i definitely dont doubt that AC is experiencing struggles, in some way. i certainly see what looks like patterns of mental illness/struggle, and they've said as much themselves. but given how they (over?)react to a lot of things it really makes me doubt.png about the more serious things they claim. theyve been threatening imminent medical-related death for... many years now, if im not mistaken. the stress of keeping up that mindset is probably doing more damage than anything else.
at the absolute bare minimum i don't think its an unfair statement to say that they need to seriously reconsider their finances if they solely rely on guilt-tripping donations to supposedly stay alive in increasingly perilous conditions, while also pissing away money on videogames and luxury goods.

They claim that they are completely alone and have no family and friends because they all left them to die in this and several other Ko-Fi posts(1), but make later posts(2) claiming that their mother (who is now apparently in a coma) went to the hospital and that they need money for the bill and that their father also died (on Christmas no less). Allegedly their father provided financial support and their mom lived with them. This isn't even including their sister winterlywitch who has taken to speaking on their behalf at times, the fact that the fundraiser for their cat was set up by a friend (3), another friend from FR who trades with them (4), and a partner (5). So they're all alone and abandoned but also have people who have provided them both financial and emotional support? Something's not adding up.
I also believe they had posts on their Ko-Fi requesting donations for a photoshop license because it was the only art program that did not trigger their migraines (they even posted a screenshot of an email as proof that they spent the money on the license), but then made later posts requesting donations for other art programs (Medibang maybe, but I can't remember specifically). I believe they've deleted their posts, but you can find the photoshop post archived on their tumblr astral_crescent (6), which conveniently has been wiped. Their Ko-Fi has also been archived several times but I can't make it work for me (7).
This isn't even including their various (and oftentimes rare) medical problems which in a vacuum generally wouldn't arouse my suspicion, but the fact that they claim they have all these mental and physical health issues combined with their overall behavior makes me take them with a huge grain of salt. There's probably a kernel of truth that's been greatly exaggerated imo.

They claim that they are completely alone and have no family and friends because they all left them to die in this and several other Ko-Fi posts(1), but make later posts(2) claiming that their mother (who is now apparently in a coma) went to the hospital and that they need money for the bill and that their father also died (on Christmas no less). Allegedly their father provided financial support and their mom lived with them. This isn't even including their sister winterlywitch who has taken to speaking on their behalf at times, the fact that the fundraiser for their cat was set up by a friend (3), another friend from FR who trades with them (4), and a partner (5). So they're all alone and abandoned but also have people who have provided them both financial and emotional support? Something's not adding up.
I also believe they had posts on their Ko-Fi requesting donations for a photoshop license because it was the only art program that did not trigger their migraines (they even posted a screenshot of an email as proof that they spent the money on the license), but then made later posts requesting donations for other art programs (Medibang maybe, but I can't remember specifically). I believe they've deleted their posts, but you can find the photoshop post archived on their tumblr
This isn't even including their various (and oftentimes rare) medical problems which in a vacuum generally wouldn't arouse my suspicion, but the fact that they claim they have all these mental and physical health issues combined with their overall behavior makes me take them with a huge grain of salt. There's probably a kernel of truth that's been greatly exaggerated imo.

Like, maybe there is something there, but I just get suspicious of people constantly pushing for other people to donate to them. (and this is definitely not just related to AC, this is pretty much anyone who is constantly putting 'donate to me!', especially with a sob story attached, all over and pushing it constantly)

(Anonymous) 2025-02-16 05:49 am (UTC)(link)full on will admit that i browse AC's blog occasionally. mostly because they're always saying how they're literally going to die if no one gives them money (going on several years of saying this now) and it's gotten to be kind of entertaining. last year they were saying if they didn't get 500 dollars for a medication they would die, i think it's funny how they'll just stop mentioning these very specific things that they need money for. and then of course they don't die, despite claiming they will within days if no donations.
AC lies a LOT or will not mention certain facts unless absolutely necessary. for instance, a few months back they were begging for money to pay their overdue internet bill. during this, they mentioned that their partner will lose their job if the internet is turned off. i found that mention hilarious if only because i feel like AC will act like there is absolutely no money coming in so they NEED your donations. i also thought this internet bill reveal was interesting, given that they appear to be on a package including TV (not necessarily a problem). however they state that they already returned the equipment and are still being charged... like ok... are you... doing anything about that? it's a good 160 bucks a month... https://www.tumblr.com/disposable-cellophane-dolls/772715603755712512
someone else mentioned the whole asking for money so they could buy a medibang/photoshop license, and that's another thing that bugs me. AC constantly brags about being older than everyone else and knowing all the old school shit that these young losers don't know. PIRATE. IT. holy shit, even with a job i typically won't buy some of the big name art programs because they're so overpriced. it's piss easy to find a cracked download.
another anon from a different ARR thread a while back pointed out how they have tons of money put into FFXIV due to boosted characters, and that's not cheap alongside paying that monthly subscription (whenever they have it active anyway). having a hell of a time trying to find this one, if i do i'll reply with a link OTL
AND LISTEN OKAY i wouldn't be this critical of anyone other than AC. please know it's so many things about AC that leads me to have these opinions about their actions regarding money. if they weren't such a nasty, lying piece of work i probably would feel a lot more empathy and be giving a lot more charitability to their posts.
