i'm running into a bit of a dilemma and am hoping some anons can give me some advice.
so, i've been in my current flight for forever, but a recent attempt to get more closely involved in my flight's community has left me feeling very alienated. and now, for the first time ever, i'm considering a flight change.
...but there's some problems: my clan's lore and breeding pairs are all based around my original flight. and the next-most obvious lore choice looks horrible with my breeding pairs, while also being a flight with a kind of sprawling community that i think wouldn't be much fun for me and how i like to engage with stuff like dom. i could go to a different flight that has a good color scheme for my dragons AND a dom scene i'm interested in... but it has fuck-all to do with my lore. (e.g. say I was in plague, with plague + arcane lore: arcane would be the better swap lore-wise, but earth eyes would look better with my dragons while being a more fun community for me to play in.)
i'm really attached to my clan's lore and don't want to redo it! so should i...
(1) chill in my current flight and go back to mostly doing my own thing rather than getting involved, which is if nothing else definitely less demanding on my schedule;
(2) swap to the huge flight with a sprawling community whose lore i love, trusting that i'll still enjoy getting involved, and retire my breeding pairs except for the rare nest rental (it's not like i have a hatchery; i'm just a stickler for matchy eyes); or
(3) swap to the flight with the great eyes and the nice dom scene, because it's just pretend dragons and what are we, the lore cops?
i'd ask around on FRD, but now that i'm actually sorta known in my flight community i'd rather keep the info that i'm thinking of leaving on the DL unless or until i actually swap.

Funny news: the PVP forum thread of people wanting the staff to hand out dragons from banned accounts and being obnoxious about it we were talking about is now deleted.

It's really interesting to me to see how things have shifted in salt communities over the last 9ish years that I've been on flight rising. Granted, I haven't been closely involved for that whole time, but there is definitely a different vibe over time.
Mostly thought of this because of the sharp decline in screenshots from the old dramarising era to the modern saltmines. I wonder why / what drove that. I mean, ARR does screenshots and archives threads still. and If I remember correctly, the old DR had the same censoring screenshots rules that SMR does now

Inspired by an old "gimmick lair ideas" post
I want to make a little project- a little group of dragons that function vaguely like colony insects- think bees, ants, etc.
I was thinking of starting with a Wasp/Bee/Glowtail female to be the queen, and a Wasp/Bee/Basic male to breed with her. Since Glowtail is rare and Basic is plentiful, the vast majority of the hatchlings should show Basic terts. (Unfortunately there's no way to skew the gender ratio) They'll be workers, who cycle through the colony as they age and die (i.e. as I get bored of them/run out of lair space)
Any female hatchlings that inherit glowtail are the next generation of queens, who can be moved to a new tab and bred with an unrelated male to start a new colony. I'm not sure where this leaves the glowtail male hatchlings- they could be the winged male counterparts to the future queens, but they'd have to... lose glowtail before breeding? Idk it just feels weird. Maybe to adapt it to flight rising 50/50 gender ratio they can simply become kings who mate with a Basic tert female. Idk I'm taking suggestions. Either way the glowtail hatchlings should be very rare so with any luck my colony won't make one until its decently sized.
For fun (agony) I was thinking the queens would have to be level 25 to be "fully mature" and start a colony. The workers would also be leveled to some specified but lower (for my sanity) level and be exalted whenever they "die". Should I make basic tert males soldiers like ants? and level them higher than female workers? Idk.
To keep my lair from immediately becoming overrun by wasp/bee/basic dragons I was thinking of 1) keeping them all the same dragon breed so the clutches are smaller and 2) introducing some level of challenge or randomness to it (think nuzlockes/pinkerlockes) but I haven't baked that part of the idea yet. Something like *rolls dice* "rain washes away pheromone trail, ant mill occurs, exalt 5 workers" or "battle with rival colony for resources"
Am I foolish and setting myself up for annoyance or would keeping a little dragon ant pile be fun (asks the anon who used to play SimAnt on the supernintendo)

I happened to be looking around the Flight Rising wiki and noticed this bit in the Snapper trivia section -
"Snapper lore was changed due to similarities to the Boralion species from Valenth, an adoptable site that has since been shut down."
Does anyone have any information on what happened?? The wiki only lists the old Snapper lore, but like, was this a big thing? How similar were they? I've never heard of any of this but I have to assume a lot of drama went down around it...

Imagine if the staff added a hypothetical feature where, if you have duplicates of a familiar, you could "bond" with one of the duplicates. This would destroy the item and would count as a second bond for the day, so you could speed up getting to Awakened.
This would obviously have a massive effect on AH prices for cheap familiars but I'm sure it would cause upheaval in other ways too (Coli, baldwin...)

I was just checking out the new marketplace layout, and looking at the gene prices, I just can't understand the pricing decisions. Genes like Boa (newer, has accent colors, actually follows the contours of a dragon's body instead of looking pasted on) cost less than ones like Giraffe (avoids looking pasted on but it's a pretty basic pattern, older, no accent colors) or Bar (looks somewhat pasted on, really old, no accent colors). Maybe you can explain the high price of something like Bar because it was really popular back when it first came out, but I can't really imagine that when Giraffe came out, the devs looked at it and said, "Yeah! THIS is something people will fall over themselves to pay 225kt for!" instead of "It's nice enough." (I mean, I love Boa/Saddle so I'm glad they're relatively cheap, but I really don't get it.)

After searching in the subforum for a while the best choices were either Vendrus or someone else (whose name I forgot rn) but then, after some more searching found an artist whose style I loved for this character, and they specialized in the type of vibes I was looking for. What was even better, they recently returned from a hiatus! And their customs were open!
Bought some accents from this artist, followed their thread and then made the question.
They answer pretty quickly, their tablet broke and aren't sure when is going to be fixed. They seem to be inactive again.
Ffs now I'll have to wait for a slot either with Vendrus or the other artist.

I took a long break from FR, and I remember back then, people would bump their threads and then delete the post afterwards to avoid clutter. This doesn’t seem to be a thing anymore, and there’s nothing wrong with that! But does anyone know why (and/or when) this shift happened?
In my Furvilla days I remember not being able to delete posts, and I hated bumping my own stuff because I’d end up with pages of spammy posts. So it was very interesting to see people on FR not take advantage of this.
