True enough! I just keep remembering how, on Orange is the New Black, they brought in Laverne Cox's twin brother to play her character pre-transition. I hope Elliot isn't uncomfortable playing Vanya as written, though I suppose I'm being a little white-knight-y/stupid to worry when it's his choice, and he gets to choose his level of comfort, you know?

It's not stupid to wonder and be concerned, that just means you're an empathetic person! From what I know of him (I don't keep up with celebrities really so I might be wrong or info might be old) he was on record as interested in roles of any sexuality but especially queer ones.

I didn't know that about OITNB, but that's really interesting. Like young actors playing a minor role for a childhood flashback. Do you think they did it tastefully?

Thanks.

TBH, I don't know - I don't actually watch OITNB,I was just remembering when that episode came out how big of a deal people were making of it, that they would get her twin brother to play her (in-universe trans woman) character pre-transition, instead of "making" her do it.

As someone who's watched OITNB, I always thought Laverne Cox's character is one of the most respectfully done characters in the series, even if I feel she was underused. There were just too many characters for everyone to have a big arc; but like many of my favs, she had her own special episode so that's good. (It's episode 3 from season 1 if you wanna check it out.)
