An important update:

Due to a specific person being a complete child, comments are going to be screened by default.

This is only temporary, and I apologize for the inconvenience- this is going to be a pain in the ass for me, too, but multiple people have come forward about fears of doxxing, and this is the only way to make sure any doxxing is contained.

(This basically will force the doxxer to make a DW account to post any doxxing attempts unscreened, and will let me more reliably report them to DW staff/authorities.)

Again, I apologize, and will be working to unscreen comments as fast as possible, but I'm only one person.

(Vasemod has had some personal issues come up, so I am the only mod atm. Please bear with me until this bit of annoyance has passed.)

Hey, it's perfectly fair to bring out new evidence of past crimes, especially when they act like the did nothing wrong. They did something wrong. Users have a right to know.

But I wouldn't be so smug in their place. They do it again, that whole incident is probably noted on their account internally. Staff probably won't be so merciful if they do it again.

I just avoid the whole lot of them personally.

I agree it's not a warbonnet, but the hoopoe's crest is sideways. If they did take inspiration from real bird crests, and not Quetzalcoatl alone, I think the red-fan parrot (from northern South America) and especially royal flycatchers (from Central and South America) are good candidates.

AYRT lol my point was not that learning Japanese by itself is bad, it’s that it’s often combined with an almost unhealthy obsession with their culture or people. The people I was talking about that I know personally we’re 20 something white guys who REALLY liked Asian women and watched a lot of hentai.

I think you missed the context of what I said. Learning Japanese isn’t weird if you like the language and the culture and want to communicate with the people. Learning Japanese IS weird if you’re doing it because you "identify" as a Japanese person when you’re not, or because you find Asian people sexy and you’re obsessed with them. There’s a line between normal and weird, and the people I knew we’re firmly in the weird territory.

For me, my mind immediately went to harpy eagles which are also South American, but I agree that the red-fan parrot is an even better example.

ok I think everyone who claims "that crest should just be redrawn" has no idea how much work went into this, what an organizing mess it would be, and how much it would even cost.
almost every gene has to be redrawn, and on top of that there's masses of usermade accents now, either submitted, or in the earth contest thread that will no longer work once redrawn. artists that spend the last weeks, months working on the genes will be paid to redraw genes they had already worked on.
removing the fae bulge years ago is an easy fix. redrawing something big like this is not.

There was no drama tbh? They just removed the bulge faes had one day and everything was cool, iirc. i also can't even tell you anymore when that was, i'm betting it was at least 6-7 years ago. so if there was drama it must have completely slipped my mind now.
