plant dragons

hey nonnies
recently found myself getting really into jade (crassula ovata) plants as faux-bonsai (not true woody trees but you can apply some of the same pruning and styling principles)
they're bringing me a lot of joy currently and I'm wondering if anyone has any fun/creative suggestions for adding a dragon or two to my lair that gives off jade plant vibes & is more... inspired than a triple jade.
Only posting here and not the official forums bc I have NO forum posts yet and it feels more lowkey somehow to be anonymous (no one can judge my current bad taste lol)

For some reason I ended up having a collection of plant gaolers, and one could sorta fit that vibe! I used green-range ripple (specifically algae, which I think works well), green-range current, and pink-range blossom to imitate a cactus of sorts. Could do something similar!

Also seconding the Willow gene idea.

Santae will change their cash shop prices based off of America's inflation. So no price is set in stone it'll be constantly changing. This is literally the only pet site I've seen do this and quite frankly it's stupid. (Also the prices will change from $1=1sC to $1=100sC? So what's the point in confusing your players even more?)

I didn't think it was possible to make an already bad game worse but some how CJ manages to dig a deeper hole every time he opens his mouth.

theoretical question that i cannot math and logic through myself because it's midnight but i cannot fall asleep: if the buy rate fluctuates, and USD to other currencies rate also fluctuates due to the idiocracy you have, which rl currency is the most optimal to buy your santae currency in after factoring in all currency conversion bank charges and likely rounding to nearest integer that will come by tying the rate to inflation?

i'm sorry about your day and i hope things get better for you. :(

today, i finally got an issue resolved with a large online store for collectibles i was trying to buy things from. some sort of error on their end kept preventing me from successfully placing an order, and after a few unsuccessful tries, things seem to be working now, so i can continue my collection. just placed an order that will complete a set i wanted to have since i was a kid!

Game Microtransactions/Real Cash Purchases

With all the talk of imp scrolls and what they would cost, I want to ask how often people pay for in game currencies/microtransactions in games they play?

Personally, I try to avoid paying money as much as possible. But if I get a lot of enjoyment out of a game, I don't mind spending a bit ($20-$60) one time as a treat and also to compensate the devs. But also for some reason, as soon as I spend money on a game I tend to fall off of it for awhile, like for a few months or even a year at a time.

I have paid for in game stuff in the past, when I was younger. But these days I just don't think it's worth it for me.

Maybe I should pay for gems once tho, now that my 11 year anniversary on the site is coming up.

Much the same here. I'm usually generally free-to-play but if I get really invested I might throw $5-10, 20 if I'm particularly spicy, at it every now and then. More if it's really something I'm into and that affects gameplay with my gaming group.

Like. Helldivers for example I've bought a few of the expansion packs to play with my friends, I think they're like the equivalent of $15-25 dollars each? (I forget it's been a while, I've been playing other games at the moment, I just know I have to buy bundles of the cash currency to get the game packs). I am more likely to spend money on stuff that affects gameplay than I am to spend it on purely cosmetic stuff, if that makes sense? Nexon kind of spoiled cosmetics for me way back in the day; used to be addicted to maplestory in highschool.

Um more specifically to FR? I think I've bought $15-20 worth of gems at least once a year. As a treat.

I make it a point to never do in-game microtransactions, especially if it's more "gambling" style (luck-based, lootboxes etc.) I'm really prone to just tossing money to see what happens if I'm not careful. And so I do not allow myself to! I don't think I've purchased anything of that sort since Overwatch was in its heyday in 2016ish, lol. But it sucks because a lot of games do this style now, it's predatory but it works. If it's a one-time purchase such as a cosmetic for something that I play a lot (and if it's an indie game and it goes to supporting the devs) I could be more tempted, but for the most part I have a no microtransactions rule.

That being said, in the many years I've played FR I have thrown $20 at them during Black Friday sales maybe twice or three times. I figure I've gotten years of enjoyment out of this site, so it's the least I can do to show them some support. I haven't done this recently though as I now make the bulk of my gems during NotN.

years and years of using dreamwidth in various forms and it's only today that i learned that flatview has its own "pages" navigation at the bottom of the page to tab between (flatview) pages.. i always thought that flatview refreshed itself occasionally and the posts would just vanish and reset after some arbitrary threshold lol

It might amuse some of y’all that I came right off of the dev post where Aequorin was saying “it’s AI bots, we’re really trying but it’s an Internet-wide problem” and half a day later my very nice but not super techy boss called me into his office to ask if I’ve ever used this generative AI stuff and what my opinion of it is. I summed it up as “built on theft, we don’t know what it’s doing, and it’s not really doing anything a human can’t do and costing 10 times the price at that”. It was like getting a cathartic little Internet rant but so much better because I know he actually listens when my department tells him stuff.
