do you have any examples? genuinely curious
NAYRT, however I know that this is the case for a lot eastern european foods. Vareniki and Borscht are the ones I hear people argue about pretty frequently.
Especially Slavic and Balkan food! A well known shared dish is paprikash, goulash, and sodmay(Rromani)/Golubtsi(Ruissian)/sarmale(Romanian) (beef, rice, tomatoes, peppers etc wrapped in cabbage!)
There's a huge overlap in Balkan/Slavic foods so they have very similar dishes that have various unique versions for different cultures.
I love that human culture isn't static, but it shares and learns and grows, especially with food ♥
(I am very high and thinking fondly of my Mami's sodmay so this topic and the direction it's gone in makes me happy. Accidentally wholesome.)

SA Yep! I think I heard about those as well.
I guess another examples could be crepes/blini + oladushki because those get lumped with blini despite being two different things.
Looking more globally dumplings/pelmeni/whatever also fits I guess. It's really hard to combine only two ingredients in a way that would be completely unique.

When you boil humanity down to its basics, we all have the same things in common:
bread, booze, music, dance, and stews/soups.
Especially fried dough and booze. And I love that for us.

I am not using Stylus at all, actually. I have a different extension because I need dark mode for multiple websites and am willing to suffer FR being somewhat uglier if it means I only have one thing to update and customize instead of eight.
Looking at the screenshots there isn't too much difference except in the sidebar anyway. I do appreciate the updated link, though!

Some of those food wars can be ...intense.
Some of those food wars can be ...intense.
That last part is so important.
Another site I play updated their site a few years ago and gave us site themes. There were a lot of them.
My personal favorite is a dark one with blue highlights and it is basically all blue with a bit of green.
To me, it is perfect and soothing.
But it gives others headaches because it does have some brighter blue and green.
There is another one that is pretty much universally dark, but everything is shades of brown. I know others who love that one, because it is soothing to them, but I don't like how washed out it makes things.
Others prefer brighter themes because the darker ones give THEM headaches.
So many sites that give dark mode do tend to go 'oh lets go all dark greys and depressing' or 'everything but text is black', I really appreciate the ones that give me options to choose from.

ayrt same hat basically
the dark mode most commercial websites/apps default to is awful for me because bright text on a dark background makes me see actual lines in my vision after awhile and gives me a headache on top of it.
it's incredibly annoying and i 100% avoid nearly any website with a layout like that (like most Fandom Wikis lol) and will just deal with light mode on other sites because at least i can mitigate the brightness by turning it down on my device or straight up wearing sunglasses.
my personal sweet spot tends to be backgrounds with medium-to-light cool colors (especially blues/greens) and off-dark text.

Pizza is probably the easiest example. Neapolitan vs. Sicilian vs. New York style vs. Chicago deep dish is quite the debate LOL. Which one is the 'real' pizza? At this point... all of them!
French fries are another; despite being seen as potentially American and/or French, depending on who you ask, their origin is actually now thought to be Belgian frites. And goulash, which another anon mentioned, is yet another example - I grew up eating the German version specifically, but there are variations all around eastern/central Europe.

Yeah, I was definitely thinking of that! A lot of those dishes have been passed around through much of Europe by now, with many regions making their own take on them.
I also love that humans have historically appreciated good food so much. :D

Unfortunately, I'm a bit disappointed with the official fest items. The apparel I think it the biggest fail, it just looks super unbalanced. I wish it added some more vines and butterflies over the dragon, and the poses where the plant hangs straight down look really bad. My favorite pose might be GuardM where it looks like a non-descript plant growth around the tail: https://www1.flightrising.com/hoard/preview-image?breed=2&gender=0&item=63583
I actually love the Pitcher plant, but I feel like it would have been a better fit for a fantasy satchel item on the waist or shoulder.
Sword and the familiar are nice. I feel like the sword could have been more inspired, a more floral blade shape would be nice. It feels like a normal machete/sword (sorry, don't know an exact name) with some plant growth on it.
Familiar had amazing potential but comes off a little too zoomed out and busy. I really love the inspiration bird for it (I think it's a Lady Amherst's pheasant), but I think the glowing bulb under its chin really muddies the silhouette and is unnecessary.
What do yall think?

It's by far my least favorite apparel from this cycle; it looks so weird/unbalanced. Agree with the fam being way too busy, too. Sword is fine; I'm just happy for more weapons.
After seeing the final of the gryphons, none of the familiar from this cycle will live up to Earth's sabertooth/terror bird for me.

If you want another example, I saw a meme the other day that my brother sent me about Hawaiian pizza.
If I recall it went something like this, Hawaiian pizza was invented by a Greek immigrant living in Canada, who was inspired by South East Asian cuisine to put a South American fruit on an Italian dish.
So, in that particular dish, who is going to fight and who will win?

And if you think about it, that sums up probably about 90% of most dishes.
Since mankind started exploring and bringing back plants and animals and taking their own plants and animals, cuisines all over the world started using ingredients from all over the world.
It gets even weirder *not exactly the word I want, but I can't think what word to use* when you start realizing how many of the foods we have today are only here because people started hybridizing plants (if I recall, most citrus isn't 'natural' but the result of humans hybridizing five different plants)
So the history of food is indeed 'I created this dish and my neighbor took it, changed one ingredient and now calls it 'my neighbor's dish''. It then goes even further because the one person then goes 'I then found this new ingredient and created a brand new dish and called it 'MY new dish'' but it could have only been created by someone else bringing ingredients or inspiration back from a different place.

My cat died
I’m having a difficult time adjusting
She was 13 years old

Nonny, I am so, so sorry. My own pet died at age 36- and 33 of those years were with me.
It's hard, feeling their absence like a black hole in your life.
Idk if you've heard of the Grief Ball In a Box analogy, but it's very fitting.
https://imgur.com/gallery/ball-box-iivATow
The key difference is, with a pet that's been in your life for so long, the ball is less of a ball, and more shaped like your pet- and the sharper parts of the shape hurt even more when they make contact with the pain button.
Pets often have a place in our lives other humans don't- so when you feel their absence in that way, it hurts more.
The pain gets better. The pet-shape in the box shrinks. Their memory stops hurting after a while, and becomes a source of bittersweet nostalgia.
I know society in general mocks folks who treat pets like family, but have a funeral or a memorial for your cat in a way that gives you closure.
(I sent my pet to a vulture to have his remains preserved in the way that felt best for me, and it's given me an odd sense of closure, knowing he's being seen to by an undertaker who specializes and has passion for the animals they tend to.)
I'm so sorry for your loss, and I hope you heal in time.

I'm so sorry, anon. ♥︎ Wish I had something to say that would make it better, but I know that's not how grief works.
Sorry to hear that, my cat died at 8 years old last year and I am still not over it.
"that is more so regarding whether staff is ever going to adjust those for consistency like they’ve said"
Yes, that's what I was referring to. My thought was that that's the reason no Ancients get IriShim, because the staff doesn't want to draw attention to them/fan the flames by taking sides between new/old any more than necessary. I could see a lot of "not fair that Gaolers have new-style pink IriShim" contentiousness and etc. I can see your point about the art if that's the way it's done, but I didn't realize those genes were unique in that way, especially in the new style.

For me it's less about the color match and more that I don't like how it looks to have a clashing pattern between Quagga's shoulder stripes.
Yeah, the male pose is definitely easier to match the harlequin and quagga markings on IMO.
I don't mind outing myself for this, so I'll go ahead and show my cirrus with quagga: https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/102428398.
