I wouldn't doubt they could have been a victim of homelessness at some point but they've been caught before claiming to be homeless to rudely guilt trip people when they had gone back to living with family for months - however there's no way of knowing their situation now since I cut ties with them and it would be inappropriate for me to speculate.

They do have clear mental health issues, unfortunately they have showed a vehement unwillingness to acknowledge and work on their selfishness, rudeness and extreme victim complex that aren't caused by these circunstances but rather only exacerbate them and cause them more harm. They also have a really aggressive superiority complex, the weird misogyny stuff mentioned above being a big example. Very much a mentality of nobody has ever in this world suffered as much as I have and everyone else is privileged so they're the enemy, even if someone is quite literally agreeing with them.

I only hope someone in their real life is able to help them navigate a path to seeking help because they never have (and I doubt they ever will) responded well to people wanting to help them because it doesn't involve people getting on their knees and bowing their head to them - which is ironic given what they constantly complain about.

Sorry I just realized I wrote a lot. But wanted to clarify I was not a close friend when I was in contact with them so I didn't know all the details of course but I WAS blindsided when I found out about the things they'd been lying to me about. It's sad because it started with just being mildly disingenuous about things that were true but they just can't stop themselves from doubling down and just start straight up lying.
