Right now, I'm hitting at least $30 a month.

Then again, after living on $150-200 a week in my last job, maybe I'm overreacting to normal entertainment spending in a better place financially?

The way I've always seen it is that if you can afford yourself, are being realistic about what you can/cannot afford and it doesn't grow into an addiction, there's nothing wrong with giving yourself a little treat while also supporting a game you enjoy.

I mean hell, if I put up with my job I sometimes wanna reward myself a little for it, you know? And while FR and its staff may not be perfect I appreciate them for making the game and being open-minded and anti-crunch. I'm happy to throw them a few bucks for some gems every once in a while.

I typically buy £100-£200 worth a month, I'm a student with a part time job who is to lazy to grind and drops money for my scatters, genes, gen 1's and accents.

Then there are months when I only spend £30

Past few months hurt due to new releases.

Also my lair looks average and I'm not FR rich at all. No sprites, speedy or retired stuff.

I do hoard accents though?? I'm too lazy sell them but I have 10 pages of them doing nothing in my hoard.

Hey, a kindred spirit. Yea. Accent buying is one of my things.

Admittedly, I'm old enough on the site to be FR rich, but the wealth does nothing when I sit on it like a dragon.

My issue is also an addiction to g1 auctions. There's something about winning a prize in those.

When I was a student, I used that kind of money on things like going out to bars or eating with friends. It's awesome you don't seem to need social interaction in your life though

So, you wasted money and time partying in school with people that, in most cases, you haven't spoken to much if at all since graduating, and feel you can use that to lord over others on an internet anon comm. *rolls eyes*

Online interaction and socializing is just as valid as going out and partying.

Because you sound like you would fit into a crowd that was on neopets when they first brought out Neocash.

There were people flipping their lids because someone else might have the audacity to buy Neocash when they could be using that money to pay for bills or go to the theater, or go out to eat.

How dare these people spend their entertainment budget on a game that entertains them? Or, what it probably really boiled down to, how dare these people spend money on things I personally don't like.

my perspective is that this is a lowkey obscene amount of money to be spending on the dragon game per month—or any kind of gaming. at least with other forms of "entertainment budget" like eating out or art commissions or clothing, you can get something nicer as a special treat if you're willing to spend some extra money, so i can comprehend the occasional splurge in order to get something you would have no way to acquire otherwise.

i'm with airt on this one. if you have that kind of money burning a hole in your pocket, there are just… way better uses than the pixel dragons, and i say this as someone who has bought gems lots of times.

This whole thread is so weird. Why is there a Dudebro vs Straightedge argument happening in my silly lizard game drama community. Why does any one care this much about other’s spending habits or how they entertain themselves.
