I posted it downthread as well but I wanted to reiterate here. Anyone can order mercs. The vast majority of the earth community was in fact behind the levelling and exalting this push and were actively exalting on their own. It just wasn't officially called an Earthdom effort, because none of the leads had the time to come up with something official on the very last day.
As someone in earth: there were four users with deep pockets, but they were buying a lot of mercs FROM EARTH (and other flights, but mostly Earth and Fire). Light WAS pushing against Earth, but the incentive for those pebbles levelling and exalting was provided by four users with deep pockets instead of the official dom team itself.
Which is pretty much what an 'official' organized push looks like anyway, except replace the four rich users with the dom bank. It was pretty much an internal public buy with private citizen funds.
💯💯💯 to all of this. it wasn't just rich users buying dom, it was rich users running their own push as a group effort.
genuinely, i hope we see more of this from other flights as well, as the meta desperately needs something to change. there is a lot of pressure on dom leads to organize stuff like this, but for whatever reason in some flights the leads are not willing or able (or maybe the non-leads just want to do something! there's no reason it HAS to go through the leads). if small groups of users can fundraise and pull off small battles like this more frequently... that would be amazing.
i am SO over the hyper negotiated calcified dom calendar. IMO all pushes except for fests (and maybe like, the few times a year weaker dom flights do PBs for 1st) should be fair game. no one is OWED a certain week! coli and exalting is boring af without these stakes!
So y'all funded a last minute push, with support from more members of the Earth flight community and mercs from a few other flights? That should've been conveyed better from the start but I appreciate the clarification.
