They’re now up to 60kg… I know this is gonna be an immensely unpopular opinion, but I really wish FR would put more limits on cross-site trading (or stop it altogether).

I feel like in the last year, there’s been a handful of users allegedly migrating immense amounts of currency from CS to FR, and every time it results in tons of drama and/or accounts being locked. It really doesn’t seem like there’s a great way to monitor this, despite some of the recent changes they’ve made

I'm starting to hold the same opinion because it's too easy for rule breakers to fake cross site trades or fib about them to skirt around TOS. A verification system for trades may be possible, but I would think that would be very taxing on staff resources and not worth their time, especially when monitoring frequent and small trades.
There's also the drawbacks that it causes for other, less popular sites. Take lorwolf for example, and how many players used their entire investment in that site for the purpose of cross site trading and flip selling. It ended up at least partially affecting the reputation and success of that game.

>It ended up at least partially affecting the reputation and success of that game.

no it did not lol

All of Lorwolf's issues are either caused or exasperated by their own failures and refusal to fix things.

I know a lot of people in this community and SMR disagree, but cross site trading has huge benefits for smaller games. It gets FR users who may have never heard of the game potentially into it, it stimulates the economy of the smaller game (if they actually have a good game loop/economy), and in general more people are playing the smaller game as a result. Also in many cases it's financially beneficial for FR.

I don't know how to solve for the shady people that take advantage. But I know a lot of FR users that were able to achieve FR dreams otherwise impossible or extremely difficult, because of cross site trading. Honestly I think a very large majority of cross site trades are genuine and not trying anything, it's just the shady ones are really obvious and stand out.

There’s definitely something positive about different pet sites creating cross-site interest, but a lot of the good this can do for either site’s economy is nullified when accounts moving around thousands of dollars worth of currency are frozen, removing said items/dragons/pets/etc. from said economies

I’m not really talking about players who move around 500 gems worth of things. Or even 5000 gems

Achieving a lofty goal via cross-site trading is great, but it’s painful to watch 100kg+ dragons and items get moved to an account that’s less than a week old, only for that account to be frozen and those assets be permanently removed from circulation, which drives up the prices for players who aren’t cheating

NAYRT

Yeah, I see people who dislike cross site trading, but honestly, I feel that it can benefit both sites. There are sites I started playing because I heard they were good for cross site trading, but then realized I liked the game and stayed for that game, not just trading purposes.

So, if a game is *good* then I doubt cross site traders (those who will only want to cross site trade, and not play the game for itself) affect it all that much, and it might even be positive, because those players need to generate the currency/items required to trade.

It is only if the game has problems or isn't considered fun by the majority that they have the issues with cross site trading.

Also, for the record, I started playing lorwolf, not for trading purposes, and yeah, it was interesting, but way too much of a grind and there were too many things that were time gated. It stopped being fun. So I quit.

So, lorwolf's problems are lorwolf's fault, not any other site.

Finally, cross site trading goes both ways. There are sites I play where people have realized that they can trade FR stuff for the other site's currency/items, so they play FR to do that.

i've always wondered how the CS economy works, i have an old (2008) acct but don't know what to sell for gems or what the market is. despite looking around a bit it just seems hard to get things sold, so seeing newbies with immense stacks of gems from cs is so suspect to me. who is buying ?
