I am hoping (but am probably wrong) that this year's fest theme won't be Cerdae. I prefer when each month gets a unique familiar, like with the flight spirits or the flight ambassadors. I like the sense of mystery regarding what the next feet's familiar will be

I agree anon. Cerdae are pretty and all but it'll get boring seeing them each month. And even with the sprites, acolytes, gryphons and most of the other single creature years they're creatures we don't really see elsewhere, so there's still a bit of surprise to the designs. We have plenty of cerdae already, 11 more but flight flavored isn't as exciting.

It would feel better to me if every fest had a different non-beastclan familar species to rep them. Give us an Arcane Psywurm, Earth Capricat or Shadow Flight (the otter guys) please. Hell it would've been even cooler if we got fest versions of the coli bosses, we should have enough of them for that by now yeah?

Oh I would really dig flight versions of the classic familiars

I found the snakes boring tbh but the gryphons grew on me because I liked seeing what bird/mammal hybrid they came up with. With the Cerdae maybe they could at least have ones inspired by other equids like donkeys and zebras? Or equine-esque animals like okapis?

i think they're probably planning to do exactly that. Light's cerdae is based on a deer (white-tailed deer i think?) so i'd imagine they're going to pick different thematic hooved animals/ungulates for all these flight cerdae.

I hope a flight gets a rhino to play on the rhino/unicorn association and historical renditions of huge shaggy unicorns

Especially if they get crazy with the ungulate theme and add dolphins/orca for wavecrest
