I've been playing FR for nearly a decade at this point. Love what I've accomplished during that time, but at this point I don't know what I want to do. My account is just about "complete", I've maxed out every level there is to max out. I've gathered so much items and in-game money my wallet never really aches anymore. There's no reason to play the game other than to collect new stuff whenever an update releases. Which I can usually just buy right away from the AH. While I don't have most of the rare familiars, and I don't have my lair or hibden maxed out, those aren't goals I want to accomplish either.
I want to start fresh, I want to feel that excitement of actually playing the game again. Actually have things to work towards other than gene projects.
I've never multi accounted or did any ban-worthy rule breaking. So I can't self report, nor do I want to do something just so I can self report. I know staff does not close accounts on request either. If I wasn't so scared of getting caught and losing both my current account and the new account, I would've restarted already. I don't want to exalt my current dragons either. Doing a lair revamp wouldn't let me re-level baldwin or gathering either.
Not sure what to do in this situation. I don't know if there's anything that I can do that doesn't break the rules. I guess I just needed to vent.
Staff closes accounts on requests only for EU citizens; iirc it's because of GDPR. I mean if you really want to restart you can just post on forums "haha i made this account when i was 12" or something, staff locks for that.
SA (also OP) I did also realize something else. I registered when I was 13, back when that was the minimum age for everyone in the EU. Then back in 2018 or something, the age got upped, 16 where I live. I was 15 for 4 more months during that time and didn't say anything because I didn't want to lose all my progress. I guess that is similar to having made an account at 12?
I have some artwork that I need to finish for other people first either way.
Not entirely related to this conversation but I've always wondered what happens to accounts in situations like this where the country ups the minimum age when someone who was compliant with the previous age but not the new age or if someone travels to a country where they're underage for social media where they're over the minimum age for their home country. Regardless, I don't think using the GDPR is the right call in this situation. Most bans staff gives don't involve nuking the account, but it might be different with the GDPR since they need to wipe your data. Make an alt, do a bunch of one-sided, suspicious trades with it and self report. You could also ask the people here to report it once you do that. That's the quickest and least harmful way I know of.
SA sorry didn't read the full original post. You might be SOL if you want to avoid rule breaking. You could send in a ticket and ask what exercising the GDPR would do to your account.
fairly sure that for what you want, the GDPR request you'd need to submit would result in your account being deleted, because nearly all of the architecture that makes your account (including username, email, DOB) is tied to personal data FR needs to keep your account active. removing any of that data which GDPR exists to protect would require FR to delete your account.
- Make a throwaway email. guerilla mail for example. - Change your account's email to the burner. - Change the password to utter gibberish.
Burner email will eventually expire, so you have no access to the email to recover your password.
Let your old account go inactive.
Do not attach your new account to your old account's original email.
Make a new account, enjoy the game anew. Since you can't access the old one, and neither account are profiting from the other, your activity won't raise any flags.
(Just don't be stupid and mention your old account to anyone on site; or off-site unless you trust them lol)
I wish I could start over

(Anonymous) 2024-12-26 08:11 am (UTC)(link)last I heard they don't, at least not when a friend tried to get theirs closed. That was years ago though, maybe it has changed since then.
