This site is legally and blatantly tailored to be available for people under 18 years of age. You can tell from the lore to the content rules that it’s supposed to be accessible. And you’re not allowed to ask for people’s exact ages on-site anyways. So if you don’t want to interact with minors…why are you on a teenager website? And how do you even tell?
I find people who do that in places where nsfw content is blatantly disallowed often have brainworms that say any adult interaction with a teenager is inherently abusive, so they are signalling their Good Person Points by flagging that they won't interact with teenagers.
Dude, just because someone is on a site that allows kids doesn't mean that have to interact with kids. There are honestly more adults on site than minors at this point. This is like the 18+ DNI users out there.
DNIs like this are a polite way to set boundaries on social interactions. There is nothing wrong with wanting to limit age ranges you communicate with.
+1 I also have a Minors DNI for the exact same reason, dragons are cool and kids are not. Whoever instantly thinks minors DNI = must be nsfw brainworms is just... being very weird. It's not deep, some people just don't want to interact with kids.
lol exactly this, this isn't fuckin webkinz. while the site is teen-appropriate, its audience is mostly adult. its lore, especially the early stuff, is appealing to adults. there are enough adults here that you can easily avoid interacting with children. which is what i like to do both irl and online
assuming the best in everyone on this all-ages-over-13 website and that players signed up no younger than 13 (not always true, but they'd be breaking rules), if the user has a starting date of february 25th, 2020 and older, or has an ID# lower than 517,252 (the last account to be made on that date), their account is at least 5 years old which would make them 18 and older.
i'm not gonna rag on people who sign up one day before or years before their 13th birthday, games are for fun and we are dumb adults who were dumb kids, but if this user gets approached by an account that fits the above description and the user of that account is under 18, they're not responsible for being lied to, only what they do once they find out the truth. i think publicly posted DNIs are dumb and people should give themselves space to learn it's okay to not talk to someone they don't want to for any reason and don't have to justify themselves even if someone gets mad over it, but the player lying about their age can't pitch a fit if they read it, don't heed it, and end up blocked.
"Do not message me if you are under thirty-five, plan on RPing in your message, use chatspeak, abbreviations and other acronyms, use the word "vibes," use "I mean" or "I feel" in your forum posts, or use modern slang (I do not understand modern slang at all)"
who the fuck are you even going to talk to homie. god forbid we talk about what we mean and feel LMAO
their profile now being: "Once my last nests are hatched, I'm bouncing. I'm not the kind of player that ever had a chance here."
is so funny to me. like yeah, you're probably going to not have a good time online if you refuse to interact with people who act in ways that are common and harmless online....
Maybe it's me being stupid cuz I'm ESL but what the hell do they mean with the "I mean" and "I feel" are those not like extremely normal in various day to day sentences, I am so confused
You're not alone, english is my first language and I have no idea either. The only time I've ever been told to not say "I feel" was for writing research paper in school? But I really doubt it's from something like that? No clue where it's coming from.
Wow. When this topic came up and all the kid haters started posting about not wanting to interact with kids as it inevitably does (which is fine, whatever) I was gonna make a joke about how I find a lot of 20 somethings annoying as fuck and how I should put something in my profile about it... then this person got posted....that's. I'm 35.
"I mean" and "I feel" are normal parts of conversation- we are taught to use these in grade school to help us communicate better with our peers. Unless I'm mis-remembering 6th grade english, "I feel" is proper when you're describing your opinion rather than a fact. I'll admit to having picked up "I mean..." as a sentence starter and use it waaay too often though.... But both are used a lot for like... mediation? Solving arguments? Rather than going "you did this" you're supposed to say "I feel this when..." or something of the like, so that the other person doesn't feel attacked. This is supposed to be an adult way of speaking to another person about the problems you might be having with them. There must be some context we're missing there regarding these.
insert something here about how I grew up online with the everyday conversation rp stuff, that's just how it was in the early 00s in online fandom spaces. The kids are doing it because we were doing it, of the ones that don't immediately go 'cringe' anyway. I can see why it might be ingrained in some people. So it's a little funny to me going onto the rp lite dragon game and not expect some level of rp interaction, just a little.
their old bio is so pretentious ... I would loathe even being in the same room with this person. I bet they're the type to go "erm, ackshually" when you drop any statement ever.
plus stating that you write smut on a CHILDREN'S WEBSITE. there's a time and place for that, and it ain't the dragon png site.
people in this thread talking abt not wanting to talk to "kids" on the teen website is so weird, like i assume these people never are in forum threads, servers, PMs etc? Like i understand having little patience for teenage antics, but is this really a solution to that instead of just idk ignoring behaviour youre not interested in engaging with and blocking?
As someone who doesn't want to interact *consistently* with kids/early teens I agree that the DNI thing is weird – I just, you know, don't go into large discord servers that allow/cater to kids (disallowing swearing and whatnot) and don't post on forums too frequently aside business? It wouldn't hurt you if some 14yo asked you for your fodder or whatever. I get not wanting to constantly be surrounded by tweens but completely barring even minor interactions is kinda unhealthy.
Exactly this. Also everyone in this thread saying they don't want to interact with kids ever sounds like an old man who wandered into a teenager's yard and started yelling at the teenager to get off their lawn. Like YOU went to THEIR space, you can minimize interactions, but it's going to happen!
