There was one part where it stated that the skin rules/guide was nearly a decade old and damn 💀 to think of it, it’s kinda wack they kept those rules for as long as I’ve been playing it without any/much update, and skin makers have really advanced past it (hell, nearly no one makes full skins anymore and the image guide could use a modern update from an active player or something).

Really hope that staff takes the thread into consideration and at least be clear what can and cannot be approved.

yeah, and it was definitely for the sake of baiting clicks despite their claims to the contrary

they knew what they were doing: briefly mentioning the rule-breaking skins that were grandfathered in, how some skin makers get a pass for breaking rules that only exist for others without getting into the suspicions of favoritism that circle around, showing how apparel and genes go harder in the "implied suffering is a no no" rule when skins are holder to higher standards, etc.

no because their use of strike in this context doesn't hurt workers who are striking. go tell the people at the john deere or kellogg's factory that their cause is going to be hindered by someone on an online pet game using the word strike to describe something they're doing and see what if they're concerned lol.

I mean, technically the body of the actual thread (aside from the title & header meme) doesn't mention striking/unionizing at all, and the portion of the thread that mentions some artists stopping skin submissions for the month frames it more as a boycott & a way to reduce strain on the skin moderators temporarily. I agree with someone else upthread that the title & header are just meant to draw attention - I guess we can argue about whether it's ethical to meme on unionizing in general then? But I feel like that ship has sailed a bit with how many 'eat the rich,' 'when the communist revolution happens,' etc jokes have been prevalent on the internet in the past few years.

What I find way more aggravating is the handful of people in AAA (and elsewhere I imagine, because the FR userbase is like this) saying "literally 1984" and fearmongering about getting suspended/locked/etc. Especially the comment about staff "gunning after the escapees." Weird staff comparisons are nothing new to FR ofc, but some people have shockingly bad taste imo.

They've got the right spirit. I think most people agree that the skin maker rules suck, and I'm glad someone's got the balls to say it publicly. Though it is slightly cringe that they're referring to it as a "strike" and that they're "unionising".

If anything it's the complete opposite of a strike since it's the users that fund the staff's wages. Are skin checkers paid or volunteers? I don't quite remember.

Honest truth, there are better examples of skin rejections to use than these that I wish they used. Some of these are perfectly reasonable rejections taken independently.

The sexuality ones? The first one ruined all deniability with that name, the second one looks a bit too much like someone has a thing for schoolgirl uniforms. If I wore a skirt that short, you'd see panties.

The gore and suffering examples... Some are kind of stupid rejections, but the lava lamp tube argument seems flimsy to me. And the pearl catcher decorated with slices obviously taken out of her own body... That feels excessively gruesome even without blood. If it'd been my decision, no correction would make that acceptable.

The incense ones, I really thought they were cigarettes when I was pinged for them at first.

Not kissing the staff's ass like I'm sure I'll get accused of, just saying why these ones?

Yeah I think the sexy ones are inappropriate for the site, and it's not really the kind of audience that the staff want to cultivate. Are people trying to think that these kinds of skins should be made acceptable or what?

A small QoL that would speed up the queue process a tiny bit - let already printed stuff be reprinted right away without queueing. Small steps, no point in those two mods looking at/manually giving a go and spending time on those.

Frankly it boils down to play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Why?

I play the game since the beta, and skin rules where the first 1-2 years relaxed as fuck. Just use your brain and your skin would go through. But then the edgelords attacked.

I don't blame the staff at all for tightening the rules. The amount of gore that got through was astounding and reached really an uncomfortable level. Swords/Arrows/Spears sticking in the dragons, bleeding from the wounds, skin ripped up to expose muscles and bone etc.

I vividly remember those coatl accents that showed the inner organs like the bowels of coatls, but colored in bright neon blue, pink and green. And yes candy gore is still gore. People went also wild with the sliced up aesthetic with bleeding and such.

I mean yes of course clarify the rules, but I see mostly the frustration comes from people that want to make too edgy skins. And after all the rules got stricter because people just went wild with the gore and inappropriate stuff.

i’m late to the party but... this is just a boycott, lol. which is fair enough, i guess, but you literally can’t go on strike if you don’t work for the company you’re protesting.
