An important update:

Due to a specific person being a complete child, comments are going to be screened by default.

This is only temporary, and I apologize for the inconvenience- this is going to be a pain in the ass for me, too, but multiple people have come forward about fears of doxxing, and this is the only way to make sure any doxxing is contained.

(This basically will force the doxxer to make a DW account to post any doxxing attempts unscreened, and will let me more reliably report them to DW staff/authorities.)

Again, I apologize, and will be working to unscreen comments as fast as possible, but I'm only one person.

(Vasemod has had some personal issues come up, so I am the only mod atm. Please bear with me until this bit of annoyance has passed.)

I collect XXY G1s, too- still working to hit 40, but the color I collect is starting to become popular, so I've had competition in auctions.

I also collect bones- I have like 20+ pages of bone fragments, ribs, skulls etc lol.

people sometimes get mad if they feel like others are "hogging" something - but it's not like you're buying up Light Sprites to inflate the price; you're clearly collecting these dragons because they make you happy.

if anything, you're probably giving more money to the sellers of these G1s than they would be getting if you DIDN'T collect that color combo, just not in a "hogging finite item pools" way like with the Light Sprite example. doubles are doubles and all, but some g1 doubles sit on the AH for a long time because nobody really wants that particular color. i'm not sure which color you're collecting, but if it's not an already popular color like white, black, obsidian, antique, et cetera (which i'm assuming it's not), then your love has made it more valuable. and that is very sweet.

do you know what i mean? like, the people who would get mad about you having 50 G1 doubles of a certain color probably don't even want one of those dragons for themselves - they just see somebody have what they consider to be "too much" of something and start going, "wahhh, what about me?!" so i'm just trying to say, ignore those voices of misplaced jealousy. you're happy, the sellers you bought your dragons from are happy, and that's all that matters.

in The Early Days of my collecting i was buying the doubles (the color is sapphire, which is also a color a lot of people dont like because it's weirdly deep and saturated) for... 500g? 1000g? MAYBE 2500g if someone was feeling peckish
and then i fell in love with two specific ones, and paid 10kg and 20kg respectively for them, and then after that, for THREE YEARS the prices for double sapphires skyrocketed and i had to pay 4-5kg for them on average :sob:

tldr i accidentally inflated the market for the thing i collect and ate the cost for my hubris

i really appreciate the nice words here, its very reassuring (oops im repeating myself). i have BPD so i can feel negativity REALLY strongly and thats why it hurts Real Bad when people think im bragging or whatever when i know im just happy
i remember being posted on dramarising because i was buying too many adoptables for one of my dragons and someone was really pissed about it

its also scary to out myself sometimes or even just put myself on a radar at all because way way back, there was a group of people who harassed me really badly (they, according to my therapist, had quite a large part in my BPD manifesting! they did shit like threatening to contact my school to tell them i cheated on my finals) and one of the things theyd do was post me on every drama comm they could find for increasingly stupid reasons. "hi x" is banned on this comm because it was so bad people just posted "hi [name of ringleader]" every time i got posted here for something dumb because people were tired of hearing about me
im trying to be more "present" in communities but, yknow, scars and all that. i like this community because the mods give a shit and since it's all anonymous i can post things i feel good about without being worried someone is going to take me to the cleaners over it

I'm sorry to hear you don't have friends you can talk about ur g1 double collection with :( That's super cool! I don't even have 50 dragons total yet (lair cleanout and aesthetic switch helped, lol)

I've started collecting Iri/Shim/Soap Tundras! Not specifically gen 1s (im way too casual to have that many gems to gene them all up from scratch) Which is.. niche.. and unfortunately I'll never ever get the (fake) money I've put into geneing/scrolling some of them back because I think I'm literally the only person who likes them and I'm basically just breeding them for myself. But it's okay!

I actually posted on anonrerising a few threads ago about having a dream about owning iri/shim tundras that looked like parrots and tropical birds in general.. and I finally decided to go for it. I'm sad there's not a better tert out there for what I'm envisioning but Soap was close enough I decided to go for it. Haha, triple gem gened Tundras... Almost all the ones I've bought instead of bred had to be scrolled to Tundra from another breed.

I know what it's like to not have like, a FR support network u can share to, though. Most people don't like Tundras to begin with, and the... interesting colors I'm working with aren't exactly popular. :( Instead of being accused of bragging, people just go "ew" and like, I get it, but it hurts after a while, haha. Like, can't you just be happy I'm happy instead of shitting on my dragons?

and i like soap as a gene too, but it looks like ass with some colors no matter what you do -- i think thats just a product of how the automated coloring that picks from the color's palette does it. kind of like how irishim is FUCKED with some colors

and i totally agree with you about the 'ew' stuff. people on FR really have no shame when it comes to shitting on things other people like, and a lot of that comes from being annoying teenagers who grew up on twitter. i wish people could learn to be nicer and just find something to compliment about a dragon. like.. even if you hate tundras, whats the harm in going "oh, shimmer with that color is really cute" or some kind of basic compliment. point out what you like instead of what you hate.........

Too many people think that just because they are anonymous (and I mean in the general 'you never know who is behind a username' anon, not 'not logged in so all posts show up as anonymous' way) they don't have to have any courtesy and can do what they want, including insult others.
