Hey.

Edit 2/1/2023: A new small guideline that has been added to the rules- please include direct links to profiles, especially if the user in question is being shady, since they go 'invisible' when FR locks/bans them.

(It's not mandatory, but it helps folks get those juicy details.)

Oh whew. I saw that cat picture in question, but I figured it's censored so why bother?

But, to be honest, I don't understand what's the problem of the dragon "Cadi"? I mean, I have seen the art before, but I can't remember what was so offensive.
Or is there something getting lost in translation, as english isn't my first language. The taboo word I get, if it's not allowed, then that's it, their fault.

And, I don't mean to offend, but how is the hatchery name racist? Isn't it the same as saying "american", "european", "african"? I honestly don't understand.

DA - I'm in same boat, as an ESL had to google what's not ok with "oriental" and the problem is, if I understood correctly, that "oriental" can be said about things made in (style of) Asian countries but not about people/thinking creatures. Distinction seems to be more USAmerican: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orient

AYRT

Cadi's bio being completely wiped made me think the cat bikini pic is on there, but now I know the pic in question's in a different dragon's bio (one that's a memorial dragon of her real cat, but I digress).

"Oriental" is a very dated term. It's racist because it's a way of describing Asian and WANA (West Asia and North Africa) people only as exotic, mysterious beings who are inferior to Western society. Choosing it as an aesthetic to base an entire hatchery on is ignorant at the very least.

Then again, looking at Pestilental's dragons (especially those in her hibden tabs "Temple" and "Desert"), this has been going on for quite some time.

"Sand", not desert. Oops. Also one of the dragons in the supposedly Chinese temple is labelled as both Japanese and Djin. Y I K E S.

But if another random user would use the description of "oriental" somewhere, they wouldn't immediately be banned, no?

Because I was just grocery shopping and saw few things called "with oriental spices" or "oriental style". I'm from Europe btw

It wasn't just the hatchery. The original hatchery thread lock before deletion due to the ban just told the user to rename it and reconsider the theme a bit. Basically make a new thread.

It was later deleted, most likely because a banned user won't be remaking. They did worse other things for the ban.

Yeah I think it was most likely just the combination of a lot of things all at once that got the account whacked outright.

It's okay to describe objects as "oriental," like oriental spices or an oriental rug. Not good to use it to describe people. Maybe it's a gray area to use it to describe fictional thinking beings aka dragons, but the admins have the prerogative to make a rule against it on their own site, even if other people think it's silly.

The Cadi profile had a reference image with nudity (albeit somewhat tame depending on your mileage, it was just the dragon-lady’s whole ass, but still against the rules), although I don’t remember any of the other images being as bad. A few were kinda like questionable but technically SFW - I guess just easier to clear the whole bio.

I imagined they removed the clearly-edited-to-be-SFW cat picture just out of principal. Honestly, kind of nice of staff to only remove the bad image on cat memorial page - the rest is still up and the user can still visit it.
