The general consensus seems to be that battling every year is exhausting, sure, unless you're Ice flight I guess lol. But we won't have seen battles from these flights in 2+ years by the end of 2024.

Peeps in these flights... how you feeling? Do you want to battle? Have your orgs said anything about it???

Part of the problem with earth is that a lot of flights don’t want to battle them. Battles are fun when you might have a fighting chance, not so much with a curbstomp. People were confused enough when Arcane challenged Light. The only flight that might stand a chance, numbers-wise, would be fire, and realistically it would have to be with massive support from at least one other flight and a crack dom team stepping in.

Water might have a shot but I think they gave it a try and it was rough.

It was expensive, but it was worthwhile and a good time. But I think water wants to challenge other flights.

Considering the status of fire dom, I don't see that happening.

So Earth needs a pass due to lack of challengers

I agree with you that Earth does have a lack of challengers but I'd still like to know how pebbles feel about potentially no battles in the future. Idk I feel like if it were me I'd be so bored and begging my team to agree to intentionally nerf us so that someone would be willing to try HAHAHA but everyone has different playstyles.

I am water. It was rough for both sides. A win does not mean it was easy. That was a battle we prepped 6+ months for and threw a ton of money at.

It was exhausting. There's a reason we refused battling for so long after.

Pebble here, our dom team has pretty strongly hinted they’re uninterested in battling due to the stress it placed on them last time. It sounds like they’re not even entertaining the question at the moment.

Personally I’m indifferent, I’m someone who always makes it to the leaderboard and I would go hard regardless of whether or not there was a battle lol. That might be why there’s not much of a push to battle in Earth? I don’t want to leak IFR numbers or anything but we have some individuals who exalt more every push (even profit pushes) than some OOFRs get with big chase prizes. It doesn’t make a difference to them whether or not there’s a battle going on, they’ll go hard anyway, so why add the extra stress to the dom team? If that makes sense.

Not to sound insensitive, but I'm just genuinely curious... how does Earth prevent burnout with such constant grinding?

My assumption has always been that it's like an unofficial "rotation" based on people's energy levels-- where there's enough people going super hard all the time that a few of them taking breaks and sitting back for a while will fill in with the people previously resting. But I don't know how much water that assumption actually holds.

I guess that is true in a way, it’s usually the same 10 people cycling through the leaderboard, although there are 2-3 people who claim the top spots more often than not. But that’s very much an individual question than an Earth question. Personally, I feel that Earth doesn’t ask that much of me. We officially push like 5 times a year? That’s only 5 weeks out of 52 that I’m spending every waking moment on FR. Plenty of downtime in between to catch a break.

I have 0 interest in battling as, frankly, it's not worth the energy investment: train, train for a few months to fill hibden and other storage. exalt, exalt for a week. carpal tunnel yeah. result: maybe a 15% discount at best. i cannot wait to finish all 19 of my current projects with that /s

Nothing wrong with not wanting to battle. You seem pretty level-headed and reasonable about it.

The only time I find fault with those not wanting to battle is the ones that in one sentence are ranting about how they don't want to waste money on battles but in the next gripe no one else is battling for th em to profit off of.

I forgot about those people because they are also the reason I don't want to battle... I can usually reach the top 10 or 20 in any IF or OOF raffle going by exalt stats, so it's very demoralizing when you've been preparing for months and then see someone else go during battle 'yeah, I've stopped training on Tuesday because I wasn't making enough money' - but site-given rewards will be the same for both of us. I still long for a flight leaderboard or exalt shop or exalt-exclusive rewards as I think that if rewards were more proportional to efforts, maybe more battles (or not only sprawling battles with months-long prep) will happen.

There are like 0 mechanical rewards for it, that's so true. If it's not fun for you just for the sake of it, I can see being totally disinterested.
