I like the genes, and the babies are funny. I already knew I was eh on the actual designs from the previews though, but they’ve grown on me a bit. I don’t hate them, but they’re not my favorite ancient design.

Yeah I don't HATE them but I have absolutely no urgent desire to have any in my lair.

Idk, I guess it feels like they peaked with Aberrations. (my fav breed)

I thought I'd like them more than I do. Finding them incredibly difficult to gene up if they're not XXY - there's just so many overlapping bits and bobs they get lost in the noise of a lot of the genes.

Not sure I'm in that much of a rush for them.

The lineart and details seem like it was bugged in the male art as well. I asked for sandsurge not blursurge. Seems like they also royally messed up with runes and some other genes again. It hits different when you see these kinds of errors going on with gem breeds.

SA because I'm high and I need to talk about it-

I actually like Sailfish/Marlin because it does some neat things, but ONCE AGAIN, they pulled the cowardly shit of not letting Sunset be ridiculous with oranges and purples and shit, no. It's different shades of orange.

I love what Sunset does with buttpet and jaguar/rosette but like.... why did they do that if they're just gonna be lazy with the other genes. I really want more genes that pull off that ACTUAL sunset range of colors and accents and Sailfish/Marlin had the potential to REALLY bring in the purples, but they copped out. Again.

UGH so disappointing.

Me too. And they have a huge variety of genes compared to my other fave ancient (Gaolers.)

The resolution is so poor with whatever they did to the lineart that I can't even stand to look at the breed since it looks out of focus compared to any other breed. It's a shame because the design is awesome and the new genes are really unique and fun. I can't figure out what went wrong because everything looked fine in the WIP livestreams, but I guess when they resized that file got overly compressed. Pretty sure the same error showed up in one of the achievements announcment banners (it got really blurry) and that was never corrected either.

Yeah this. I love the design and the poses, but the blurry lineart is bugging the shit out of me.

I like them. They're fun. And the augment gene is neat.

But too many people got their expectations too high, in spite of Undel having streamed drawing them. You weren't ever getting full robot dragons. Just genes you can use for robot dragons.

the thin lineart is shit because the site hasn't been optimized post windows 8

its zoomed out on chrome, zoomed in on firefox, blurry on edge. the dragon images are too small, so the thick lines on the older breeds still work. these new thin lines are ASS

I find it funny that the announcement thread has already been locked because people are complaining about the breed being a gem breed and others were complaining about the people complaining...

genuinely so funny cause admins told us about the breed and their approximate release time months in advance so people could expect it and save up gems. and yet there's people mad because they didnt rub 2 braincells together

genuinely if u cant save up 1kG/mT in 2 months of gameplay its either because youre not playing the game or its a skill issue. you can get that much from 2 weeks of fairgrounds alone

I don't love them, but I haven't loved any ancient yet and to be frank I'm relieved (long-boring-ancient-apparel-post-anon here). Doesn't really impact my enjoyment of the site not to have ancients; it will be a long time before I get bored of creating color and gene combinations on modern dragons. (When I come up with a scry I like enough to do a breeding project for it, it's almost always a Wildclaw, because apparently I live to torture myself with limited gene pools and long cooldowns.)

This does bring me to my other big issue with ancients though - proprietary genes. In this batch, I adore Rattlesnake and particularly Diamondback, and maybe they'll be ported to moderns someday, but with dozens of ancient genes out there, the odds aren't great. (I know modern genes are time-consuming to create because of the number of poses they need to be drawn across, but I'm not saying "Modern genes should come out faster and more often, damnit!!!!!!!"; I'm saying that instead of creating new modern genes out of whole cloth, I wish they'd take advantage of proprietary ancient genes instead.)

I really like them! I was a drive-by player but got sucked back in around Aether release, saw Undertides and Aberrations for the first time then. Prior to that, all the breeds were stale to me. It's a pleasant surprise finally being active when a new breed drops and I actually like it.

i love going through threads where everyone is like ‘flight rising devs are holding me at gunpoint and FORCING me to spend ten of my hard earned dollars on gems for a useless ANCIENT’ and blocking them all. complaining about site features that you literally don’t have to use is obnoxious entitled behavior. you can just get one of the many treasure breeds or wait for the fodder floor on the new release to drop… i’m sure it’s at least part of the same crowd that complain about dragons having no ‘worth’ anymore. too many people want instant gratification/profits in a browser game that has managed ten years based on the integrity of its staff and constant free releases.

Playing in Predicting Morphology, and Thylacine actually looks like it interacts pretty well with Sailfish! Thylacine almost never works for me, otherwise.
