it's like 888 said though:
"For everyone else: By repeating the myth that staff only picks constant winners, that new artists don't have a chance at all, that there's constant favoritism - you're driving hate toward winners and also discouraging new artists from even trying. Don't you see how telling artists that they have almost no chance against repeat winners in the face of very real numbers saying otherwise, is a defeatist attitude that hurts everybody?

I really want to see people take a minute and consider what they're trying to accomplish when they repeat this misconception. It is entirely damaging to almost everyone who hears it, especially people who then incorporate it into their belief system and repeat it to other people.

At the very least, I think a wider trend of being informed and people not repeating misconceptions that there's no room for new artists would help. It's just defeatism at that point."

like we can very easily help people stop feeling demoralized by not repeating something that's objectively been debunked and encouraging them to look at how many first time winners there are instead

People could believe first time winners win every time and it's only going to solve like 20% of why the entry numbers have dropped. Again, see 888's data--Rockbreaker's had a spike in entries because it was worth it to enter, even if you thought the same people were going to win. FR staff needs to fix this by making the contests more flashy, more worth it, more varied. You cannot depend on the playerbase to take things on faith and stop feeling demoralized when materially nothing changes with the contests.

thats very true, it just shouldn't be on the community to provide incentive to enter skin contests like this. I hope fr staff sees the thread and it gets some gears turning in their heads

Fully agree it should be on staff, not the playerbase! Honestly I wish staff were more communicative with the playerbase in general. I miss words on the wind and colouring contests.

yes, they used to round up all of the player run elemental festival events quarterly too! that was a great way to acknowledge and make the playerbase,, especially the dominance users that put so much work into events, feel seen. the radio silence feels disheartening
