That's the thing. Water proved they can be beaten, but 2 billion treasure is most of a dom vault. Much more than a dom vault, for some flights. Tapping out a vault is a big deal - it can hinder conquest efforts months down the line. Any flight that chooses to battle Earth is potentially setting up to have conquest on their flight holiday that year and nothing else. A powerhouse flight like Water (who I am convinced have Dom Rabies /lh) or Light (super well tenured) could bounce back okay but for most leaders it would still be an uphill battle to even get people on board for the fight in the first place bar the small number who genuinely enjoy exalting as a personal challenge.

If whoever it was who left Water gets Fire off the ground maybe EvF could be a thing but that will be a long time off if they're having to rebuild the dom vault and establish better practices from scratch.

Until then Earth is kind of fucked for partners. Without restrictions they're just too strong, but putting in restrictions isn't fun for anyone. Half the time it leads to drama because someone ends up calling the terms unclear, or they're unequal outside of a vacuum, or there's genuine miscommunication, or salt starts because "they only won because they crippled the other flight with terms." I can't think of a Flight that would feel good saying "We beat Earth!" with an asterisk next to it.

NAYRT yeah i think more of the dom scene in general needs to change for earth to get challenges; it's not as easy as earth having handicaps. i am hopeful that since fire is possibly the actual smallest flight, we could potentially see earth's placements split up between fire and earth so earth isn't so ridiculously dominant.

i think 2 bil is exaggerated just fyi someone can dig through old ARR threads but at the time I remember the number that came out being like maybe 1.1 or 1.2. definitely still expensive but not quite that bad - stop scaring people!!! /lh

idk i just have never heard a single whisper of earth asking another flight for any sort of competition and while they may all say "no thank you" i think it would behoove them first to try before saying it is impossible. that's all. like, why not?

you may very well be right but i really respect flights that are willing to try wacky shit regardless of the asterisks involved lol. i think it's good for the community.

That's the thing, as someone in Earth I feel like its impolite for our team to challenge another flight. It's very much a pick on someone your own size sort of deal, you know? A challenge from Earth feels like bullying to me

thats silly. nobody is making the other flight say yes. it might be a little bit awkward but you have to ask

Now I'm wondering if a 2v1 fight could be possible. Would it be helpful to have a second flight leveling and funneling dragons to the first?

Then again, I'm not sure any exalters would put in Battle amounts of effort to not place on the board at all.

I mean, it wasn't a fight but there was that push where Earth "catapulted" Shadow to the top of the dom board by funneling them levels so it wouldn't be unheard of

However, my own flight doesn't even have 1b in our war chest so I know we still couldn't try. I imagine since Earth's team is now more conscious of the power of raw treasure the next flight to try and take them will be spending even more than Water did, too.

NAYRT tbh a huge factor in spending more is hibdens. as everyone gets more hibden slots everyone will store up more fodder for battles and the price will increase as we go on.

Light had a billion locked and loaded for LvA and didn't even spend half of it, meanwhile Arcane ran out of money. The power of currency should never be underestimated by any competent dom team - starving the opposition out of money is an entirely valid tactic.

i continue to be baffled as to why that matchup ever happened. it's worse than ice and shadow.

As a former heavy exalter in Fire that left, I think it might also be a bit before Fire dom gets off the ground because (at least when I left) there was sort of a lingering distrust and apathy that had set in about dom. Fire (from what I saw in my years there) deeply wants to do dom, but has lost a lot of people who lost faith along the way.

I absolutely believe it can pick up momentum and become able to challenge Earth, but I think it will be slow (inertia of flight culture shifting) and the flight needs to regain confidence and excitement about dom.
