i worry about this too :( i think people were really harsh on the effects and couldn't look past "well /I/ don't like /these/ effects so what's the point!" rather than looking forward to what other effects might be released. fr players tend to do this in general though when things are released that they don't personally like/enjoy, which is disappointing

They did say ahead of time what the new stuff would be this year and it didn't include effects. Hopefully in the future? Maybe next year we'll get elemental effects, once they've had some time to develop the idea more. The ones they did for April Fools were well received for the most part.
try being a snapper/ridgeback/tundra fan. they rarely got fest skins even before ancients came around.
SA cuz I wanted to bitch some more. I also hate it when someone tries to sell a dragon on the basis that they're a 10-20 colours off-double, especially if they're not even matchy. That's an XYZ babe!!!
Ik it’s predominantly a (somewhat annoying) way of getting eyes on the sale / auction but it’s additionally funny to me because there are XYZ combos that are hundreds of times more desirable and sought after than some terrible doubles

But there are doubles like cinnamon/shamrock that sit on the AH for months at 150g
So I *guess* people are trying to advertise dragons as matchy when they do that but

Nah I totally agree, some doubles can be underwhelming and plenty of XYZ's are incredible. It's part of why I think it's silly to pass fodder XYZ's as near-double when the colours are like. Cyan/Hunter or Eldrich/Orchid and the like. I'm just poking fun as an XYZ collector myself to be clear :^)

I am hoping (but am probably wrong) that this year's fest theme won't be Cerdae. I prefer when each month gets a unique familiar, like with the flight spirits or the flight ambassadors. I like the sense of mystery regarding what the next feet's familiar will be

I agree anon. Cerdae are pretty and all but it'll get boring seeing them each month. And even with the sprites, acolytes, gryphons and most of the other single creature years they're creatures we don't really see elsewhere, so there's still a bit of surprise to the designs. We have plenty of cerdae already, 11 more but flight flavored isn't as exciting.
It would feel better to me if every fest had a different non-beastclan familar species to rep them. Give us an Arcane Psywurm, Earth Capricat or Shadow Flight (the otter guys) please. Hell it would've been even cooler if we got fest versions of the coli bosses, we should have enough of them for that by now yeah?

Where do I even begin. CJ had a massive crash out on the official Tumblr and somehow that drew the attention of an experienced project manager willing to lend a hand. Unfortunately the fucking idiot couldn't hold it together for longer than a week before throwing another fit in the discord server resulting in numerous bans AND the new management peacing out because WTF else is a sane person supposed to do? On top of that, Ember has officially left, leaving Santae without a programmer, but that's fine because apparently CJ is getting his money's worth out of them by issuing a $15k chargeback.
The order of events is a bit jumbled since I'm reading this second hand via santae-salt but holy fuck. I'll see about archiving relevant posts soon pls forgive me there's so much.
