Anon from above, but YES.

Assistive devices are live changing. I got a cane, and it only helps on good days. I got walker, despite the feeling of "Fuck, do I really need this? I feel like I'm faking." and having it on bad days when I HAVE to go out has been a game changer.

I also got myself a shower bench and I can ENJOY taking showers again without worrying about falling or cutting them short.

Wedge pillows for bed can help you get out of bed more easily, and can help bloodflow while you sleep.

and YES resistance bands, small handheld dumbbells (2-10lbs) and isometric stretches are all things that can be done in bed, or at your desk!

And I get so tired of hearing it from folks, but yoga really is a good way to stay limber without getting exhausted- it certainly won't cure anything like folks say it will, but it IS a form of exercise that's low impact and the feeling of being able to do it at all is a good way to keep your confidence up!

yeah! a lot of these are great to have around regardless of what others or yourself think about having them. they're marketed to older people, but they're for everyone of all ages and a litany of disabilities. something i always encourage others to get regardless of ability level is of those grabby claws to reach things so you don't need to risk falling off a stepstool if you have an episode of weakness.

wedge pillows are really good, and my fiance has one! i personally have a G-shape orthopedic body pillow; they allow you to sleep comfortably and without tossing and turning in all sorts of different positions. you can sleep in it like a pool inner tube, or lay on your side with your legs around the pillow to support your hips, etc. they're also usually 30$ or less on amazon!

yoga is incredible, and sometimes being able to do it is what turns my days from a potentially really high pain day to one where i can at least manage to get important tasks done on time. i have a lot of regimens i can do in different settings like in bed, on the couch, on the floor, etc. so i'm never in a position where i can't do them. stretching via yoga is also super good for releasing chemicals into the body to facilitate pain management and mood boosting! :D anyone who trashes on yoga is weak and will not survive the winter.

I have one of those G shaped pillows, too! Between the wedge and Gpillow, and a weighted blanket, I sleep cradled, and rarely move- which is great because I have subluxed my joints in my sleep from rolling around too much lol.

One of my favorite things that I got to accommodate my needs- and it'll sound so dumb- but I got a Yeti can cooler made for 16oz cans (aka energy drinks) because I have one instead of coffee (coffee tears my gut up lol) and it lets me sip on the thing for a longer period, because it keeps it cool, and lets me have that steady flow of caffeine instead of overdoing it all at once. It's helped me REDUCE the amount of caffeine, and saved me money bc I hate them when they're room temp.

And I use a grabber, too! It makes doing laundry so much easier, especially grabbing clothes out of the bottom of the washer.

first of all, it's so nice finding someone else who has similar kinds of conditions (especially the fibro) so it's very fun to talk to you; thank you! sometimes it helps feel a little less alone. :D

if you think getting one of those yeti can coolers for their use case is crazy (and good on you for reducing your caffeine intake!), consider: i have one specifically to wrap in a towel and use as a muscle roller because i need something firmer than most rollers come in, and also those things are so durable i don't worry about it caving in and hurting me. it's the right size to get out small, isolated knots. being made of stainless steel means i can also use them as a heat/ice pack if needed. it's such a weird use for it, BUT it's perfect.
