Wanna know what's so funny? they tried to point the finger at everyone over who "leaked" to Rhea about their "spy" ring to Rheas drama blog but the person who came forward and admitted it was someone who was close to them "helping" mitigate (Judoon, who is mentioned several times as someone they were waiting for), Steex made a sockpuppet account and gained entry into Light slack to keep eyes on a former Arcane person and Slack was approached and the person's sock account was removed for stalking (=
Truly what it was was a mix of people who knew people in other flights or "knew people"/multi'd in other flights and were poorly info gathering. Steex was caught and yeeted, had to remake. Re-named themselves again it seems.
Oh yeah I was a part of this before I left arcane, speaking from experience for the record. -SF
This is a real "Everyone Sucks Here" moment between Steex, Arcanedom, and Rhea. How did Steex not get an IP ban from FR for stalking, given that the Slack stalking was directly tied to FR?
nayrt but you're so right how is this person not ip-banned for genuinely stalking someone. even worse too their victim still plays, how unnerving must that be for them. sometimes I think FR staff takes "it happened off of FR so its not in our jurisdiction" too far
Yeahhh I mean if the victim didn't approach FR with the report then maybe staff couldn't do anything with the offsite stuff. I don't imagine that it was easy being like hey so all this offsite drama about the website yeah I'm being stalked about it. Especially back then it was a bit contentious with staff people were worried that if they were implied a part of this whole thing that staff would ban then for suspected multi-ing. I do think FR staff hold their hands up a lot going "not my circus we can't prove it" mostly so they don't have to litigate rumors? Because I imagine that'd be a nightmare.
So from what I understood since Steex was banned from multi-accounting their FR accounts were gotten- but the Slack account wasn't found till Light went to Slack directly like hey so there's someone who's stalking one of our team (slacks are "teams") can you help us here's what we know. Slack immediately took action, which go Slack tbh, 10 years ago on the internet stalking felt really tongue in cheek "oh I have a ~facebook stalker~"/"I ~stalk~ this person" used to be sort of a joke.
Rhea was living for the drama she made replied to and reblogged so much garbage back then I'm so glad that her blog isn't ruining people's day anymore tbh
Ok with the caveat that this is obviously scummy to do, this is so funny. Imagine taking flight rising dom so seriously you have a spy ring and you melt down trying to find a way to explain it. It's a dragon png site???
Back when FR started, dom pushes were actually secret. Because of how dom worked back then, flights were hush hush about it to try to stem any competition.
Part of this was because Ice had most of the whales- and if they wanted to, they could literally buy dom, which they did often.
By keeping pushes quiet, folks wouldn't start buying up fodder. Gave them an head start.
Dom's changed since then, so pushes aren't as cut throat.
Do you think the openness of dom pushing now is because of this celestial senate stuff? Or did the population grow enough to make it not matter, or something?
imo its a combo of things. population and hibden increases made the "inerta"/cost of a flight-wide push much more significant. things like dom watch and big battles also made it easier for people to understand the appeal of dom.
the barrier for entry is simultaneously easier for new people to join in and harder to actually organize given the balooning scale and price of it all. its a necessity to be transparent these days, if you want to actually place (without having to shell out obscene amounts on private mercs.)
the science alliance light and lightning did changed things too, once they discovered that each level "weighs" the same for dominance, ie 5 level 5 dragons equal 1 level 25 dragon
so people stopped leveling very high level dragons and instead started fine-tuning time and money efficiency to pump out as many 4-5-ish level dragons as possible during conquest
I remember my flight used to have a strategy of buying slightly above fodder floor so that other flights wouldn't notice we were pushing until the floor fell out from under them. What wild times. That would for sure Not Work now, nor be worthwhile on account of Hibden
The funniest part is when they accuse the FR community of making too much drama in a pixel dragon game when they're the ones multi-accounting, spying, cheating, playing the victim, and stalking.
