Since this tends to be a touchy subject lately, let's keep it corralled a bit!

Do you all see Dominance as we know it ever truly changing?

All this talk about who wants what out of Dom, and knowing that the staff have it on their list of things to rework, do you think the Dom of today will ever change into something truly different? Worse? Better?

Looking at suggestions forum, there have been ideas that, while perhaps doesn't fix all dom, but at least fixes parts of it, so I think it could be improved. Will staff, notorious for not playing the game themselves, pick the good suggestions is entirely another question that doesn't fill me with hope.

I am a huge, huge proponent of 'individual' dom suggestions - exalt shops, player in-flight rankings, etc - because I believe that then I won't have to choose between wanting to be in a flight I love and getting any dom rewards (my flight is not that good at dom while I personally usually get into top 20 raffle senders in most OOF raffles I take part in).

staff has not actually said they will change the dom system itself, just the rankings page. they might change the algorithm but that is not confirmed.

The next battle is Plague vs Nature, happening Mar 6-12. However, Shadow is also going to be solo pushing for their festival tomorrow - depending on how much space you have for fodder and how much time you spend training, it might behoove you to send your existing fodder to Shadow for unextreme-but-still-higher-than-exalt payouts and raffle tickets, then fill your space back up for PvN afterwards.

Also, there's usually a Dom Watch thread in Flight Rising Discussion to help you keep up to date on this stuff - here's the current thread, and it has a form where you can sign up for pings each week when they post a new one:

Nature and Plague will be battling March 6-12, although it's not shaping up to be a super exciting battle. More of a save-your-fodder-in-your-den week than a get-the-popcorn-ready week.

Wind and Lightning will be battling in May, haven't heard a ton about it but it will probably be a fun one. Keeping my fingers crossed lol.

I suppose Nature? I feel like they could use a win for morale. But if it turns out they're actually quite a bit smaller than Plague and they start to ratio them into oblivion I will definitely switch sides - everyone feels better when a battle has flips.

ngl, but I read those and started thinking of what kind of battle this will be as once fodder reaches about 13-14-15 kt, OOF training stops - or everyone will start selling at the prices they want on AH, bypassing the "no mercs" rule (which is already very hard to enforce, like, during last few battles I personally 'employed' trainers to train specifically for me bypassing the official merc threads and how are you going to enforce that, kick out your own trainers who do that?). Literal months of prep... and then they don't go all out? Call me old-fashioned but that's dumb.

Tbh, some of the last few battles had floor stabilise at 13-15kt, and people still sent to raffles/PBs for 1-2kr profit, so that rule is just whatever to me. Fodder will probably just stay lower to accomodate.

Same with mercs, I don't care if bank is paying, or someone else who is rich. We'll see how it goes and how many private orders there are.

If they want to have a battle that is more focused on in-flight exlating with mostly raffle as main interest for oof instead of relying on people going in for pure profit, kinda meh for that part of oof playerbase, but it's not like someone will flip battling flights, anyway. -shrug-

I honestly consider it a mutual push where both sides are doing a raffle. Not really a battle. But if they prefer not going all out to save money, fair enough.

It just gives vibes to me that they both don't have very large banks. Maybe they'll surprise me by going all out in every way not covered by these rules, but it just doesn't strike me as the kind of battle a flight would be inclined to unless their vaults were a little slim. So I'm managing my expectations accordingly.

Not sure if you mean by the flights themselves or OOF fodder hoarders, but I think it was known pretty widely in advance that this wasn't going to be a wallet-bleeding deathmatch - I'm in Nature but not really involved with any of our dom programs, so I'm pretty sure I gleaned the relative casual-ness that this battle is going to be from discussion here. So hopefully no one hoarded at particular cost to themselves in anticipation of crazy payouts that won't be materializing.

Absent that...meh, as I said, not heavily involved, I like getting hyped about battles but don't participate beyond personal training/exalting, so it'll be kind of nice if the AH floor actually doesn't get too high (which I'm guessing it won't, payout hikes are just a feedback loop that way, mercs notwithstanding - though I do agree with you that some unofficial mercing will surely go on) so I can still break even without leveling too ridiculously far.

Only reason I'm mildly disappointed that this won't be a knock-down-drag-out kind of battle is because we've been waiting so very long for this particular matchup and it would've been fitting if it were ludicrously epic and memorable.

The no mercs rule is related to using BANK MONEY to contract mercenaries— not "No one is allowed to do it". Any germs and saplings can, and some most likely will, use their own funds to get mercs from other flights.

i guess this is dom-related - the person flooding the ah with 50+ underpriced level 5s at a time is really starting to get on my nerves

related, if any saplings or germs are interested in grabbing a bunch of (comparatively) cheap level 5s, they're on the ah now :')

I thought this was semi-sarcasm until I went back and read the threads for Saturday night - ngl, knowing we at least flipped a couple times changes my entire outlook. (I can't really do more than bare-bones FR on the weekends, so unfortunately I tend to miss the most exciting time of pretty much any battle.) Losing doesn't faze me a bit, but a flipless battle makes it seem like we were as hopelessly outclassed as if we were fighting Earth again, which would be a little depressing. Not that I'd have begrudged Plague really anyhow, but as it is I can say with much more genuine enthusiasm - congrats indeed, enjoy those Aberration-related discounts!
