Fire Dom once again

Is quite literally fucked. Everyone who even cared has given up in it, or has just gone inactive or left. Virtually nothing has been done for our March 10 push. Has a dom team for an entire flight completely disintegrated in the past before?

Not unexpected but it sucks :(
Not to get way too sappy about pixel dragons but... I was really involved in Firedom many years ago and it was such a fun and supportive community. It's sad watching it struggle to keep itself alive in the past few years, and I'm disappointed with how it got to be this way. I've thought about leaving, too, but that would feel like admitting that the community from 8 years ago is gone for good.

+ with 104! badges available this week only (I think?) Earth deserves it, that's a lot of work - why aren't they conquesting for real? open a buy themselves.
and Plague double doms like two or three times throughout the year, so I think it'd be hilarious if they get to be the first flight to lose an attempt on the first week. not like they cancel the next week right? lol

nonny if you read the chat you would see the problem is that, according to our orgs (at least 2 of them have said this IN PLAGUE CHAT), water did not communicate at all. why are we the bad guys for being pissed and upset at this. if ya like water so much go join them, damn!

Dom Planning

To me, the whole Plague double-dom fiasco is a sign that Dom NEEDS to get more spontaneous. Raffles have gotten bigger and bigger and so has planning, and it's made it such that there are only a couple battles per year.

Spontaneous things like Water's current conquest honestly seem like a GOOD idea. Now, I'm sure that Water is going through a lot of funds right now with their PB and I have no doubt it took plenty of planning. But the fact that Water was able to pivot to a conquest from a profit shows it can be done!

IDK... as much as Dom etiquette has done for the community over the years, I think dissuading competition for "called shots" (outside of festivals) makes Dom less interesting. It feels more fun to compete with other players than just... trying to overcome dom fatigue.

TLDR I think Dom will become more fun again when it gets less serious and more spontaneous

Thoughts on Fire

It's honestly a shame to see. Earth's settled itself as THE less common aesthetic Flight with a Good Dom presence helped by having a Small Active Population (and your personal contributions 'count' more than they would in a large Flight). I think unless you're very into Fire as your flight (for aesthetics, lore, community, whatever) there's just not a lot of reason for the average exalter to stick around for a Dom team (or two?) that haven't inspired much confidence. Fire COULD be a good place for new Dom Heads but you have to either join the old team and struggle to enact meaningful change (apparently, I'm not in Fire) OR make a new team. And a new team could garner a lot of support from everyone besides the old guard... but that already failed once, which is a bummer and a blow to morale. Being a Dom leader sounds like an exhausting job even with support from team members, so it's probably easier to work under an established team than head one yourself.

Idk, I just think Fire has potential but idk if it'll happen. Like what's the likelihood of a band of exalters/leaders saying "let's go rekindle Fire dom"? It sort of happened to Earth when they became heavy hitters, but they were THE smallest flight, so they got the most exalt ratio bang for their buck. It made sense.
What's the odds of a group of Fire flight natives saying "we want Dom back and we will build it here rather than join someplace much more established"? Genuinely idk, I'm not there.
