Edit 2/1/2023: A new small guideline that has been added to the rules- please include direct links to profiles, especially if the user in question is being shady, since they go 'invisible' when FR locks/bans them.

Sales thread spam?
(Anonymous) 2023-02-11 02:27 pm (UTC)(link)in reality, I just want to be sure people know they're up for sale since I get asked about sales on non-sale tab dragons constantly. I know I shouldn't really care about other people's pings and stuff and that they can block me if they find it annoying at all, but I still have that anxiety about upsetting people lmao.
part of me: happy to sell dragons and see them go to new homes!
other part of me: oh god oh no oh god please don't hate me pwease
It's weird, I think FR is the only site I've had this issue/fear with. It's not like I'm a reseller or anything malicious, I just have an egg hatching problem and frequently go through my lair to find things that stand out too much and sell 'em.
How do you guys manage that kind of anxiety? It's unhealthy af and I hate that it even happens and I know that I shouldn't pay attention to people who complain about that stuff. It's not like I'm c0 up in here lmao.

(Anonymous) 2023-02-11 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)If I don't want to be pinged for something relevant to my interests then I'll simply remove myself from the pinglist. Of course there are cases when someone is being selfish and will abuse the pinglists multiple times a day when they could have just organized and spaced it out better, of which a blocking will occur. But you seem fine so I wouldn't worry to much about it. (I know, I know. That won't assuage your anxiety because anxiety is a beast, lol)
Re: Sales thread spam?
(Anonymous) 2023-02-11 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)Because I personally think twice a week is actually kind of a lot, especially if you’re using a large pinglist. I don’t think most people (including myself) would be too bothered to block you, but I know that if I was getting that many pings from one person, I’d just stop checking their thread altogether. It might be causing you more harm than good.
Putting new dragons up for sale is fine, you just might want to see if they sell on their own without pinging people there. If it’s a small hatchery pinglist, then it’s probably okay to ping more often, because people can ask to be removed from it. But if it’s a large pinglist like the G1 one, then I would say that definitely seems like too much, since they can’t remove themselves without blocking you. (I vaguely remember someone who would ping for each dragon they added almost every day, several times a day, and they got into some drama for it). Not that you’re doing anything to that level but twice a week is still a lot, to me at least.
If I were you, I’d try dialing it back to once every two weeks or so. Not everyone needs to see new dragons that you put up right away, and if people are asking about your sales, just redirect them to the thread. Dragons will probably sell on their own given enough time and I think spacing out your pings is probably for the best.

(Anonymous) 2023-02-11 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)I should add that I also sell a loooooot of dragons constantly, and I suffer from ping anxiety too. I’ve imposed that ~2 week rule on myself and I found that it really helped. I’d rather ping too little than too often.
