I'm not OP, but I'm in the same flight. It's Arcane lol

I chose not to participate in that push at all bc the prizes were things like familiars/apparel from Arlo (3 separate prize packs, of course) and flaunt/flair aether genes. This is pretty typical for our flight, sadly. I've been sitting a lot of them out because it feels silly to spend so much time training and exalting dragons for a raffle where the prizes are things I could buy on my own after 1-2 days of fairgrounds

NAYRT i noticed a while back that arcane had a surprising number of IFRs and now i'm not as surprised lol.

I started in Arcane and didn't engage much with the community at first to I thought that was normal. Then I moved flights and holy shit, Arcane's IFRs suck, lol. I do wonder why it is so bad, I know they run profit push IFRs quite often, but I don't believe that the dom bank can't afford better prizes.

NAYRT but also in Arcane. The last we've heard from our dom leads (in December) is that the dom bank is still trying to recover from Arcane vs Light, but they explicitly say they don't want to get into too much detail about what our current funds are.

I'm in Light and... we have a big spreadsheet where all the vault funds are accounted for, and we can see exactly how much was spent per push and how we've regained funds since - dunno if we're the exception to the norm in terms of transparency in a positive way but... sounds kinda shit to not know how full/empty your dom vault is :/ my condolences nonny

I left arcane before AvL, and it was the same before that. Sounds like an excuse. I know I donated some nicer items to the arcane dom bank back in the day, only to never see them used anywhere, so who knows what is going on there. Idk, I just get bad vibes from arcane dom, they seem too busy/tired to be doing this, but back when I was there they didn't want to let anyone else step up and help run things. Granted, it's been a few years since I left so idk how it is these days.

Now, my current flight also doesn't have a spreadsheet or anything to explicitly state what the dom bank owns. But it also feels infinitely less shady, things get donated all the time, but you actually see them used in events. Also, high focus on IFRs too, often the IFR prizes are better than OOFR (there are always UMAs, eggs, gem apparel bundles, genes, art, etc), and there is a ton of them, not arcane's usual 10 sub-par prizes.

No. It's very much not normal. I can go pull up all dom bank records cash and items right now on my flight.

This is only a semi-related rant, sorry your post became my soapbox nonny lol, and I'm absolutely yapping from a biased viewpoint of someone burned by leader incompetency, but Arcanedom has been stuck in a tailspin loop for the past few years. I'm someone who regularly places top 10 in my flight's conquest/profit pushes (a "big exalter" tm) and I used to be part of Arcane and pull the same numbers there, usually top 3-5 because it was on the tail end of the original big exalter exodus.

Arcanedom has been losing it's big exalters over the past few years because most big exalters exalt for one of two reasons, 1. Tickets and supporting their flight, or 2. $$$$ and yummy dom discounts (obviously). When people leave because of Arcanedom's subpar prizes and payouts, it creates a self-perpetuating cycle of: Your main exalting force dipping -> You lose more conquest pushes -> More big exalters get pissed and leave -> You lose even more pushes, and so on and so forth.

That in turn gives Arcane it's reputation for not being good at dom (true) and it turns off big exalters from other flights thinking of moving to Arcane. Word of mouth REALLY matters when it comes to dom, and I get wanting to save funds for a future push.... but they've got to spend it eventually. The reason you don't see it come up on the salt mines is because Arcanedom is VERY proactive about getting any form of even slight criticism of them taken down.

Arcanedom suffers from the double-whammy of being a popular flight that outwardly puts relatively less effort into dom and exalter retention, and having their reputation precede them. So, in turn, you end up with a flight culture that is barely dom-oriented but the informal flight leads are still in denial that it is.

Also, probably not my place, but, at least when I was still in there, the Arcane discord kind of suffered from crazy admin power abuse in really insidious and subtle ways that I wasn't happy with which ultimately led me to dip (things like Iralla pulling the "rules for thee but not for me" bullshit).

