Raffle Donations

I know it's not really my business as a non-donater, but has anyone ever donated something to a dominance raffle, and then not had that item used? Light's most recent in-flight raffle had multiple 7+yo fest items, uma's, and other miscellaneous non-fodder tibits that I would've really liked to win. I understand that they'll likely be available for future raffles, but I really would've preferred to win a Nebula or Night Sky silk set or potentially even Starlit Pants during the Starry Night Festival, like it fit the theme just fine. Kind of bummed, because their past raffles haven't been so stingy, usually they only hold back fodder items. Is this usual for other dom teams?

Yeah, that's common? Sometimes the sets are incomplete, sometimes there's too many of a certain category (for example, too many apparel prizes), sometimes the items are shifted to other events that need prizes (from raffle to, idk, art contest), or the raffle runner feels like there's already enough prizes - or sometimes the donated items just don't fit anywhere and then they get sold to buy missing things for another prize set.

yea, donations to the main flight bank usually aren't necessarily used in the push thats right after, ime. if it fits the theme and theres a good balance of prize pack types ill sometimes see my donated items there, yea, but its not a promise. if i want my donation to be used immediately in that push, ill usually donate the items to someone running a smaller event like RNG packs or an RP event with prizes.

imo, its better to have a big pool of banked flight donations, just in case future months get slimmer donation amounts.

This is really confusing, did you actually look at the donation sheet? You can see what was used, it was almost everything. They can only offer what people donate. Just parsing through the packs, most have a value of 500g+

reading this as a member of (and donater to) a flight whose most recent IFR had 10 prize packs in total, the highlights of which were an unhatched ice egg and the hati/skoll gem mp fams (in separate packs of course, because gods forbid any prize pack be worth more than 300g)... very tempted to switch to light if that's the bone its members choose to pick about its IFR prizes 🥲

man im not even in light but this is the worlds weakest link/bait. some people here are wayyyy too eager to point fingers at mistakes and claim that theyre scams. do you truly think that someone, who is genuinely trying to steal a donation, would publicly state that theyre using two things when anyone can verify that theyre just using one? no. theyd just fucking pocket it

AYRT whoa, "quietly stealing donations" is not at all what i was referring to or how i interpreted the original post o.o like most of the other replies have said, i feel like it's normal (and good planning) for a dom team to set aside some donations for future pushes or other events. having everything publicly tracked is a good thing, too.

what i meant by "the bone its members choose to pick about its IFR prizes" was the OP calling light's current IFR "stingy" because not every single donation made it into the prize pool. i've seen the prize pool (via secondhand screenshots) and holy jeez. y'all in light have it good.

for a point of comparison, my flight had a donation competition during NotN that raised 400kg (in currency and items) for the dom bank. shortly afterwards, we had the IFR i mentioned in my post above, in which the total value of the prize pool was somewhere around 2.5kg. just gotta trust that the donations are gonna be given back to the community in other ways, ya know? 🙏

I'm not OP, but I'm in the same flight. It's Arcane lol

I chose not to participate in that push at all bc the prizes were things like familiars/apparel from Arlo (3 separate prize packs, of course) and flaunt/flair aether genes. This is pretty typical for our flight, sadly. I've been sitting a lot of them out because it feels silly to spend so much time training and exalting dragons for a raffle where the prizes are things I could buy on my own after 1-2 days of fairgrounds

I started in Arcane and didn't engage much with the community at first to I thought that was normal. Then I moved flights and holy shit, Arcane's IFRs suck, lol. I do wonder why it is so bad, I know they run profit push IFRs quite often, but I don't believe that the dom bank can't afford better prizes.

Wtf the time for giving them the benefit of the doubt is long since past. That's bullshit and people in my flights I've been in wouldn't put up with it. Stop giving them your trust, this is egregious. I am angry on your behalf. 2500g is frankly pathetic for an IFR already and if you know they're sitting on 400kg at least... That's fucked.

but this was just a regular old monthly profit push - surely the arcdom bank is saving all that money for conquest pushes, right?

the last time arcane conquest pushed (not counting the festival push) was almost an entire year ago. in march of 2024.

honestly it just seems to me that arcane dom is spreading itself needlessly thin with doing monthly profit pushes where every single one has a raffle to begin with?

other anons have mentioned light's generous IF raffles as a contrast, but those are for actual conquests, not profit pushes—at least from what I've seen? I'm still pretty new to the flight, though.
for another point of comparison: back when I was in nature, we had a program that would do a lot of internal competition profit pushes where there would often be a few small prizes provided by each "team captain" figure, but it was handled as a supplemental thing to the main dominance team.

it seems to me that arcane could ease up a touch on the official profit pushes so people could start properly banking dragons, and do some actual conquests instead. put the exalting energy of the flight—not to mention the war chest—towards something that would feel truly meaningful to people.

Night Sky silks not star silks. And it seems like they've tried to mark down both the individual Night Sky silks and the Night Sky Bundle as prizes being used, when really it's only the bundle. Weird.

Holy SHIT y'all CANNOT be serious with this omg the Light Flight dom team is the most transparent bunch I've ever encountered??? you can literally track every single donation in the raffle donation spreadsheet AND view what items are leftover from raffles to be used in future activities in the vault spreadsheet (AND see which items are USED from that vault item hoard for price packs??? what more do you want holy shit)
literally every single item and every piece of currency is accounted for in the most insane bookkeeping I've ever seen for a petsite

I'm not in Light but our bank also tracks things like this and it's *because* of that tracking that i've noticed that i personally have misplaced an item or two in the past. like someone sent me genes to hold and i accidentally sent them to someone else as a gift or something.

This is just to say that transparency is important and mistakes happen even when that transparency is there. I replaced the couple items i misplaced because it was the right thing to do and because when i went to account for things i was easily able to look at a spreadsheet that ANYONE in the flight can look at and go "oh, um, that's not in my vault. or my hoard? weird..."

idk man i just don't understand lack of transparency. I know it might not be an actual correlation but i just feel like anyone who doesn't share where things are is possibly less honest about it than they should be. I like that our Flight is transparent because it tells me the team WANTS that transparency and i know we've got a good crew, you know?

If you're donating items for dom related raffles, it's a long term investment for the flight item bank as a whole. When your donations get used isn't up to you.

UMAs are typically some of the highest priced items in the game, so your in flight raffle wasn't stingy. At all.
