This is a very very petty thing, it rubs me the wrong way the way people use the general chats to show off how generous they are to their friends. We have an entire library meant for "glittering", like god damn get a room.
this has been rubbing me the wrong way too dude, I have the 'glitter_bombs' channel muted for a reason. I wish the mods would do something about this instead of encouraging it like skylardn9 is but it seems like she can never stop herself from bragging. >.>
I cannot believe they made skylarDN9 a mod, their vibes are so rancid. Totally agree with this, I find the glittering habit leans toxic more often than not and I wish it stayed contained where it was supposed to.
DA Sunbeam Ruins is the Light discord server, where "glitter" (gifts) is a common occurrence. I'm in the server and tbh not sure what the OP is talking about specifically this time but sometimes people share what was given in the non-glitter channels (like if they got gifted genes, they might show the dragon in the dragon share channel, since that is the only place dragon images are allowed, but would be silly if that specific example is what OP is talking about since well. that's what the rules of the server tells you to do)
y'all this is so funny because this reads as so petty and jealous (at least we're in the right thread for it LOL). also, rancid vibes my ass, if anything she just reads as a bit awkward with bad timing of using periods a lot
Seconding this idk what reality those other nonnies are in but I hope it has grass to touch. Getting twisted over a user gifting another user is crazy work. Maybe give glittering a try, nonnies! It may even melt that icy heart of yours.
One of the nonnies who needs to touch grass, it's so funny you assume I dont. I'm saying it's annoying when it becomes a missing contest outside of the appropriate channel on who can spend the most money.
DA I have personally never seen that happen outside of the glitter channel (I've even only barely seen it in the glitter channel itself since not every expensive item gift is a flex - I've seen sprites and whatnot be gifted without anyone being obnoxious about it), gimme deets nonny I want the salt!!
So let me get this straight... you're upset that people are spending money on others? Wouldn't it be worse if someone was flaunting finishing personal expensive projects? I'm failing to see why generosity of others is an issue. To be such a scrooge about glittering honestly sounds like you might need a new flight altogether if you hate light so much for it. Its literally what they do: Glitter.
I don't have an opinion on this one way or another but I'd just like to point out that the initial issue that started this whole conversation is people doing it/bringing it up in the wrong channel(s) specifically, which you and another anon (?) seem to have neglected.
For something that the OP themselves say is petty and that they just wanted to get it off their chest, it seems to have really struck a nerve here...
Yea. The users are too busy attacking the others for being "selfish" to consider the issue is a channel built for containment has rules making it not serve its purpose.
DA neutral on the glitter situation as a whole but I am in the Light server and don't even know what this user is talking about with the glitter breaking containment TAT idk if I'm just stupid or like,,, if the salt about glitter breaking containment was just,,, idk sharing a dragon that got genes gifted like that other anon mentioned as an example of following the rules of where images can go,
OP gave an example as to what containment break they're referring to in their post.
"people use the general chats to show off how generous they are to their friends."
By that, they'd be referring to people who brag about them gifting their friends. Not someone talking about themselves getting gifted, nor them sharing a dragon.
Am I going insane? How many of you in this conversation actually read the damn OP???
yeah but it hasn't happened?? Like sure if it's just in general without anything prompting the salt but if someone did that recently then either I am stupid or blind because I can't see what messages that'd be!!! hence examples of tf would qualify for this!
Not one of the previous anons in this, but confused at why you think anyone should find "look at this expensive thing that I worked hard to fund and do for myself" as problematic. I could see why someone might find public "look at this expensive thing this person gifted me" posts annoying when there is a channel for it.
Especially as, in many communities I've ever been in, those channels have a tendency to devolve into cliquey as fuck and be the same rich people publicly gifting their friend groups back and forth to show how generous they are.
Mind, not in light, so not accusing, but I understand the POV.
Okay wow this was not about that particular mod, nor was I complaining about someone sharing a dragon in dragon share. I kept it vague hoping others would get what I was referring to but salt users piss on the poor. Something tells me I'm not in SMR anymore... I forget you guys like the whole name drops and archives ect.
I was complaining about exactly what I said earlier, gift-givers using *General* to bring attention to their gift-giving. Gift-giving is great! But the constant "ohhhhh don't bring up you wanted something in SBR now im coming for u" flirting happens constantly. For most other topics in SBR, people are normally willing to redirect their conversation into the appropriate channel, but oftentimes gift-givers take over a channel for a bit if they feel like it.
SA And DGMW I don't care if gift-recievers post that they received something, it's the givers that refuse to at least try and reply from the glitter channel.
I mean that doesn’t feel prolonged to me. More like a natural progression of the conversation briefly. If you were scrolling through it, sure. Could see where it’s a pain but I feel like it’s far more unnatural to jump mid conversation to a channel with context like that?
I was using the most recent instance as an example, at the end of the day it's not that big of a deal and I don't care to comb through general to find a more obnoxious example
There have definitely been times where general/channels outside of glitter becomes a long back-and-forth between a handful of users and it's obnoxious when the givers in particular keep the conversation going, making sure anyone who's reading knows it's them who's giving expensive gifts. After a while, it just doesn't feel humble or polite.
Yeaaahhhhh this is behavior I've seen in other FR places so I'm not surprised it's supposed to be contained in the Discord. It's not as simple as pure joy over giving/receiving gifts. People are dicks sometimes lol.
god this is so funny to see out of context, ik you said as much below but this is such a minor thing i barely even know if it exists
for anyone not in SBR, the first user at the top was specifying that they completed their bestiary, minus the KS and Boolean, so that's why they said they'd struggle to not touch the amount of gems needed for one - after what is in the image happened said user immediately went to the glitter channel to jokingly complain about the eggs they received. so the only breaking containment was... the emojis and vaguely reacting to it, any actual evidence of what was gifted was contained to the glitter channel and later the dragon share since images of dragons gotta go in there, and they were showing the dragons they hatched from the eggs they got
so we have
emoji reactions, 1 gif, nothing mentioning actually gifting things, and then things were in the channel they were supposed to be. i've seen other topics derail a channel for far longer than glitter before they were popped into the right channel so yeah, if this was the straw that broke the camels back i get it but otherwise it's so funny that this made it here (but op nonny i love salt so still 10/10 we are in the petty salt after all)
OP here y'know what I DO appreciate that you guys want receipts for everything. Not only does it prevent people from talking out of their ass, but it made me realize that I don't actually care enough about the thing I'm complaining about to go fetch the evidence, even though I know it's there. I've just grown to dislike some of Light aesthetics including the constant glitter culture, and at this point I don't even want to vent I can just quietly leave lmao. Thank u nonnies for setting my head straight I love u little dragon people who live in my 'puter, even if some of you do react oddly from time-to-time <3
