfy your need for connection.

This goes back to when I started to use the internet for something more than just YouTube to watch dumb videos, at 11 I discovered Pokeshipping thanks to, again, dumb videos (mostly AMVs in my futile search to find true scenes of the anime). Back then my English was trash and the translation tools weren't that great either. So one thing lead to another and I found fanfiction at 12.
There was a site (of which I forgot the name) dedicated solely to store fanfiction in Spanish about those two, which honestly, was (probably) moderated decently, because I don't remember to have read harrowing/shocking shit in that place. The problem came when I finished all of the ones hosted there, going into the wild west of random ass fanforums, probably personal sites and, the then wilder, ffnet.
Even then some of those stories I could immediately discard as boring or awful, others were "crash car" tier, those that are diamonds in the rough (nostalgia maybe) and the uniquely great fanfiction that if you told me their authors have made it big I wouldn't question it. But, there exist someone special in my memory.... not in the good way mind you.
This fanfic is placed in Hoenn,in the Advanced era probably. Ash is awoke and listening to a radio(?) And a romantic song (of course in Spanish) about separated lovers starts playing, he starts thinking about Misty and he decides to go find her or some shit. I stopped reading after the first chapter, because I shit you not, May wakes up to OoC Ash, and this fucker throws a big ass rock to her, killing her. No more though about this is given, Ash simply gives not fucks. Looking back at it, this whole thing is so ridiculous that I can't help but chuckle when remembering the details (but I still don't like to listen to that particular song). So, small me tries to find more about this author, and more of their works are in that site. In every story of theirs that May was present, she does. When Ash is not committing manslaughter of May, pokemon are the ones doing it, & I think in another story it was something like a character (80% sure it was Max) going "May is dead, lmao". Wild ass shit. Ofc I didn't read a fucking single thing of them, then I got better and found the videogames and haven't looked back to the anime since.
After some time, I tried to find the author again, but like a ghost I could never find them or the site. What I think disturbed me most, was the comments (I remember it was closer in UI to AO3) as most of them were encouraging the author.
TL;DR: what the fuck.
