they do have old favourites; 888, YECHEN, WildGazebo, and Saerino are there! i think it's a good thing they tried to choose new people for most of them, and i hope that it continues and we see more of those old favourite cycle out in favour for returning favourites (like nilah, who only occasionally enters) and new folk.
holy shit. this is just proving to me that none of the people bitching about mv winning fest actually give a shit about artists winning too often or fairness lmao. it's gotta be 3-4 people who have a hateboner if other artists are out here winning 30 fests and no one's said a peep
How many contests has Saerino entered vs MV? It looks like MV entered two full festival cycles, or 22 contests. I don't remember Saerino being a regular contestant, but the fact they're a 2015 players makes sense why they have so many wins.
We should probably be calculating this based on (number of wins)/(number of contests entered). I'm actually pretty interested to see what that looks like
MV: 14 wins in 22 submissions (64% win rate) across 22 festivals
Saerino: 30 wins in 39 submissions (78% winrate) across 79 festivals (started October the first year they started entering)
MV is more consistently entering and winning in a shorter period of time than Saerino, Saerino has won 14% more of the time than MV but entered FAR, FAR less in a longer period of time.
(I'm mildly impressed though, bc percentages are an evil I can't process. Also amused that an anon comm is doing math about pixel dragons and pixel dragon accessories.)
thanks to FR I learned so much about spreadsheets that I carried the knowledge into my job and streamlined so many projects because of it. Got promoted because of it too!

Re: Brightshine Jubilee
(Anonymous) 2023-06-28 04:40 am (UTC)(link)in all honesty, I like math, and I kinda have to for the skills I utilize, BUT percentages aren't too hard!
when I was younger, I learned to put it into the context of "x times out of y", then divide x by y.
so for example, "9 times out of 10" becomes 9 รท 10 which is .90 or 90% of the time.
