i need details on what is happening in fire flight because my friend dropped this in the chat and then went MIA to do xmas family stuff lol.

someone has moved there to start a new dom team? except this person seems to have a lot of specific plans and experience being a dom lead so they might actually be successful?? unlike the past attempt. if this is real i would seriously consider moving to fire....

As I understand what's been said in Firecord, Ashfall has dissolved. Its assets have been transferred to the new dom team.

I've been wanting to join Fire forever because I love the aesthetics but I've gotten so comfortable with Earth's constant dom benefits. Hoping in time they finally manage to become the dom powerhouse they have the ability to be because I'd love to switch

Same, I really want to switch to Fire but the chaos happening with their dom team has me a lil wary. I wish their discord was public so I could see what their community is like… I’d have to drop a lot of stuff in my current flight that I would never get back in order to make the switch, so I def don’t want it to be a mistake.

I decided to just go for it and join fire for a bit. Figure I can switch back later if I don't like it.

I've only been in fire flight for a few weeks, but people seem to want to make it work and are hopeful fire will have a good year. It's good dreamclaws has joined since they seem pretty good at communicating and coming at it with a plan. Like the other anon said, dreamclaws has mentioned wanting to use the forums as the main place for dom communication which I'm also super grateful for.

Some people have expressed an interest in restarting/joining guilds, which I'm not super familiar with. I don't know if it makes sense for fire since it's a small flight, and I'm not sure how they work when coordinating battles/raffles. So waiting to see how those work out.

But everyone has been really nice so far and the vibe is positive so I'm just chilling while things get rolling. There is an upcoming profit push so I'm interested in seeing how that goes and what fire's internal numbers are looking like. :)

nayrt, but yeah, same on the Discord thing. I don't like that people as a whole are preferring Discord nowadays. Would rather keep things on the actual site itself, and I've had bad experiences with servers and harassment (in a non-fr server, don't worry) so I'd rather not join anymore at the moment anyways. I just mainly use it to talk to friends.

gosh, yeah, suddenly fire is mildly appealing - my flight's dom is like, 99% discord based, barely anything on forums. all of the pings are 'we'll be pushing on those dates and this is the theme': non-discord folds don't get asked about the theme nor the dates and just get the final decisions. much fun /s

and the worst thing? i work awkward hours, so i can't even be active during the main 'active hours', so discord is a complete non-option for me unless i want to back-read several hours of discussions each day...

NAYRT but this almost perfectly describes my experience in Arcane:

We did get a google form to fill out to vote on push dates, but theme discussions and event planning are discord-only. It definitely feels like non-discord-users are seen as less valuable, or like we have less to contribute. :/

Similar in Shadow too. We get pings to the forms to vote on push dates, and there's a little box to fill in with theme IDEAS at the end. As for actually choosing and deciding on the themes though? I have to assume that's all done on discord because I never see any follow up to that. The only reason I know what the festival theme is, is because someone asked on the forum thinking it might be too early to choose a theme, and they got a 4 word reply as it was already chosen.

We also have a push for Lunar NY that's in collab with Plague coming up! Wish I knew that was happening, but it's not on our push calendar. It's not on Dom Watch either for either flight. Was this a last minute thing? Is it supposed to be kept secret? WHO KNOWS!! We got a ping for event planning but that thread is empty so I assume everything is happening on discord. I'd be far more interested in actually helping out with pushes aside from just exalting on my own if the forums actually had some form of life.

Fellow arcanite and yup...that is 100% the first thing I thought when I read that post. I'm in the discord, so I do see some of the dom discussion, but to be quite honest? It's difficult to get involved in the convo if you're not already an "established name," I've noticed. I've given up trying to talk in the dom channels because people will just reply to the posts before and after me, but largely ignore me and other less chatty folks.

It's my experience (in a completely different flight) that event planning generally happens in DMs/PMs between a couple individuals that find each other and want to collaborate on an event together. Sometimes even without communication if it's something chill that 1 person can handle and they just decide to do it. There's little to no event planning happening in the flight dom discord channels at any given moment.

If you want to run and event and need people to help out with it you should defs just go ahead and make a forum thread for it! I see it happen pretty commonly when someone wants to run an event that needs multiple people helping.

I'm sorry you don't get asked to vote on push themes. Our orgs post google polls on FR to vote on themes for major pushes, and for random little profit pushes they just pull from all the suggestions they got in previous polls.

i'm in shadow and someone below already described the current situation - you'd think that since mercs usually require fast responses, so they'd be the discord-only branch of dom but plot twist! it's actually the regular dom that's on discord and mercs get each and every ping in forums. good if you're mostly interested in profit though.

to the other shadow person: yeah, i'm also confused over the lunar ny plague push as the one single vote for a push date in the recent times i remember was a question about a possible joint push with light and suddenly there's a confirmed push with plague.

as someone who doesn't mind communicating mainly on discord (apart from the issue of leaving people out) i still don't want everything on there because important things get lost in the flow of conversation and you have to skim through jokes and tangents to find information. i'm glad my flight has all the important stuff on the forums so it's easy to refer to and less likely to be missed even as a discord user.

I get that same vibe from my own flight ngl 💀 I'm so disinterested in dom in general as a result because I don't want to join yet another discord server for networking that can be easily done on site.

NAYRT please tell us which flight so we can avoid them!

I have been in Fire Flight for a bit now, and if you are interested in dom and want to learn about it, I think now is a great time to come see.

I am in the Discord, and there is actually not much dom planning happening there, just some casual chit chat. A lot of Fire people seem to prefer the forums, so there is a lot of in depth planning discussion happening there. So you really are not missing out if you're not on Discord, in fact, if you are on Discord but not the forums, you will be missing out on a lot.

If you want to learn about what dom orgs actually do, and get more into dom planning, I think there is the chance to learn a lot in Fire right now. As an example, dreamclaws has put up a thread for planning our next conquest push, but in addition to a planning timeline, she has put another post explaining why she picked the timeline dates (ex: when art is due), including a FAQ. Like a guide to how a conquest push works, and what dom orgs are thinking about when they plan it.

Other people have started a newbie welcome message program, a new dom team (not the main kind but like Lightning's VOLT teams), a revival of the subspecies hub, and new fundraisers. It feels like a garden where suddenly new shoots are popping up everywhere. We already have a push with Earth and Wind (!) planned for September (!!!), which was based on the results of a survey dreamclaws did, which asked, among other things, who we wanted to push with/battle the most.

So, yeah. Obviously, we will see if this structure is sustained, but the sheer amount of activity and discussion going on now (in the forums, that too), plus having a leader who is clearly telling people how to do dom org stuff and giving good advice, makes me have a good feeling.

SA I forgot to mention, another thing I find useful about all the communication being done on the forums, is you can check the dom hub for a list of tasks that need to be done that anyone can help with. So that makes it easy to just go ahead and start doing things.
