Yeah, honestly all I can see from the evidence in the screenshots is a watermark that used the same font and motif and some vaguely similar drapery. Using the same style and motifs as someone else isn't theft like tracing is. Like sure, it's rude and also embarrassing, and why in the world would you post that in the same server with the artist you're referencing your shit from thinking they're not going to notice. But uh aren't half the skins on FR derivative knockoffs of other similar skins? And the response from op here sounds unhinged, it boils down to frothing at the mouth over someone drawing similar drapery/wing shape and... they copied someone's font and devil tail when signing their wip, oh no, someone call the fucking cops.

Then explain how literally more than a handful of people were made to be uncomfortable? Like are we all just wrong? People left the server over this specific person and what they did; Is it wrong to be uncomfortable when someone literally copies your watermark? Like it's not tracing for sure but it is extremely uncomfortable for the artist in question. As for the other allegations, It's not that they're similiar to silks and wings and jewelry it's that things were posted directly after another artist posted theirs and it clearly was inspired by the previous work. Say what you want but that is enough to discourage someone from posting anymore because it feels like someone is piggybacking off of your work.

Yes we understand C apologized, and that apology is widely accepted. It's noble that they backed off and are getting their own style in check but people are still allowed to be uncomfortable.

Sounds like someone hyped up the idea that they were copying more than that and the gossip itself snowballed until you had multiple people convinced that they were 'tracing' someone else's art, which it's clear from every screenshot so far that they weren't. If someone copied the font I was using to label a wip I would literally not care at all, oh my god. Why didn't you or the person they used the same font from just tell them to knock it off at the time instead of blowing this weirdly out of proportion?

If you could read what C said; The and the artist did talk it out and it's not even just about that one copied signature. It was about everything else with it. There have been MULTIPLE people who have been made uncomfortable. Also good for you! Your feelings do not reflect on others. If it bothered the artist they're valid? It's still something that was worked on by them and to have it copied is a little weird and disheartening. And like.

this is really starting to sound like you and your friends have been shittalking this person in a private server for months and blowing what is basic inspiration and bad timing into something that is, to you, an unforgivable transgression. youre allowed to feel upset about someone but its abundantly clear that youre going bitch eating crackers about this. i thought it was weird that multiple salt places suddenly had a half dozen messages about this and its starting to make more sense if this is just from an astroturfed drama circlejerk. your level of vitriol towards changgwi (and changgwi alone) is severely overblown when put next to the vague implications of copying in the screenshots youve posted.

as a side note the only timestamps involved here are for the decomposedcarrot art. when changgwi posted their accent inspired by that work it was /three/ months after decomposedcarrots message. if youre going to harp on something thays easily proven like them apparently posting "copied" works right after someone else, you should have some proof for that.

as ive said before the amount of vitriol towards changwi does not reasonably align with the tenuous-at-best "proof" of copying (they both have silks / wings / "sample" text is barely worth writing home about) so i am understandably suspicious about the other claims as well.

that's kind of a huge accusation to make that someone has a circlejerk server about it just because you feel like pointing that kind of finger? multiple people can be separately offended about this. do you have screenshots to back up that theory or are you just kinda baselessly flinging this kind of stuff around like the other anons?

i didnt say they made a specific server exclusively to shittalk changwi, i said that they had a private server unrelated to AAA. the anon who keeps posting about this said its their "friends" who are upset about this so its not a reach to assume that they have been discussing this in their own private friend server.

also these two situations arent really comparable. these other anons are calling out a specific, named individual and assumedly have screens due to their direct and repeated interaction with changwi but arent posting them. the burden of proof is on them and their failure to share it is making this situation pretty sus to me, and im sharing that opinion.

Yeah, sometimes people in toxic echo chambers can all be wrong and uncomfortable. My mom's in several of those.

you can watch it real-time in EVERY FR discord where there's that "one" group that's a clique and shoves everyone else out -- sometimes just by everyone but them being ignored bc theyve made themselves such a huge presence, or that clique being disingenuously pushy at other people until they just don't want to deal with it
every discord has this toxic clique and they're all their own mini echo chamber

Yup, I overreacted. I was angry. Some of the artists are my friends and seeing people dismiss their concerns about being uncomfortably referenced/imitated rubbed me the wrong way, especially since I felt like changgwi kept trying to avoid responsibility by saying they didn't do it intentionally. (sorry about the wrong pronouns btw)

I've had some time to calm down, so I'm back to apologize to changgwi. what you did is shitty and SHOULD be taken seriously, but the other anons are right and you tried to set things right. My rant didn't help and I shouldn't have posted it. I hope you continue making skins and improve yourself so you won't have to rely on other artists' works to create your own. To people saying the copied artists aren't allowed to be uncomfortable: imagine spending all that time composing a skin, just to have someone to rip off of it. Same for watermarks. People left the server because they were so uncomfortable with what changgwi did. Their discomfort is valid. It's their creativity being stolen. if what is being said here is true, that the mods of the server were handling it, then they fucked up because this went on for so long that people thought the mods didnt care

this was being handled as quickly as it could be, and people didn't give the mods any time to handle it...
