has anyone else noticed the amount of new accounts with progens that have 2L names?? what the hell is going on
must be some exploit someone discovered. tried renaming one of my permas to "ra" (for science) and it naturally didn't work. (for the record I'm happy with that dragon's name as it is and am not even interested in 2 letter names lmao)
two in the last 50 pages that i saw... interesting. i tried to rename my progen both of these names and it didn't work. it's not like a 2L progen has market value, just clout value ig

Genuine Q: How to presumably first time players know enough about FR to know that two letter names have value?
Interesting. I'd seen it mentioned onsite whenever 2 letter names pops up that you could name your progen that but also pretty sure I heard that that should have been fixed too... I guess it hasn't.

lately i stopped feeling bad for arcane dom participants at all because, seemingly, every time they try pushing outside of their festival and don't get 1st place they become such bad sports about it and start blaming earth immediately

There's a lot to blame Earth for but not realizing what is the difference between a profit push and a placing push isn't one of them - if you make a profit, you have a successful profit push, placing is a bonus; if you want to place, sorry boo, but then profit is the bonus and Earth existing has nothing to do with it.

The active size difference between Shadow, Arcane, Light, & Plague is not very much.
It should be clear that organization and attitude is where the important difference is but that's not nice to bring up so it's easier to just say the dom ratio makes it hard, right? B)

I get anon's point a lil bit but I don't see the point on being salty about Dom. Like first it's just a profit push, and this is just how the game is. I don't see how FR would revamp the DOM system to make it more "fair," like some have said. The smaller flights need something to account for the size difference, and people who like dom more move to earth so it just happens to get more heavy exalters. If FR changes the multiplier they'd be changing it for fire too, would that be fair? You can't target just one flight, every flight would be affected.

To be honest, I had wondered that as well. I missed whatever went down.
I can’t remember the user, but someone replied basically saying ‘if you’re gonna allow them to fight you may as well allow them to breed’, and a bunch of people proceeded to call them a creep. Aeq shut it all down pretty fast, so unfortunately no screenshots/Wayback.
(While I don’t agree with them, in the users defense they weren’t saying they wanted to breed EY dragons - they were arguing against the EY in Coli suggestion by using some sort of slippery slope argument. I don’t know why several people chose to interpret them as WANTING it when they clearly were against both things. I think their argument was silly but people chose to take their words in the worst possible way.)

I'm genuinely curious when I say this: how do ppl like these survive in the world?? How was that ask/post ableist?
maybe the comment was meant as a bit of a sarcastic jab at certain kinds of people?
that said, some people really do click the block button every time someone mildly inconveniences them and i always found it strange. like okay, you have a right to block everyone who has a red avatar and a username that starts with q! and i have a right to think you're weird and annoying for doing that.

The blocking talk reminded me about this. How do you handle someone with a DNI that applies to you approaching you?
I don't love the concept of DNI's in general and find most of them to be wanky. As a result I tend to avoid the people who have ones if I stumble upon them, which ultimately means that they're working as intended so win/win I guess.
But when I'm selling a dragon/item/service whatever I sometimes get approached by people with DNIs that technically applies to me. However in my eyes it shouldn't matter that I'm an adult/ships X/thinks Y when that's completely irrelevant to the situation in question, so in these cases I felt it would just be extra wanky if I went 'no, you can't buy this dragon because your DNI applies to me'.
Am I breaking some social etiquette by doing this?

I view DNIs more of ‘read this before YOU contact ME’ type thing. They chose to reach out to you - you’re not obligated to share any information about yourself and if the conversation is solely about whatever transaction, it should never come up anyway. They can’t reasonably expect you to go review their terms and agreements when they were the ones making initial contact.
Alternatively you COULD be petty and refuse the trade or whatever because you’re on their DNI. If it’s over something silly they might just reevaluate what they’re putting on there.

do we know why the site's admins are so very against against people starting over in a new account?
Because there are many options to 'start over'
- change your username
- change your flight
- exalt all your dragons and start with a new pair of G1s
etc etc.
If you need to like... start completely over because of drama... well, that's not the admins' fault.

One of the things I find really cool about FR is how for certain genes, on certain breeds, for certain poses even, there are fun little details and quirks.
Like how on Fae hatchlings with the Flecks tert, the flecks form a zigzag line above the mouth along the face.
Or how Bar on Aethers adds stripes to their horns. Or how Myrid on Aether females makes their tail floof have a heart shape in the spiral design.
Another fave is how Skydancers with Toxin as their secondary have those beautiful spots on their feathers.
What other ones have I not discovered yet?

Do not get me started on all the cute things that Nocturne hatchlings get applied with their primary gene: the feathers around the eye for Cherub, their batty nose and maw patch in Falcon, the contours there instead when it's Pinstripe, how Poison adds some cool color contrast banding in the middle of their face as does Savanna. Ripple emphasizes their nostrils! They made out like little bandits. BRB making a permababy noc monolair

Yeah, to be honest, as someone who DOES want santa hats (and in blue as well! my favorite color!), I wouldn't have recognized it as being a 'santa hat' without the drama surrounding it. It honestly looked more like a sleep cap than a santa type cap. (decided to do some portmanteau, and combined hat and cap and got cat... *sigh*)
I can understand people not wanting Christmas shoved everywhere, but, I honestly feel that way about Halloween. I dislike all the halloween I see shoved everywhere (and I am with people that Christmas songs should start at the earliest December 1st, unless you are playing them on your personal radio :P)
Again, as the OP of the other thread about this, I don't want full on Christmas Comes to Sornieth, I just want some little things to decorate my dragons with.

I was a pretty active artist on FR around when I joined 10-ish years ago (jesus fucking christ how's it been that long) and I was especially a fan of making adopts. I wasn't active on FR for a while up until recently, and I've been thinking of getting back into adopts again. So as a result I've been snooping around to see what's popular, how things are priced etc
And wow. Holy shit, the market's changed. Adopts seem to be priced so much higher than they used to be! I want to stress I don't think this is a bad thing at all, it's awesome to see art being valued so much higher and I'm glad artists are actually getting better bang for their buck. But it's been very fascinating to see how it's changed.
Take these adopts (https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/adopt/3242004) which are going for 400kt/g a pop. Back in ye olden days I feel like something of this size and level of detail would have commonly gone for around 50-100kt/g. Or these ones (https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/adopt/3379298) going for 600kt/g, whereas I think they would have usually been 300-400kt/g back then. Again, don't want to seem like I'm insinuating these aren't worth what they've been priced, I think it's totally affordable when G&G can net you 525kt a week if you max it daily. I think it's pretty interesting how things have changed.
I do wonder why this shift has happened. I think G&G is probably a big contributing factor, it's so much easier for your average played to amass a decent sum of money to spend on these things. But that can't be all it is... right? Or who knows, maybe I'm just out of touch and don't even remember that it's always been this way.

I've been making adopts on the site for nearly a decade, too. I used to sell one adopt for 50kt, which I now sell for 800g each (base) and customers are still going strong. I'm very glad that people are starting to charge more for their adopts.

annoyed that oilslick eclipse looks blue and not brown... i have several dragons with an oilslick tert who would look so good with eclipse if it were actually brown :/ why
