Sorry for continuously returning here to peddle imported salt. It's not my fault things keep happening in my periphery.

So where do I even begin. Goatlings is a kind of Neopets style pet site that's been around for over a decade now. It has a pretty dedicated playerbase, but there's been some discontent for a number of years. There's a long thread (now locked due to post limit) that was posted in February this year discussing a lot of the grievances users had with the site, which unfortunately you need a minimum 3-day old account (unless you wanna cough up 10 bucks to upgrade) to view the forums, but there's this google doc that covers the initial topics.

Now here in October, there's been a handful of improvements. We have a dev log now and... profile tabs? I'll be honest I haven't been keeping up until pretty recently specifically because the annual October event Monster Masquerade is here! Kinda! The team mascots are here (and don't get me started on the storm of how the mascots were decided this year), but the associated box with bonus dolls still hasn't been implemented. Neither is the limited time explore area. The team events took a few days to all open up. Admittedly, I haven't been around for Monster Masquerade for a few years, but from what I've heard its abnormal for things to be this late.

And there's a non-zero chance the reason for this is because the site owner, Krisgoat, has an entire VTuber sidegig. This was discussed at length in the dedicated salt blog, goatlingsvent.tumblr.com, but the information has now been compiled over on another blog.

Okay? What's so bad about having a vtuber side gig? People are allowed to have fun? This sounds kinda petty.
Sure, the pay is shit for the artists, but it sounds more like they're doing this as a passion project job rather than an actual job-job.
That's just my take on it.
Also those prices for vtuber models shown are pretty average, if not cheap when including rigging.

My gaming group is gonna do a one-shot Hazbin Hotel RPG for Halloween, so I'm putting together a Hazbin-inspired costume for that. (No specific character, I couldn't pull off any of them except maybe Nifty, but the general aesthetic.)

There's WoW talk going on right now so I figured I'd bite the bullet and ask if anyone here plays or used to play guild wars 2 as well. I can never find anyone to chat with about gw2 ever. Like show me your characters or tell me what you think of the main story or just the game in general or something. Or even if you hate the game go ahead and tell me why lol.

I'm enjoying the most recent expansion a ton and its next big content update is due in less than a month. I can hardly wait, it's the best content we've had in a long while. In the meantime I'm just enviously staring at other people's amazingly decorated homesteads while continuously putting off working on my own lol...

i apologize about posting the parable in the last thread; i was intending to point out the message of "never tolerate intolerance no matter how small it seems", not compare people who intentionally refuse to gender others correctly to [that group] or potentially open up a dialogue that could focus on that subject, but i realize now that regardless of intent, i certainly did by bringing up the specific parable. i'll find better ways to convey my messages in the future.

tldr - this post provides additional proof that the owner of Santae, CJ, is also the owner of a previous pet site, Lurapets named Ken. despite what CJ says now, he has not until now admitted this. the post ends with an offer for CJ to come clean about everything, or they'll be posting the additional parts.

this matters because: lurapets has a history of underpaying their artists [CJ does this with Santae now], continuing to use artwork from artists who were not paid and left the project/did not want their art used. and a lot of stuff, honestly just google lurapets ken. there are so many callout posts.

tldr - CJ says it was never a secret he was the owner of lurapets. he alleges that a user spent 8k USD on the site during a year and for some reason backcharged all of it. now in massive debt, he tries to sell the site. a "buyer" [remember this] offered 10k USD, but only paid him 5k USD and then blocked him everywhere while also changing the password on the webhosting, so he was locked out of lurapets.

oh also, CJ bought the Lurapets art that was used on Santae from Powerpets. who is Powerpets you ask? why, they're the very buyer that only gave him 5k/10k and blocked him! interesting!

anyway part 2 dropped and it has a lot of proof that they've been using AI reference images for the NPC art. tracing and copying to the point of including some of the AI fuck ups. no wonder he doesn't think his artist rates are low.

I attempted to buy gems with a credit card but stopped because this is literally the first shop I've ever seen that asked for my? theirs? random?? postal code. If a failed transaction is an automatic ban and my card doesn't have a postal code attached to it because I'm not in USA, am I buying my own ban?? Amazing :')

FR and Depression

I've been destroyed by school and depression the past few years and God it's making FR hard to play.
Don't have the energy for coli, don't have it for Baldwin, don't have energy for fairgrounds. I constantly have to buy food and my only source of dragon cash is selling fodder I breed and occasionally hoard selling random crap. There's got to be a better way to get dragon cash than this. Or a way to reignite my passion. God I fucking hate having depression.q

whyyy are people throwing hundreds of gems at this dragon? the only special thing about it (afaict) is the dark eyes. which can be bought on the marketplace for 150kt. and the current bid is like 7x that. even if they were after specifically an ice auraboa with those (not rare) colors and all basic genes except greenskeeper (lol), i'm pretty sure it would work out to cost much less than 1k gems. is the diff like, a convenience fee or something?

or... are the bidders under the impression that the dragon is a G1? it isn't explicitly stated anywhere in the thread that it isn't a G1, and almost all the other auctions in the forum are for G1 dragons, so maybe they just assumed it was one? it isn't even a G2 tho. what is going on here. i'm so confused.