Complacency and pride are silent killers. How many times does Arcanedom get to disappoint their community until people have had enough? I think that time has long passed.

I’ve been in arcane forever but haven’t really had eyes on the discord until within the past 2ish years, so the power abuse stuff must have escaped me. What was your experience with that?

Aside from that, I agree with your observations. I’ve long said to other people that Arcane is in a self-perpetuating cycle of shooting itself in the foot - as far as I can tell, they don’t care that we have a huge reputation of being the place that doesn’t give a shit about dom. It shows in the subpar raffles and the lack of movement when it comes to planning things and drumming up excitement for said things; if I may, I’d even say that the dom efforts, at least in the discord, don’t seem very centered on attracting anyone. It’s very much giving a little group of buddies doing whatever (which, I guess you could argue isn’t a sin, considering it’s just a game) but it doesn’t help anything; it certainly doesn’t help anyone that might be interested in changing things or being critical of the way it’s all run now, since the vibe of the discord is just so… positive, in the way that makes me feel that criticism wouldn’t be well received at all.

I have no idea what goes on within our dom team, and that feels concerning, especially when dominance is meant to be a group effort.

Arcanite here--I think you hit the nail on the head with this one. I'm in the flight purely for the aesthetics, but I did dip my toes into Dom once or twice to see what it was all about. Needless to say, that didn't last long lol; even if we're doing a push, I usually just support the other flight(s) that are pushing in the same week to make a bit of dragon money.

I know FR users complain a lot about the discords in general not being very welcoming. But tbh, I'm in a bunch of big servers for different things, as well as the Arcane server, and I've never had a problem with feeling unwelcome except in Arcane. There's a few channels specifically for dom, where people can chat while participating in pushes or merc orders. It's only ever the same handful of people in there and whenever I or others not part of that "in-group" try to talk or have a convo in there while participating, I've noticed they all make a big effort to skip over us. They'll respond to pressing questions, but nothing else, and I'm not someone who's usually deterred from social interactions. It feels impossible to talk to other people in there who aren't in their group as well, because I've noticed that those folks just give up after a short while and I don't blame them. I no longer interact with arcanedom, and the lack of nice raffle prizes and fund transparency isn't the only part of it. Not only do they demand that we refund all money borrowed during profit pushes, no exceptions, only to leave us out to dry with where that money goes...they also don't really put much effort into a welcoming Dom community and I think that those factors combined are what drive a lot of people away. I know that's what it was for me

it doesn't seem at all harsh or unusual for the dom bank to require all borrowed money to be repaid? the point of that kind of loan is to help kick-start someone's exalting, no more or less. right?

Sone flights give loans? Odd. Last I knew, my flight gives get now pay later or discount fodder to help people get going but not outright loans.

My flight certainly gives 'loans' - for a lack of a better word - for known 'high exalters' during oof dragon boarding as not everyone has enough treasure on hand to fully fill thousands of spaces with leveled fodder. But during battle that 'loan' is usually just used by the same exalters to buy even more fodder, so it's just like getting battle funds before battle.

Sorry for the confusion there. I'll do my best to clarify! /gen I'm not saying it's weird to ask for the money back. I'm saying it's weird that they're so adamant about while not being transparent about what they do with the money overall. The specific combination of those 2 actions is what rubs me the wrong way. It feels very, "I want to see all your cards but you can't see any of mine."

And because I'm not a fan of that lack of transparency, I just choose not to participate. No skin off my back haha /lh

no but actually CS stands for Celestial Senate, a thing that happened literally a decade ago where Arcanedom had spies in other flights (I think specifically Light, to get info on their bank during a battle) and it came out and was a whole thing. The funniest part is I've still seen Arcanedom people use it as an excuse to why their dom is a mess to this day.

Not quite. It was not spies, because Arcane had not recruited any Out-of-Flight players. Instead, at least one ArcaneDom organizer had multiple accounts spread across every flight to snoop on their internal Dom activities.
