the tragedy of getting a horrible craving for one specific flavour, knowing exactly what product you can sate your urge with, what store to go to, what aisle it's in, only for it to not be in stock

i needed the extremely artificial taste of strawberry, so i was going to get those packaged strawberry shortcake snack cakes, but instead walked out with store brand pop tarts. good news: it's got that exact same "tastes like it was developed by a guy with an idea of what strawberry tastes like" i needed

I love that flavor, I just wish it were available without red 40. That shit tears my gut up.

I end up getting a lot of Japanese strawberry candy bc they use natural coloring.

A lot of countries have Red 40 banned, and it's easier to get strawberry flavored stuff from other countries than it is to hunt through American shit and try to find any without the fucking dye in it.

Hmm I think it depends. Excuse me while I put way more thought than necessary in to this.

Nature and Arcane most likely don't have yolks and are just a seed and a magic orb. Please do not eat the orb.

Light eggs are just a crystalline glowing egg, so they absolutely make the best omelettes of the bunch. They ALWAYS turn out light and fluffy. Water, Wind and Ice can also probably make omelettes easily enough. Gotta be careful when cracking Water and Ice though, you might find barnacles or shards of ice in your meal.

Shadow egg's tooltip says it feels like it's full of liquid, but sometimes you can see a dark form inside of it. So it had a yolk at some point, but you probably can't make a good omelette out of it. It'll be all runny, and probably look like Shadowbinder's goop. Lightning has a similar tooltip where it says you can see the baby dragon inside. If you can get one before the dragon forms, good luck opening it without hurting yourself.

Good fucking luck cracking an Earth or Fire egg to find out.

Plague is possible to make an omelette of, but you will get terrible horrible food poisoning. Probably should avoid unless you are of Plague flight yourself or are one of those lactose intolerant people who don't give a shit about possibly dying when your grandma puts her homemade secret family recipe cheesecake in front of you.

The breed specific eggs most likely have yolks, but are tough as hell to crack, making an omelette out of them might not be worth the effort.

as someone who joined a flight only because their fest week surrounds their birthday, i noticed that there are some generalisations that people have for each flight. it's super cool (and terrible) that it exists— i think that the fact that people made communities out of each flight so cool? like yeah, it's obvious that would happen, but the thought still is so cool to me.

anyway, what are some stereotypes for each flight? i know plague has a bad rep re: dom, but what other stereotypes does each flight have?

Off the top of my head:
* wind: corgis
* lightning: spreadsheets
* ice: relatively introverted
* fire: disintegrating dom, worst place on site rn
* earth: very wealthy, good at dom
* light: aesthetic
* plague: edgelords
* shadow: goth edgelords

I wouldn't say plague has a bad rep for dom behavior in general so much as there was a spurt of unfortunate attitude from a subset of users on display for the impromptu Plague v. Water fight.

overall, the stereotypes I've got look something like (going in fest order):

• light: by and large people who feel strongly about #aesthetic, which also goes hand in hand with attracting wealthier users (since buddy these UMAs aren't gonna pay for themselves) and thus strong exalters. if they were a zodiac sign they'd be leo—glamor-loving but generous; or the (eastern zodiac) snake—elegant and socially savvy.
  
• lightning: one of the flights that is most likely to attract people who match the in-universe FR lore; the stormcatcher is kind of a love him or hate him sort of deity, it seems. thus: people in microsoft excel fandom, portal fandom, or both. dom is a chance to [naruto fistclench] test their abilities. if they were a zodiac sign, they'd be the rat.
  
• fire: the few, the proud, the... uh. suffering. you gotta REALLY love fire flight's aesthetic to be in this flight, as its hot mess (no pun intended) of a dom situation is infamous. this speaks to a certain kind of strong devotion in its members.
  
• arcane: a vast galaxy (see what I did there) largely made up of the kind of people who love to self-describe as "nerdy"; often kind of cringe but in a deeply earnest way that's very cute. don't have a competitive bone in their bodies, bless them. if they were a zodiac sign, they'd be pisces.
  
