I was really excited at first but if I understand it correctly, we just hand in one item each day or whatever and can't earn any more rewards by finding more items. It seems kinda lame to me? And there isn't any point in rushing to get to the next milestone neither as the staff will be putting the next one up, it isn't automatic.

The animation is really cute and I can't wait to see what rewards we get at the end but I'm kinda disappointed with how little there is to do. They could have added some small rewards for people who want to grind for more of the items.

Why would "people like me" bitch that it's unfair if people turn in stuff and get more rewards? That's exactly the kind of event I love on petsites lol, otherwise I wouldn't have complained. I just initially thought it was an event that would have something to keep me entertained for a few days and got excited, then felt a bit deflated when I read everything.

this is how im starting to feel now that i've had a little time to sit on it. there's not really any incentive to participate beyond donating one item for the prize. i guess it's nice that you can put as little time into the event as you need to without "missing out," but the trade-off is that it's not super exciting in the meanwhile.

but, i imagine since this is their first time doing an event like this, they're getting a feel for how things should work. and it's still a cute event.

People have been complaining there's nothing for people who can't live on the site when it comes to events. What do you get out of grinding? Making the next milestone happen that much faster.

Yeah, if I'm understanding it correctly it's a bit head-tilty for me. (Mind you, also eases some regret because though I saved my gathering turns, I did hatch all my nests, bond with my fams, etc already today, and at first I thought dang, missed opportunities for moar loot. And I thought it a shame I'd be brewing vistas for most of the event rather than collecting goops. And I was debating doing my own exalting rather than sending to Plague's PB.)

But aside from self-reporting quantities of items contributed for bragging rights, there doesn't seem to be a metric for encouraging individual users to interact with the site more for more chances at items - or, for that matter, even turning them in rather than just hoarding all but one of each per phase and keeping the rest for plain ol' baldwin fodder (from the item DB entry it at least looks like they'll be meltable - if not, the mats tabs of the AH is likely to get clogged with them).
However, this is the first such event on FR, so participation awards probably do make more sense to both get everyone accustomed to it and alleviate any accusations that a supposed sitewide celebration was skewed unfairly towards power users.

(Although of course my magpie/hoarder ass is happy that it's not the case, probably would've made sense to have the event items disappear after all's said and done, like Strange Chests do. Otherwise there's really negative incentive to turn in more than necessary, since you're tossing concretely profitable goods into a pit for zero gain - except, yes, as someone said upthread, seeing the next phase sooner, but I'm way too patient for something like that to be a big perk, lol.)

Lol that they hastily corrected them to be unmeltable, with the implication that they never considered ahead of time that people would use them for Baldwin instead of the event. Chalk up another one for admins not really in touch with how people actually play the game.

honestly this is how i feel about it too :/ although i do like that i don't have to spend hours grinding i feel like they could've introduced this the way they did the micro holidays. it doesn't feel "big" enough for an anniversary release if that makes sense?

it is cute tho, and i'm hopeful that this means More Lore Sooner but. yeah. agree w/you.

people bitching here that the event is boring and gives not enough rewards really tilts me, GOD forbid you are a adult person that has to work and not 10 hours a day time to grind on FR

god forbid the FR admins make something more casual, if you want to grind yourself to nothingness there is still NOTN and every other festival on the site

there's non-grindy stuff that could've been released for the anniversary too though that would've been less disappointing; it's not about wanting to grind or about wanting a bunch of rewards, it just feels, to some people, a bit anticlimatic. if you're getting this bothered about people saying it's "boring" or "disappointing", you should probably take a break. that's pretty light criticism.

also, you're not the only adult with a job here lol. some of us are stuck working from home, some of us work from home anyways, and some of us have different opinions. it's okay to disagree nonny.

also it's...really not a problem that people are discussing both the things they like and the things they don't like about a fr thing on a fr comm. it really is fine that people disagree and have different opinions about dragon neopets.

"im disappointed by this" or "i wish there was more to the event" isn't "bitching" and doesn't mean the person saying it doesn't have a job or wants to exclude casuals.

+1 your +1. As long as the complaining is kept reasonably civil here (and *actually* civil on the site), and you don't attack people who feel differently, 'this really isn't that much fun' is just honest feedback.

im really enamoured with the way this event is. I'm super busy so it's nice to know that my little contribution will still do something, though at the same time im super motivated to keep chucking materials at the event just to see the next stage

to be honest I see this as more of an opportunity to give the users an interactive way to unlock lore than anything else. And I really hope that the success of this event will embolden the staff to branch out and explore different and more complex ways to do events in the future!

I'm glad it's pretty casual too, especially as it's gonna go on for a few days. I'd hate to miss out on one of the phases because I didn't have time to grind coli before people contributed all the necessary materials.
