that achievement is fucking stupid and shows the devs dont even remotely play their own game, why would i exalt my progen for an achievement? just idiotic to add an achievement for an emergency site function
what is next, write a support ticket to get an achievement?
I am not going to undress my progen, save the bio, move it out of the hibden, exalt it and then restore it for an achievement which is actually a site function to help players to restore their lost dragons? Not to mention which giant spike of anxiety it would give me to exalt my beloved progen?!?!?
Am I really the only one thinking that is fucking stupid and should not be an achievement?
why is doing this such a hassle go when theres achievements for making 100mT and awakening 1000 fams. this is annoying yes but it's literally a 10 minute situation tops
The issue is that awakening familiars and earning treasure are achievements that you will eventually earn through average expected game play. They might take fucking forever, but they aren't asking you to do something that some players would never do. Exalting progens is something that a lot of people find objectionable or actively distressing.
Then don't do it? I'm sorry if I'm missing something, but I'm really confused why you're so upset about this - the various achievements aren't required.
I took a quick look through the achievements, and there are probably some I will never get. The progen one is most likely going to be one of them. Potentially exalting any dragon at all. Probably the one where I have to go from 0 to 50 energy by feeding them manually (I don't let my dragons get that low)
Any of the ones for like 250 dragons or more.
Or how about this one: When XYZ Meets 123 Hatch a dragon (either from a nest or unhatched egg item) exhibiting primary, secondary, and tertiary gene colors that are directly consecutive on the color wheel
A lot of the battle ones I will probably not do (especially against bosses because I hate fighting bosses, unless Yetis are included as 'bosses')
There are a few more that I am unlikely to never get because I am not interested in those activities etc...
So, having one about exalting a progen and then unexalting it is really not that big of a deal
As annoying as it is to trip over starvers when you're buying fodder, it's probably equally difficult to find them when you're actively looking for them. (Although, I haven't checked, but I'm going to guess there are at least a few enterprising folks direct-selling their unwanted starved dragons on the forums.)
It's not a problem for me personally - I've got a couple permas who always go hungry since I don't usually convert their obligate food type - but the site-encouraged habit would seem to be, as many players do, using the feed-all action whenever there's a tickdown, which you'd need to suspend for quite a while to get this achievement naturally.
Yeah, I haven't checked either, and I realized I could buy starving fodder. It was just another example of an achievement that will likely go un-claimed for a very long time/forever.
Yeah, I just am picky about the dragons I buy because I get attached super easy, and find exalting and reselling hard (I have a hibden tab full of 'gen1s I am not sure I want' that I really should sell, but when I look at them I go 'hmmm, this one isn't bad, maybe I can find something that will work' even if they are the ugliest XYZ to ever XYZ on site, agreed upon by every single person on site....)
Ah yes. The "it's not a big deal to me, so it must not be a big deal to anyone else" argument.
I get that some people just really don't care if they are missing achievements. And that's cool. Must be nice for you. I'll just be over here with the other obsessive completionists who are irritated by it.
bruh it took me like 3 minutes to take a screenshot of my dragon and her apparel, put her bio in a notepad just in case, take it all off, exalt her, bring her back, and dress her again
this is not a case of "it's not a big deal to me, so it must not be a big deal to anyone else". this is a case of "maybe its a big deal for you, but it also takes less than a couple of minutes to get the achievement and your 'obsessive completionist' self will be satisfied"
i would be more sympathetic to you if the achievement was like. "dont unexalt your progen for a year" but this is three fucking minutes
Sure, but that sounds like a "you" problem, not a "that achievement is fucking stupid and shows the devs dont even remotely play their own game" problem or a "Am I really the only one thinking that is fucking stupid and should not be an achievement?" problem?
If you are irritated by something that will take at most about 15 minutes (maybe a bit more with lousy internet), but not about
>>You Look Familiar (250) Pair familiars to 250 dragons in your clan at the same time<<
Which requires you to actually have 250 dragons at the same time
>>Special Eyes (Primal) Hatch a dragon with the Primal eye type<<
Which could take years to do, especially for people who don't breed a lot
>> Ancient Hatch Batch (2500) Hatch 2500 total Ancient dragons<<
Not everyone likes ancients, so this could also take quite a long time
>> Rainy Day Fund (10000000) Store 10000000 total treasure in your Vault<<
That is 10 million treasure. That you need to have on hand at once.