• plague: hardcore types who "aren't like other girls," though most of them are too genuinely cool to do something as uncool as actually say they think of themselves that way out loud. they may not all love gross stuff, but they have an appreciation for the macabre, and probably enjoy a good villain protagonist. strong dom flight because, for better or worse, they like the ability to flex. if they were a zodiac sign, they'd be aries.
  
• earth: the flight that has changed most dramatically over the years, from a small and humble corner of close-knit folks to THE dom powerhouse and thus go-to home for users who consider that to be the most important element of a flight. similar to light's expensive tastes, this does tend to correlate with a high proportion of users who care about #aesthetic, especially with how fashionable earth-toned dragons have become lately. if they were a zodiac sign, they'd either be (eastern zodiac again) the dragon.
  
• ice: the OTHER flight that has changed a ton over the years: from being the original home for users who valued aesthetic above all else AND the original dom powerhouse, to a more chill (heh) flight of folks who still enjoy pretty things and dom culture, but don't need to be #1 all the time.
  
• shadow: another large and sprawling flight, this time largely made up of the kind of people who would have enjoyed "come to the dark side, we have cookies" memes in 2010, for lack of a better way of putting it. not the most organized or ambitious flight, but very fun. they wish they were scorpios, but they're actually more like the eastern monkey or pig.
  
• wind: fun-loving creatives; overall the most artistic flight. this sort of thing helps them fund dom ambitions despite their large size, but they're still not especially dom-focused overall. if they were a zodiac sign, they'd be gemini or sagittarius.
  
• water: probably the flight most likely to counter your expectations; rather than being a bunch of hippie-dippie dreamers to match the in-universe "oracle" lore, water flight folks are friendly, ambitious, and energetic, combining earth's (and plague's) interest in dom with a more "just here to have fun (and kick ass)" vibe. also a small flight, thus close-knit; even if the personality type doesn't match the lore, the flight nevertheless attracts people who value the aesthetics and lore over having trendy eye colors. their zodiac sign would be aquarius—clever and creative but unsentimental.
  
• nature: 90% mom friends by volume. nature folks love a good community project, and the people here are indeed pretty much universally nature-lovers. if they were a zodiac sign, they'd be taurus—a bit set in their ways, but typically cozy caretaker-types—or the dog.

Idk about side-wide stereotypes. Those are/used to be mine.

I used to hate Light. I thought they were all annoying, pretentious tryhards. It's now my favorite flight. LOL (I feel entirely different about them now!) I know people believe them to be filthy rich and possibly a bit haughty. My opinion is that they're just very tight-knit and the filthy rich stereotype mostly stems from their huge gift giving culture. Some of them are absolutely loaded though, I'll give you that.

I used to think Shadow were a bunch of 13 year old edgy kids. They're actually very nice, kind, and I LOVE their dom pushes. They don't actually like the goopy, cursed, weird aesthetic of their flight so much.

Earth: back then (like, years ago), just some people who like rocks or were emotionally damaged by the fact that Earthshaker has no friends left (valid to feel this way). Now, to me, all the annoying g1/uma people are in there and they're unsufferable.

Nature: hippies. My view of them hasn't changed in 8 years LOL. Absolutely love their vibes. They're so kind. Never bothered. They adore their flight. Good for them!

I don't have many thoughts about the other flights. Honestly, except the flock of people who moved to Earth to leech off the dom bonuses, I think most flights have cool vibes.

I'm loving it so far, there's soooooooo many cutscenes that I've been playing all day and I only just finished the first dungeon... everything looks so amazing, the dye channel choices are making me laugh, and the Syrcus Tower bug sounds incredibly funny to witness. I'm just worried about how some of these characters and plot points might... turn out but I guess it's still too early to really say. Hoping to get through it all before I go back to work!

I've been having a blast with the new xpac so far! Spent the first day leveling Viper, then dove into MSQ proper yesterday. I've been taking my time filling out the fishing log as much as I can along the way :D

I think the solution to Arlo and Baldwin being annoying is Not to make Baldwin More like Arlo (everything takes only half an hour so you have to click notifs constantly) but to make Baldwin Less like Arlo (everything takes 2+ hours and you get 4 goops back at the end of that).

The fact they're changing all the 2 hour recipes to half an hour is so freaking annoying. I really don't think anyone on staff plays their own game.
