Why do some people take being disagreed with on the suggestion forum as a personal attack?
Your idea was to allowing people to freely buy other people's exalted dragons, dude. It's a terrible idea. But no one was being that aggressive in the no supports.
I hate how some people need the mildest crit even sandwiched in soft words and reassurances.
In this case tho it's like what did you think was going to be people's opinion? You're asking to buy other people's dragons. It's a very selfish suggestion and they weren't be aggressive so much as blunt and there's a difference between the two.
Irony is there are some situations where it wouldn't be *that* bad an idea. At least 90% of what I exalt is just trash fodder I have zero emotional connection to, and another big chunk is breeding-project fails that aren't much more important. The number of dragons I exalt purposefully so that no one else can ever make any changes to or have any control over them is very slim, either lore exalts or parents/kids of my permas.
So if users were automatically opted out of the 'buy exalts' program entirely unless they wanted to participate, and if you still had the option to 'lock' any given exalted dragon to your account and make it unbuyable, I wouldn't object.
(Some of the issues raised in the thread were 'would be unfair for dom' (would only be an issue in heated battles where you can't just buy as many adults off the AH for ~7kt as you want anyway, and even so, the price for buying an exalt could be 50kt or something) and 'exalting is the only way to get excess dragons out of the system' (true, but a resurrected exalt would still be taking up space in the user's lair, and how someone else uses their space doesn't affect my gameplay).)
What would get weird is ID tracking for raffles and whatnot, if it were possible for two users to have legitimately exalted and earned credit for the same dragon, that could open the door to a lot of shadiness.
But yeah, it would never happen, because too much of the motivation would be coming from a place of 'all exalting is evil' and it would just feed into that mindset.
as a completionist, i was kinda torn about being able to have a ""full"" bestiary but not owning the familiar. but now i really love the idea! the bestiary and bonding with familiars has, for some reason, always been one of my favorite parts of fr--i have no idea why; maybe i just love the idea of a dragon having a pet/companion, and the fact that you get REWARDS from LOVE. my little "my love language is gifts" heart adores that.
i do wish there was a way to sort your awakened familiars by whether or not you own them, if only because i was curious about how many i didn't currently actually own, looked through all one million pages, and it turns out that (i am PRETTY SURE) i accidentally melted down my satin rambra ;__;
i'm just wondering, what do y'all think of the bestiary/familiar system as it stands now?
I like the system and think them adding Fiona was great - it allows everyone to complete the bestiary itself over time, and people who really want to can still have a goal of a 'living bestiary' by collecting the actual familiars. I wouldn't be opposed to a few tweaks (like pinning a familiar for a fee or something in Fiona to help awaken it quicker), and in general I'd like more use for awakened familiars (maybe very very rarely they can give out a random chest? but I get the opposition to that I suppose, it's more of a 'that would be neat' thing). I also think a way to get multiple Fiona fams would be nice - maybe they could let us reset the bonding for the relevant familiars, and re-bond but not receive rewards (other than being able to claim another Fiona fam eventually). But overall it's great.
100% agree they need to a way to filter owned/not owned though. People have been asking for that ever since the bestiary was revamped - I really hope they add a filter at some point, it seems like such an obvious QOL thing lol.
Also not really related to the bestiary specifically, but I still hate that we can't attach the same familiar to multiple dragons - if we can bond with an attached one in Fiona and it marks it as bonded on the dragon, why wouldn't that work for actually having it on two or more dragons? *hmm emoji*
Does a familiar get wiped from the "undiscovered" page if it's awakened? I def have some on there that I've bonded with some through Fiona (but not all the way) even tho I don't have them.
Possibly a very dumb question, but are there any downsides to scaling the PSD template down to 350x350 first thing and then just working at that size? When I work at the full size, I find a lot of the details aren't as sharp or readable as I want them once I scale down.
there is even worse nonny, i know accent artists who upscale the file to 1500x1500px first and then work on it. maybe try a different way of downscaling, bicubic sharpening and what's it alls names.
genuinely not trying to cause a cancellation or stink here, but i am pretty amazed at the number of skins & accents that have dreamcatchers and other indigenous imagery in them? like i do think that fr can't ban imagery like that because if you're indigenous then obv it's yours to use and all, but... boy, there are just a lot out there that are like ~~magick shaman raindance dreams~~ and go in hard with the dreamcatchers and tomahawks and shit, which, yikes.
idk, i am just interested in this topic in general. like part of me is glad that words like dyke are banned from being posted in forums &etc, but also, as a dyke, i'm sad that i can't use my word :\
There's a lot of issue with a blanket ban like you're kind of proposing. Is it really worth the site's effort to police that every single artist and/or owner of a copy of something like that is an indigenous person of a tribe associated with dreamcatchers or the imagery in question to have a claim to it? Not really. And as long as it's not be used in a horribly offensive way, I don't think it's worth any site's effort to try.
Also, there's the possibility that completely innocent designs would be caught in a crossfire of "Is it appropriation?" if they tried.
i feel you. i think all pride flags should be banned by those who aren't within the LGBT+ community. boy capitalism sure has taken over this dragon game. people keep drawing stuff that sells and has been normalized in western media.