Or any of the Glimmer and Gloom ones, when some people cannot literally do G&G, the battle ones where people cannot coli,
Then I don't really know what to tell you.
Yes, I understand the bit about it being anxiety inducing, I have times like that, where no matter what I know, and what I tell my brain, it goes ANXIETY! But, if you are a completionist, and am fine with getting every single other achievement, even if it could take literal years, then why aren't you fine with taking 30 minutes to exalt and unexalt one of your progens? (this is also assuming that you will ever be able to actually 'complete' achievements, since they could very well keep adding new achievements to them)
That is why I don't understand the 'big deal', because there are other achievements that will absolutely be nearly impossible for some people, literally impossible for others, and I am sure at least one of those people is also an 'obsessive completionist' who would love to have those achievements completed but they cannot physically do them.
I can understand the issue with the non-progen dragon and setting yourself on cooldown for 3 months (it is three months?) not being optimal. But as far as I know, the progen doesn't have any sort of cooldown and you can save everything about the dragon elsewhere (though I do wish we had the suggestion about being able to create an outfit in the dressing room and then being able to apply whatever you have in your hoard from that outfit to the dragon by a single click of a button) and then just get it done.
For manual feeding, I bought hungry fodder, so that's something. As for 123, I might look into finding some fodd breeders in grayscale, blues or pastel, those are pretty common.
Yeah, for me, the whole 123 thing is just about having to actually look at what colors are consecutive and then trying to buy two unrelated that will give me exactly what I want (and remembering to breed them)
But, since these don't have to be done *now* I will look into completing the other easier achievements first (and wait for the hype to die down so that some of the prices for things go down). Thinking of trying to get back into coli'ing for those achievements....
I think you're overreacting a bit. Because there is worse. The one I pointed out? Has a 3 month cooldown.
Progen, yea it sucks, but it's an inconvenience at best. I'll do it next time I unden and redress mine... Which will probably be never.
However, putting your 3 month restore on cooldown unexalting a non progen could result in you losing a normal dragon in the case of a mistaken exalt later.
They're both stupid, but you're blowing up at the better of the two. Progens are stored intact and you get them back the same. I've had someone tell me their profile was intact.
If you don't like the achievements that's fine, but to say they shouldn't be achievements because you personally don't want to do them is ridiculous. If the site wants to give me some extra cash for something I already did then I'll take it. Not every achievement is there for you. There are some that I'll never complete, and that's fine because they're not there for me. They're there for other players with other playstyles. Just don't do the ones you don't like. It's that simple.
Yeah, that one's already unlocked for me, and I was relieved for all the reasons you give...but surprised. I've used that function exactly once - exalted a dragon I thought would no longer be useful for a breeding project, then came across a good mate for her - and that project's been over for years now.
Otherwise, the three-month cooldown just makes it too stressful to use in normal circumstances. It's much more valuable to have as an emergency insurance policy against accidental exalts of your permas and other valuable dragons. (Yes, obviously, keeping items on said dragons and etc makes it unlikely to happen anyway, but going by that logic, there's no need for a restore feature at all.)
I hadn't explored undone achievements thoroughly enough yet to realize 'unexalt progen' was a thing, which I've certainly never done and never want to. Definitely a thought that makes me cringe, even to do it extremely briefly for an achievement, though I might grit my teeth and go ahead if the day comes when I unlock literally every single other achievement. I'm too much of a completionist to relish being *that close* to 'done' forever.
And I agree, that's still the less potentially harmful of the two achievements, because it doesn't trigger a cooldown, even if it's the more inconvenient one for me personally.
(The point made elsewhere in this thread about how maybe it's there to educate newer players that the option even exists is a good one, but still...the achievement could have been 'visit the unexalt page and click this button to read about how it works' or something.)
(And tip for anyone else who does this: yes, probably your profile will be fine. But I'd save it in notepad or something just in case.)

(Anonymous) 2023-06-08 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)The progen one is free and unlimited. It's really not a huge deal relatively speaking.
I have more issue with the one for restoring a non progen, putting your restore on cooldown. I'm lucky as I have credit somehow.
