Elliot Page, formally known as Ellen Page*, had recently come out as transgender, and uses he/they pronouns. I'm glad for him, but I also feel a little shitty because my first thought was "ooh, how are they going to do the Umbrella Academy?" Because it would be weird right, to have the actor continue to play a cis woman character? Or am I overthinking? Maybe Vanya will come out as transgender, which could be cool if handled well. After all, Vanya was on brain drugs for most of her life; being off of them might help Vanya discover more about themself.

Anyway, anyone who's upset that they "lost a lesbian icon" or whatever can go step on Legos for all eternity. Best of wishes to Elliot, and to any of you all that is going through your own gender journey.


*Which I'm only mentioning so people know who I'm talking about? I don't mean to deadname him, but I had to Google it, and I want it to be clear for people coming in who hadn't heard yet

I think it's most likely he'll wrap up UB as Vanya the way she was previously written. I saw both the official Twitter accounts for Netflix and UB supporting him, so it's possible they will write in the nonbinary reveal but actors working as characters with different genders to theirs is as old as time so I don't think it would be strange if they didn't.

Whether or not he'll continue to pick up roles like Vanya in the future is to be seen but I support him however he wants to work!

Hmmmmm I'm going to say both songs sound extremely generic to my ear? The similarities are a fast pace and some japanese instruments thrown in it as well but besides that both songs feel like they have the same kind of vibe I have heard of a hundred songs so far.
Wagakki Band was founded in 2013 apparently, Atomic Bonsai is like two years older.

So uh... I've been gone for a couple of days, so I have no clue if what I'm about to talk about is at all related to the screened thread but how about that new Wonder Woman movie?

I'm... not thrilled. Ignoring, for a moment, the not super great treatment of the Middle East + Arabs (since I'm White and Not Qualified to talk about it), the thing that hurts the most is that they straight up turned Wonder Woman - Wonder Woman! - into a rapist. And I'm just... I love Wonder Woman, I had such high hopes, but this? This??

The worst part is... I don't even think the writers think of it as rape?

I'm just so angry that they did Diana so dirty like this. :(

Any ideas on stuff I can do to celebrate? Still in lockdown and all that jazz (sigh). I'm thinking maybe order Chinese food and then...........stare idly at the wall ig.

I also didn't get all the eggs I wanted to hatch for my bday but I have a solid dozen from notn so it's better than nothing.

It's crazy when Westernerns think you're not Chinese because you speak "good English". Like... not every ethnically Chinese person lives... in China... and I'm pretty sure there's English lessons/online courses there too, isn't that what most white expats do when they go there for a job?

Then again if they thought I was "China Chinese" they'd probably start asking if I eat dogs, so...

I'm a casual OW player who was trying DPS in QP.

Someone on the enemy team whom I had blocked apparently started flaming in match chat, cuz my teammates were telling him off. I unblocked and he was offended that I had swapped to Symmetra.

The flaming continued even after we won the match as I still saw my team laughing at him.

I've run into him 3 other times - 3 wins, 1 loss - and I play Sym each time. I assume he's still raging cause I always see different teammates responding to an unknown person in match chat with things like "are you 12?" "stfu" etc.

The best part?



I wish I could stop running into him, although it's basically a free win, he manages to tilt my team with his complaining. I live in Asia, but I play on the American servers as the server for my tiny country is apparently located there, so I run into the same few names /a lot/.

Do you guys feel like you constantly have to defend yourselves? Not even from insecurity, but sometimes people assume the worst of what you say.

Especially when people straight up assume I'm white or cishet. If I said "I think qipaos are pretty and I have no issue with white women wearing them" I'd probably get someone linking to /r/AsABlackMan or calling me white, or a race traitor etc... [Also this is just an example I have no interest in debating this]

I'm trying to do better on this as well but it's annoying when you go out of your way to clarify yourself so people won't attack you over some twisted interpretation of your words and basically gaslight you over it. And then they STILL do that.

It's annoying and people jump down your throat even after you explain yourself. And it's always the most condescending dicksticks too. "Lol you do know that [...]? xD xD" Yes I did know that sorry I didn't explicitly say it because it wasn't relevant to my point.

I swear some people jump at any opportunity to feel smart.

I have to go to suicide prevention training for work tomorrow. Not only do I have a ton of shit to do but I really hate how it’s an issue that disproportionately affects white men. I wish we could do something that is more beneficial for women and minorities. Why do so many white men commit suicide when the whole world is catered towards them? It makes 0 sense
