I do think it's weird that the only other time FR has been involved with charity (that I know of) has been Akiri's Campaign Zero donation https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/frd/2869492.

Charities have otherwise been discouraged from being mentioned on-site; Flight Rising as a company is only willing to engage with charity if it's been critisized for racism. It's using POC as PR props imo.

I don't think it's right to have FR users to be the ones monetarily donating for "reperations" or whatever this time.

This is extremely disingenuous. FR only discourages charities/fundraisers brought up /by players/ because it's not not feasible for them to vet/determine which of these are legitimate/trustworthy and remove only those.

Really would love to hear why you think it's inappropriate for them to do this when it was literally something that was run by a professional who is an expert in the culture in question. What the fuck else do you want them to do anon?

not for nothing but I have a friend who's a professional cultural consultant so this is something I'm actually very familiar with:
cultural consultants are always from the culture they're consulting on. that's how the field works.

I'm sorry I didn't make this part clear: Flight Rising should either be participating in charities on a regular basis, regardless of backlash and out of their own genuine good-will, or not at all. I mearly bring up the discouragment to illustrate FR's hardened position, that they are NOT a charity, they have no interest in charity in any-way-shape-or form, they are a business. When staff is racist tho? Suddenly they're grabbing the nearest POC in need to use as a shield. It's gross.

obviously one person, expert or not, cannot speak for an entire group of people. however i feel that FR did quite a bit of due diligence working with that cultural consultant, and i don't think it's very fair to them to completely dismiss everything they're doing as white guilt or whatever else was said. like who are you randoms and what do you know about the actual positives/harms that come from this?

FR - We wanted to make a tribute to the real mythical creature that inspired our recent wind ancient, instead of having the wind ancient more closely resembling that mythical creature. To prevent us from profiting off of this cultural myth that we do not belong to, we will only release them in a method where FR gets zero profits and all proceeds are given to an associated charity.

You would have been better off NOT raising money for a charity that has some actual importance right now with the current political climate of American and for asian-americans who look like they could be an immigrant!!
