I think they’re just generally abrasive, their chat with hex in AAA was super awkward in tone. Sometimes people come across as an asshole and that’s fine, has nothing to do with popularity imho. You can come across as an asshole but still be a decent person. Just means they’re bit less fun to talk to and less approachable.

just last night batmorgue was a bit rude about a dragon color combo. someone in aaa was excited about how cheap they got it for and batmorgue goes "there are maybe 2 people who think those colors in that order are good,,,"

like, no it's not anything crazy, but it also was not needed at all. little things like this add up and make them insufferable to talk to when everything they say is weirdly not nice.

And that’s the big issue, for lack of better term and hopefully not sounding like psych talk here, but they are continuously doing these weird micro aggressions that makes it hard to want to like them or be their friend. There are so many lovely people to chat with in AAA but batmorgue isn’t one of them just because of how rude they come off. That doesn’t mean they’re not a good person, just not generally nice. Maybe they think it’s funny or cool, but when a lot of what they say is somehow a jab at someone’s preference or belittling how they see things, it doesn’t feel good. Not enough to block them but def enough to have zero interest in interacting with them just based on what they put forth as a person socially.

There’s a difference between having inside jokes vs just being a dick. It could just be that they don’t translate well in text too but I’m leaning more towards them just being rude given how often they make these weird half-slight jabs at other users who are not in their friend group.

The fact that people are saying they’re only being talked about because they’re “popular” is stupid.

"microaggression" by definition is specifically related to prejudice against marginalized individuals. it's not "repeated unkind things" and has a specific meaning.

My bad entirely— ESL here and I literally meant it as the exact English “micro”/“aggression” break up in words. I didn’t know how to convey this any better way that how I did but I understand it was wrong in that meaning. Sorry!

no it doesnt. it has a connotation but context matters and the op clearly wasnt referring to marginalized groups. dont be deliberately obtuse. linguistic prescriptivism is bad regardless of ur motivation, ur not “standing up for marginalized groups” by pretending u dont understand what somebody meant when they use the wrong words, thats how u end up harassing random people who speak english as a second language.
